The Seventeenth Great Jedi War, also known as GJW XVII: Animus, is a Brotherhood event running from May 23, 2026 to June 26, 2026.
Story
Summary
For years, The Collective has worked to destroy The Brotherhood. Led by the increasingly unhinged Rath Oligard, they have led attacks on Brotherhood space again and again. Now, their home has been discovered, the Cor'neria System. The time has come for the Brotherhood to press the assault against their long standing enemy. The deep and long gestating animus between these two factions has reached its inevitable conclusion. Peace is impossible, one must end.
The Council gathers on Arx, during which Darth Renatus reveals that the Strategic Tactical AI Resource (S.T.A.R.) has been able to gather details on the Cor’neria System. Although there are some disputes within the Brotherhood's borders, it is agreed that they should press ahead with an attack. Although hesitant initially to involve the Clans, it is decided they should be involved. During the meeting, sightings of Dacien Victae following his disappearance are discussed and it is realised from sightings that he is likely en route to Cor’neria himself.
At the same time on Hirkado-II, Idris Adenn and Kamjin Lap’lamiz bring an imprisoned pirate by the name of Jinkam before two of the Severian Principate's leaders. As the pirate broke both Revenant and Severian laws he is being judged by representatives of both groups, using Jinkam's punishment as as leverage in their favour, only to reveal that "Kamjin" was a projected hologram over a droid frame once the meeting is done.
On Elizabeth-I in the Cor'neria System, Rath Oligard sits considering the loss of his spy network, and the removal of an edge that gave them over the Brotherhood. Further losses such as the disappearance of Capital Enterprises' new leader, Varryn Antillus, weighs heavily on his mind. Amid the latest of several violent outbursts, he demands from Icasta Kendra the location of Varryn, eventually gaining from her that he is overseeing the construction of their fleet's new assets from their shipyard. Kendra also takes a moment to criticise Oligard's decisions, especially all but completely exposing their location to the Brotherhood.
Later Kendra directly messages Varryn, confirming that Oligard is becoming increasingly unstable and is threatening them all. The violent outbursts are part of why Varryn has forced him to avoid Oligard, to the point of ignoring his calls and even direct orders from Kendra. Following a communication with Kendra, Varryn finally opts to answer one of Oligard's messages.
Preparing for war and gathering the Iron Legions, the Council plans its next move while on Arx. Uji Tameike reflects on the impending battle and is questioned over the possible losses even should they win the conflict.
At the same time on the Isabella Ship Yard in the Cor'neria System, Varryn Antillus' personal droid cites growing concerns among the Enterprises' Board of Directors, demanding full disclosures in regard to his recent choices. Varryn freely admits he is trying to avoid them, the droid, and Oligard, growing increasingly concerned about their leader's personal choices. Acting covertly and demanding a communications blackout, Varryn begins planning to move several ships to the L2 Lagrange point, preparing to head off a likely impending assault from the Brotherhood.
Varryn's small flotilla is moved to the jump point, and uses its gravity well projectors to successfully intercept the Brotherhood's first wave, Fate Squadron. On board the Tector-class Star Destroyer Ravager, Uji orders the remaining fleet to drop out of hyperspace before they can crash into the gravity wells. The Ravager endures the opening bombardment over the initial volley, but is able to overcome the waiting blockade by revealing a planned trap. One of the Brotherhood's own ships, the Raider II-class Corvette Astraeus, was already in the system and operating on minimal power. The flanking attack is enough to break the formation and allow Fate Squadron to press its attack.
While ordering a full retreat of the ships before they are lost, Varryn is contacted by Avitus Oligard, who had long parted ways from the Collective. Varryn ignores Avitus' pleas about his brother's insanity once his ships detect the arrival of the Legacy, the first of the Brotherhood's new class of Star Dreadnoughts. Joined by Dragon Squadron, Storm Squadron, Transport Force Omega, and the Godless Matron, Silence, and Schism; the Brotherhood is falling the bulk of its forces into the attack. Avitus is on the Legacy's bridge, and sadly reflects to Renatus that his pleas for sanity will not save them all.
On Elizabeth-I, Rath Oligard has already all but written off Varryn and sees him as a traitor, but allows him to move ahead and attack the Brotherhood. He then orders Kendra to join him at their HQ, and prepare for their worst-case scenario.
As the Brotherhood and Collective navies engage one another in a pitch battle, the Collective enacts a scorched earth policy. In an effort to deny the Brotherhood an easy landing site and slow them, the Collective bombarded Nei’kapo from orbit. This set the agricultural world ablaze, burning whole regions at a time. Uji detects a shatterpoint in the Force, realising it is stemming from where the Legacy is pinned between two Collective ships using gravity wells to anchor it in place and bombard it from all sides. Uji reflects briefly on a time two days prior to the attack, remembering the choices he made and the certainty of those he would be sending to their deaths if deployed on the wrong site. His concerns lingered over a tear in the Force, and his limited ability to predict it.
As the Liberation Front's armies continue to indiscriminately attack civilians, the Iron Legionaries, and burn the very planet, the fighting on the surface becomes bogged down in close range melees. Some of Uji's choices save the lives of those present there despite the odds, but his own vision of the future is limited.
With heavy losses being taken in the attack, Uji recognises the shatterpoint surrounding the Legacy and realises why his vision of the future was limited. Using the Pride as a battering ram, Uji is able to free the Legacy by fighting his way through through forces surrounding the ship. With the Pride in flames, he is able to ram one Collective cruiser and then destroy a nearby Golan III station, freeing up the Legacy to continue the battle.
With the battle still underway, the Legacy detects a wealth of new contacts arriving into the system from the other side of the planet.
Casualties continue to mount among the Iron Legion, with an estimated two in every five ships incapable of fighting. The new contacts arriving are other Collective vessels, jumping in now that attrition has taken its toll on the Brotherhood and their main force has begun to fragment into various battlefronts. Yet rather than singularly focusing on the Brotherhood, the newly arriving vessels begin attacking everything in sight, indiscriminately shooting at the Collective ships already in system.
With the assault on Nei’joule turning against the Brotherhood, Reantus orders all communications to be routed through the legacy to maintain some degree of control over the battle and limit panic. With Uji's final words of "Not consequence. Responsibility." echoing in his mind, Reantus orders that their reserves be committed to the fight and to have the forward assault force withdraw and regroup. Arconan, Odanite, and Taldryan begin arriving in the system and joining the battle.
On Elizabeth-I, Varryn furiously decries Oligard's attack on everything in the system including his own Collective vessels. In the grip of madness, Oligard denounces Varryn for not being loyal to the Collective's cause and making it clear that Capital Enterprises was little more than a tool for his benefit. AS the communication ends, Varryn makes orders to evacuate to be contacted from another source. Alaris Jinn messages Varryn directly, announcing an ongoing situation - A fire sale of Capital Enterprises' stock. Having bought up shares and invested covertly via shell companies following Enterprises' losses at Meridian Prime space station, Jinn is selling them and triggering a huge crash in the company's value. Although openly taunting Varryn over this, Alaris makes Capital Enterprises an offer - Have their military stand down and open the way in. If Varryn did so, Alaris would be open to a merger between companies, giving Capital Enterprises a means of survival.
In orbit, the arrival of the clans has changed the tide of battle. Simultaneously striking the Collective fleets and deploying troops onto the surface of each engagement zone, it's enough to break the back of the Collective's battle lines and finally make them crumble. As the battle in orbit continues, ODN Knight’s Vigil deploys its drop pods to Elizabeth-II, landing in the Technodome. Sweeping through the area, the troops begin downloading technical data from any secured system, sabotaging production lines, and hunting down any remaining members of the Technocrat hierarchy. Kendra attempts a final stand among the ruined production facilities, only to be killed following a fierce duel against Vigo Zakirov and Velira Morvane.
With Capital Enterprises standing down and the Technocrat Guild all but destroyed, only the Liberation Front remains. As Renatus directs further attacks on the Collective, he learns that the Astraeus, the ship mysteriously already in the system, is heading directly for Nei’joule. On the ship, former Grandmaster Dacien gathers his weapons and equipment, departing to deal with Rath Oligard in person. Taking apart any resistance in his path, Dacien heads for the Estate of the Lord Superior, casually drinking from a mug as he approaches the building.
Catching Oligard as he rants before a control system, trying to regain control of the battle, Dacien hurls the mug and its contents at Rath, earning the surprised reaction of “Did— Did you just throw a Pumpkin Spiced Latte at me?”
In a brutal but one sided engagement, Dacien brings Oligar low and removes one of his arms. Oligard in turn reveals he had prepared in advance, and was holding a detonator to a machine, capable of making the Cor’nerian sun enter its supernova state. Focused upon Dacien, Oligard is caught by surprise as Avitus sneaks into the room and guns him down from behind.
In the aftermath of the battle, the Brotherhood returns to Arx to mourn its dead and rebuild its strength. Following a funeral for Uji, and the promotion of Barafu Endrin to Fist, they reflect on the costs. Nei’kapo is being rebuilt, the system now under Brotherhood protection with a small garrison on site. With Capital Enterprises covering much of the costs of the reconstruction following a restructuring settlement, the Brotherhood is working to reverse the harm caused by the Collective.
Renatus looks over at the seat where Uji once sat, now occupied by Barafu, and believes for the briefest moment to see Uji within the Force standing over him. For the first time since the funeral, he smiles.

In accordance with the directives governing Vendetta events in the Brotherhood, the Clan with the most points at the conclusion of Great Jedi War XVI was named First Clan of the Brotherhood, while the Clan with the second and third most points Were Second Clan and Third Clan, respectively.

The individuals earning the most placement points in Great Jedi War XVII were awarded War Hero titles. Members with tie scores were broken following an Olympic-style Novae and placement ranking.

All members who submitted a valid entry to at least one competition were awarded the Techshard Pendant.
Possessions: Clan Recognition
Clans gained a base credit depending on their placement and then participation bonuses received from their members. Consuls were allowed to choose a capital ship upgrade for their clan, going in order of clan placement, and to work with the Regent on developing a unique starship asset for their clan.
