The following article is the culmination of the Brotherhood’s intelligence reports on the enemy organization introduced during the Twelfth Great Jedi War that call themselves the Collective. They would remain a significant threat and major enemy of the Brotherhood, until the faction's apparent destruction in the Seventeenth Great Jedi War.

Organization

"...Until every cage is broken."
Rath Oligard

The Collective was a powerful organization that has risen to not just challenge, but to eradicate the Dark Brotherhood. In the name of equality for all, they would stop at nothing to see the Brotherhood and its cadres of powerful Force-users wiped from the face of the galaxy.

The Three Pillars

As reflected in the iconography of their organization's emblem, the three pillars of ‘’’The Collective’’ represent the three distinct factions that united under the charismatic vision of Rath Oligard and his Liberation Front. Both The Technocratic Guild and Capital Enterprises followed the lead of their central pillar while each maintaining their own unique motivations and machinations.

The Liberation Front

Main article: The Collective: Liberation Front

At the center of these three pillars sat Rath Oligar’s Liberation Front. This faction viewed themselves as the revolutionary spirit of the Collective, the ones who were truly committed to Oligard’s vision of equality for those who lack the powers of the Force. Comprised of soldiers, saboteurs, and militia-like recruits, they were the survivors of the galaxy and the heart and soul of the Collective.

Capital Enterprises

Main article: The Collective: Capital Enterprises

Capital Enterprises were the financial and tactical backbone of the Collective. While they believed in Rath’s vision and agreed that Force User’s need to be purged from the Galaxy, mostly because of how easily they can interfere in politics and economics. Capital Enterprises had their own motivations and goals, but understood they could not do it on their own without the other two pillars.

The Technocratic Guild

Main article: The Collective: Technocratic Guild

The Technocrats were a band of ruthless and efficient mercenaries first served Guildmaster Daggo Mouk, and then Kendra Icasta following his assassination. Each member of the Technocratic Guild had their body augmented or altered with cybernetic enhancements, making them uniquely up for the task of taking on even the most powerful Force Users. Some members were true believers in Rath’s vision, but ultimately they were the branch of the Collective that produced the weapons, gears, and modifications to the ships. Much like Capital Enterprises, they believed that Force User rule is a deterrent to their expansion and feel the threat should be eliminated from the Galaxy. They had been formerly subjected to Imperial rule for decades and had since gone independent, and believed that being a part of The Collective was the best way to keep it so.

Former Stronghold: Nancora

Planet Nancora
Planet Nancora

The Inquisitorius identified the Collectives stronghold on the planet Nancora. An age ravaged world that long since slipped into relative obscurity, Nancora was a major industrial hub during the time of the Old Republic. Home to sweeping cities and a vast industrial complex, its golden age only came to an end thanks to the rapid expansion of its sun, creating massive ecological devastation and transforming much of the world into a wasteland. Although it saw some recovery during the Clone Wars,

Following the conclusion of the Twelfth Great Jedi War, Nancora was been abandoned by the Collective, leaving the battle-scarred planet a shell of its former activity. It has since become a battleground for scavengers and opportunists.

Former Stronghold: Cor'neria System

Cor'neria System

The Cor'neria System was located in an uncharted sector in the Unknown Regions. It does not appear on any star charts or archival records, too small to be registered in the galactic database but enough to support a small planet and a few satellites. It was the primary base of operations for The Collective until its final end. After the destruction of S.T.A.Rs, the location had finally been revealed to the Brotherhood and a following assault saw the Collective's ultimate destruction.

Find more information about the system here.

The Collective Forces

The Collective had both a powerful naval fleet and stolid ground forces. While not a full report, this was the data the Brotherhood received from advanced reconnaissance.

Brotherhood combined forces clash against the Collective Fleet

The Collective's forces were divided up into six battle groups and two command groups, with roughly uniform naval and ground elements. In terms of ground forces, each group fielded between five to seven regiments, each with four battalions of various specialisations and types, depending upon what was required and the faction that they originated from.

The infantry units themselves varied heavily in quality, ranging from poorly-armed and badly-trained cannon fodder of the Fanatic units fielded to the more specialised Mercenaries and elites of the Cyborgs. These each fitted into whatever tasks were best suited for them, with Fanatics most commonly being found among Line Companies, where their zeal and sheer resolve made them ideal for direct slugging matches between troops. By comparison, the Mercenaries commonly filled out the roles of Drop Companies and Assault Companies, allowing for faster moving and harder-hitting forces intended for roles that can best utilise their better experience and training. The Cyborgs were much the same as the Mercenaries, save for greater specialisation in certain roles, such as their Jedi Hunter Companies, intended to counter the widespread presence of Force users among the Brotherhood.

Thanks to the backing of prominent financially stable and technologically advanced groups, the Collective's ground forces also benefitted from substantial mechanized support. These are commonly heavily modified or more advanced variants of common vehicles seen throughout the galaxy, either intended to better fulfil the role of a close-support unit or oppose the Brotherhood's own units. Their version of T-47 Airspeeders lacked the famous harpoon gun of their design, but benefitted instead from a bomb chute, allowing for airstrikes. Perhaps surprisingly for a group that favoured overt firepower and heavy strikes, their military eschewed large assault transports such as the AT-AT in favour of smaller walkers such as the lightly armoured Collective Scout Mechs, and variants of All Terrain Missile Platforms. Longer-range firepower was then provided by the presence of Collective Artillery Cannon Platforms capable of indirect fire, and Collective Heavy Turbolaser Platforms that served as counter to heavily shielded targets.

Navy

Much like their ground vehicles, the Collective Navy consisted of advanced and heavily upgraded variants of commonly seen starships. The most apparent among these were the c100 and a70 variants of Dreadnought-class Heavy Cruisers. These units had been improved and upgraded to remove the class' most notorious shortcomings, featuring heavy automation to dramatically reduce crew requirements and enhance their manoeuvrability. Serving as command and main battle ships respectively, both were capable warships, although the c100 lacked the same level of firepower as the c70 but benefitted from a single support squadron.

The Collective's Dreadnoughts were commonly escorted by similarly improved Strike-class medium cruisers, dubbed the m50. These were roughly comparable to their more commonly seen variants, retaining the same general level of offensive weaponry and starfighter capacity, but with overall enhancements to bolster their strength, speed, and firepower. Much like the original designs, their modular structure remained their greatest strength and weakness, allowing for them to be modified for individual mission parameters, but with structural points that can be targeted and break the vessel apart. Less commonly seen are the i40 variants, that were outfitted with Gravity well projector technology, allowing them to serve in an interdiction role.

Other sights among the fleets were the Lancer-class Collective s20 Frigates, that offered their larger ships a fighter screen thanks to the multitude of point defensive weaponry present across their structure, and Ton-Falk-class escort carriers that further enhanced the number of starfighters present among their battle groups. Much like their ground forces, the starfighter compliment of these fleets consisted of varied cheap and expensive variants, depending upon what is required. While T-70 X-wing and A/SF-01 B-wing starfighters were prominent among their fleets, their numbers were substantially bulked out by far older Z-95 Headhunter squadrons and explosives-rigged Quadrijet space tugs that served as suicide fighters.

The Collective fleet once also benefitted from a number of superweapons in the form of Dreadnaught-class Collective x60 Heavy Cruisers. Unlike the other variants, these were built purely as mobile cannons, outfitted with prototype composite beam lasers and stealth technology. Although powerful, all variants were reportedly destroyed battles with the Brotherhood long before the Collective's end.

Flagship

Captain: Colonel Sul Pahlee

The Dreadnaught-class Skylla served as the Collectives current flagship. Combined with Rath Oligard's deep understanding of the Iron Navy, it was the heart and soul of the destructive force that was the Collective fleet.

Rose Squadron

Rose squadron X-Wing.

Rose Squadron served as the Collective's foremost elite starfighter squadron, operating in a role akin to the New Republic's Rogue Squadron or the Empire's 181st Imperial Fighter Wing. The group primarily utilised T-70 X-wing starfighters.

Captain: Emery Rose

The leader of the Skylla’s best squadron was captained by its best pilot. It is said that Emery Rose had never been forced to eject from her craft. Her record in dogfights was allegedly flawless. With her hand-picked “Rose” Squadron at her side, Emery was one of the most talented fliers to ever defect out of the First Order, and was said to rival the renowned Poe Dameron. The Collective starfighter wings rallied around Rose’ call to arms to destroy every last Brotherhood aircraft in their path during the Collective's existence.

Suicide Bomber Tactics

The Collective was brutal and relentless in their use of modified Quadrijet space tugs that were packed with explosives and helmed by living pilots to maximize damage.

Ground Forces

Collective Crews

While not as prominent as the soldiers that comprise the Collective forces, the various crews and strike teams that formed within the Collective ranks varied in their specializations and operational functions.

Roster:

  • Wayv Sine - Technocrat Engineer
  • Kabir Siad - Technocrat Huntress
  • Kam Faer - Technocrat Soldier
  • Arhet Cetpek - Capital Enterprise Agent

Background/History: As the brainchild of Liberation Front Guard Officer Ling Dao, Trill squad was built around the idea of integrating the Three Pillars of the Collective into one cohesive unit. By combining the varied talents of these very different sub-units into one, Trill Squad was able to take on a wide variety of highly sensitive missions on behalf of Rath Oligard and his leadership team. This squad was formed as a response to the incursion of the unified Dark Jedi Brotherhood clans onto the Collective homeworld of Nancora, partially as a test to see if more coordinated larger-scale operations between the Three Pillars might be possible. The high-level leaders of the Collective had their eyes on Trill Squad as a possible proof of concept.

Additional Information: Trill Squad took its name from the letter in aurebesh writing system. Dao felt that the letter "trill" had the look of three separate pillars being unified into one. Following its foundation there was a great deal of internal squabbling in regards to the best way to approach a mission, but the squad was always unified in their loyalty towards the Collective. Dao, as the leader, provided much of the tactical and strategic support. Siad and Faer were frequently called in when combat skills were required. Sine worked to both maintain the technology used by the team, as well as any cybernetic enhancements, and also worked to improve upon standard issue items. Lastly, Cetpek acted in the capacity of a traditional intelligence agent frequently taking on different cover identities to gather information or identify targets of opportunity.

Roster:

  • Akesha Zaassim (Togruta female, Tank Commander)
  • Aassanu (Zabrak female, Driver)
  • Yem Tradbum (Gungan male, Gunner)
  • Pe Virss (Sullustan Male, Loader/Mechanic)

Background/History: Cobbled together from survivors of various tank crews during the Twelfth Great Jedi War, Broken Arrow became one of the most distinguished tank crews in the Collective Armed Forces. Often found leading daring counter-attacks against Clan forces or holding the line to buy time for a tactical withdrawal, Broken Arrow was greeted with as much adulation as they were anxiety among the still-emotional ranks of the Collective.

Additional Information: The crew had a particularly light-hearted approach to warfare and often tended to make light of the life-threatening situations they found themselves in. Despite everyone having lost several comrades, both in their units and in others, they remained surprisingly upbeat about their endeavour. This would hint at deep psychological scarring of the individuals, though they had passed every psych-evaluation conducted to them and continued to serve effectively. An alternative interpretation of their behavior is that they found comradely and solace in each other, the shared humour a way of dispelling common fears and concerns shared by each individual member, but defeated as a group. Time after time, they skirted certain death and lived to tell the tale, never once abandoning their comrades and risking life and limb to ensure everyone got back home alive.

Akesha Zaassim took particular enjoyment in hunting her prey and had a cold, calculative mind that lived and breathed armoured warfare. She knew her machine and her crew, their strength and weaknesses, and just how far she could push either before they broke. Though she joked around and never backed down from a challenge, when shots ring out, she became focused and alert, the only thing on her mind being the mission. Aassanu, in typical Zabrak fashion, thought she was near-on immortal. Having bailed from the most tanks (and also lost the most comrades), she developed a degree of superstition about survival and never bolted down her hatch. She was an expert driver and viewed the world through her periscope much like Akesha from the turret, often managing to pilot the tank exactly where the commander intended before the latter said a word. Yem Tradbum had a humor like the rest of the crew, though his was by far the coldest. Even Aassanu falls silent at times when Yem cracked jokes over Clan troop transports blowing up like blooberfish. Though he did not admit it, he was losing sight of his right eye after taking a piece of shrapnel to his brow on his third deployment and the crew respected his wishes and not prying, even when he spent the nights bouncing a ball against the barrack ceiling to teach his surviving eye depth-perception.

Pe Virss was the glue that kept the team together and had saved the lives of them all more times than any other. Though he didn't look like much and his position as loader was ceremonial at best, his ability to divert power to keep vital systems rolling when needed, maintain their tank in even the most adverse of situations and frankly magical ability to turn field rations into edible food with the waste heat of their reactor core alone were reason enough for the crew to stand his dry and punny engineer’s wit.

Deemed outside the range of physical capabilities to join the army, a.k.a. too old, the group was assigned onto the Skylla sanitation staff.

Additional Information:

Reassignment did not diminished this band's drive to fight for the cause. Armed with brooms, chemicals, droids, and witty remarks, the Finers would confront any intruders.

These measures could take two forms: offensive countermeasures, such as lethal toxins that can be easily delivered and utilized in battle; or defensive measures, methods of enhancing the physical or mental defences of Technocrat forces through chemical, biological, or neurological enhancement. The Mindbreakers also had access to capture Force Using specimens, testing their theories and creations on those imprisoned by the Technocratic Guild.

Additional Information: Within the Technocratic Guild, The Mindbreakers were only known among the top leadership. Daggo Mouk assumed personal responsibility for the issuing of orders and observation of their progress, wishing to keep the organization and their developments in his own hands, a job now taken by the new Guildmaster. However, upon dealing with AI-like technology, he suffered an accident that destroyed much of his body. Not wanting to lose his brother, Daggo experimented on Fragus, turning him into “Zero” of the new “Project Zero”. Project Zero would be dedicated to returning fallen soldiers to battle by reanimating them with cybernetics that left them easily directed towards singular goals.

Angela, Lilith, and Karmen were all former members of the Brotherhood, killed in battle and implanted with cybernetics so that they could fight once again, just without any of their former personalities or emotions. They became mindless soldiers capable of fighting like droids with the added perk of organic intuition and processing. They took their orders directly from Fragus, and Fragus alone.

Less Famous than the Rose Squadron, each one of the members still had to be tested by Emery Rose as they worked as a backup unit, meant to deal with anyone who was able to successfully target the Rose Squadron. While they didn't have numbers they had plenty of skill, and were a highly aggressive group of pilots.

Additional Information: While not in the same league as the Rose Squadron, this was a backup squadron also built by Emery in one of her few moments of humility to run as a cleanup crew for the Rose Squadron. They existed to pick off those who target Rose Squadron.

Background/History: Steven was approached by Rath Oligard to lead a propaganda effort in order to secretly recruit powerful members into the cause, leading to the founding of S Squad. Similarly to Oligard, Steven Pin'cero had lost family members due to the destruction caused by the Dark Brotherhood. As he assembled his team of sentients from across many of the systems that were controlled by the Clans, it became more evident that propaganda was just as important as brute force.

Additional Information: Members of S Squad had an unwavering loyalty to The Collective, but their vision lay primarily with the Liberation Front. They viewed the other two Pillars as necessary evils in order to accomplish their mission. Therefore, they focused their primary efforts on recruiting and propaganda designed solely for the use by Rath Oligard and the Liberation Front.
