Aabsdu Dupar is a long-serving member and leader within the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, holding nearly every chain of command position while making his way into the ranks of Elders. Born on Onderon to parents forced to hide him away, he spent his early years as a mediocre bounty hunter and fledgling apprentice to a disgraced Jedi, learning little in the ways of the Force. Knowing himself worth so much more, he sought out others like him, and in 23 ABY came across the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.
Joining mere months before the Dictum of Two Skies, he moved quickly through the ranks and leadership of Clan Plagueis, serving loyally during the Sixth Great Jedi War. Eventually, Aabsdu was appointed Consul of Plagueis, and led the clan during the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion of both Antei and the Jusadih System. During the Brotherhood's exile, in 28 ABY, he seized the opportunity to join the Dark Council, and dutifully became Headmaster of the Shadow Academy. As Headmaster, he led the Academy during the Reclamation of Lyspair and Antei. Months of prosperity and the building of a newer, stronger Academy followed, but after four years in the position he felt it was time to move on, and in 33 ABY stepped down. Since then, Aabsdu has silently studied the Force and practiced his arts within the confines of House Revan.
Considered a scholar and intellectual, Aabsdu nevertheless identifies very strongly with the Sith Order, and proudly follows their teachings. He considers knowledge a tool no different than mastery of a lightsaber that can be used to increase one's power and take down one's opponents. He sees the Dark Brotherhood as a similar tool for greater depth within the Force, but he is loyal to those who have supported him. Before joining the Dark Council, Aabsdu spent five years in Clan Plagueis, and holds contact with several there to this day. His time as Headmaster also created a lasting friendship with Taigikori Aybara Dupar, which he takes very seriously, and in general continues to help in the Shadow Academy when he can. Aabsdu knows the value of a good friendship, for both parties, and has used these connections along with his talent for leadership to propel himself to Brotherhood-wide prominence. At the end of the day, however, he remains focused towards his goal of personal mastery within the dark side.
History
Childhood
5 ABY to 20 ABY
Aabsdu was born five years after the Battle of Yavin on the planet of Onderon. His parents were both into politics, his father being a representative in the New Republic Senate for the planet and his mother being his father's handmaiden. The problem, however, was that his father and mother were not married, and their relationship had been keep secret to all save for close friends and families. As such, his birth was kept relatively a secret; it was known he was his mother's son but not his father's. Therefore, the public simply thought a representative's servant had had a child with a lover, unknowing that the lover they thought of was actually very well known to them.
For his toddler years, his mother let him grow up just as any other boy. He went to school, had friends, and so on. His relationship with his dad was known to the boy, but he had been taught not to tell anyone for various reasons. His father use to tell him, "There are a lot of people out there who don't like me. If they know you are my son, they won't like you either"
Aabsdu loved to liked, and liked to be loved, so was smart enough to keep his father a secret just as his parents did him.
In his teen years, he started to show signs of a very smart individual. He was quick thinking, well read, and skilled with a blaster. For these reasons, his father started teaching him some of the first lessons taught when training to become a diplomat. It had been his father's dream that his son would grow up to take his place once he was gone.
He learned enough to become very dignified, hence why he prefers to where smooth elegant white robes rather than the typical black ones. However, his lessons stopped once he reached the age of thirteen, and started showing odd signs. Aabsdu started to do things with his mind that most kids couldn't, early signs of someone who was force sensitive. Due to his father's reputation, he had not been tested by the jedi for fear of being found out who his dad was. His parents had never thought anything would come up in him, though, since as far as they knew the only relationship they had to those force sensitive was ancestors from before the Clone Wars.
They started to grow weary of what he was becoming. They knew that the Jedi would never take him, but were also aware of the evil done by the dark jedi, who were still known from the Galactic Civil War. They told him never to try to use any of his power he had, for it was the devil's power and could only lead to bad things. He listened, but started to dislike his parents more and more as he moved towards the age of fifteen. Everyone around him started to notice that something wasn't right with the teenager, and started to separate themselves from him. He hated the world and everyone in it more and more, especially his father who went from loving his son and teaching him the ways of diplomacy to thinking his son a freak and avoiding him at all costs.
One night, a fire erupted in their loft. His parents had been arguing, and in a small scuffle his dad had knock over a rack of oil that fell right onto the burning stove, thus catching on fire and it all went downhill from there. Aabsdu had been in his room, listening to the fighting through the walls. The last thing he heard was his dad curse, and then his mom scream. He ran into the kitchen to find it almost engulfed in flames, and his mom lying on the ground unconscious.
His dad told him they needed to get out now, but just as they started to leave the room, which was now spreading fire to the rest of the loft, a portion of the roof collapsed right on top of his mother. Aabsdu watched as his mom disappeared forever under a pile of rubble. He grew very anger, especially at his dad. He had to take it out on someone, and it just so happened his father was right there at the time. He pictured everything swelling up inside of him, the dark voice in his head controlling all his actions. By the time his dad turned from his deceased wife back to his son, his son was gone. Instead was a new Aabsdu, a darker and much meaner one.
It is unknown what happened next, but it is known that Aabs used what force he could access, fueled by dark rage, to murder his father. He took his mother's ring out of her jewelry box, an artifact he wears on his hand even today, and escaped before the entire floor collapsed.
Searching for the Light
20 ABY to 21 ABY
As stated before, Aabs isn't stupid. He knew that what he had done was bad, despite not being completely himself at the time. Thus, instead of staying behind he ran where no one could find him. By the time he turned sixteen he was roaming the streets of Onderon, helpless, getting by on whatever he could. Then, one rainy day, he came across another person much older who seemed to be in the same situation as he was. As it turns out, this scavenger had actually been searching for Aabs, having sensed him through the force.
His name was Jedi Knight Genako Haofae, and he had been banished from the Jedi Order for various reasons not needing to be pointed out here. He had been flying by the planet after his exile when he sensed Aabs' dark rage against his father. It had taken him five months to find the young boy, but he did nonetheless.
Aabsdu was desperate, and really wanted to learn more about what he considered the awesome gift bestowed upon him. Master Genako took him in and taught him all that he would need, or at least what he needed to know. He learned how to better access the force, to an extent, as well as wield a sword, but not a lightsaber, which Genako had had taken away from him.
Aabsdu learned as much as he could, although what he learned was probably the equivalent of an Acolyte. He got cocky, however, with his new powers, and decided that there was nothing more his weak exile of a teacher could do for him. One night, almost like he had done to his father, he killed Genako, who had been so unexpectant of the attack and been able to point up only a small fighter before falling the much younger and stronger opponent.
Fall to Darkness
21 ABY to 23 ABY
Afterwards, the new Aabs decided that the light side was no good for him. During his training, Master Genako had only told him what he needed to be all-good. However, the now seventeen year old had realized that the dark side was much more fascinating, fun, and powerful. Again, he grew power hungry, and started searching around for a way to put his skills to the test and continue to train.
He found it in bounty hunting. Over the next year and a half, he took bounties here and there, mainly in the Outer Rim Territories, earning a good deal of income along the way. He preferred to take smaller jobs that he could take his time with, thus learning more, so he never faced any real matches.
He did, however, face two jedi. His bounty had been the jedi master, who at the time of their meeting was traveling with his apprentice. Why Aabs took the job he doesn’t know, but he did and went through with it. He was able to take out the youngling quickly from a distance, but the battle between him and the jedi master lasted but two minutes. Aabsdu attacked, was repelled, attacked again, repelled again. In the end, the closest he ever actually got to the jedi master was close enough to receive a thick scar down the left side of his cheek that is still there today.
This major defeat taught him a lesson, and he finally had it knocked, or sliced, into him that he needed training if he ever wanted to learn as much and become as strong as he wanted. His goal had been to continue to train and learn more about the dark side by way of bounty hunting, and in the end, he accomplished more than that.
Rebirth Within a Brotherhood
23 ABY to 24 ABY
Around 23 ABY, Aabs same across a group of other dark jedi known as the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. He was trained to the rank of Protector by Braecen Kunar, who eventually took him on as his student, and continued to train him until he reached the rank of Jedi Hunter. Only three months after joining the brotherhood, he was already but one step away from his first lightsaber.
Sadly, his long time master was forced to leave the clans for reasons never revealed to Aabs. Suddenly, the young hunter was left masterless, unable to continue his training, and still craving more knowledge he sought. He was quickly taken up by Aerick, who was his master for only one month before going MIA while on a clan mission. Again, Aabsdu was left without a master, and it seemed as if none would seek him out.
That's when one of the most influential people of his life came into the picture. A Dark Jedi Knight known as Gaidal Dupar, who had been training alongside Aabs for most of his career, but been aware of him, saw potential in the boy, and took him on as his first student. They trained for two months constantly, all the while becoming greater and greater friends. During this time, Aabsdu was offered the Al'Tor family name, which Gaidal also held, and accepted it thankfully. It was also during this time that he started to make himself known in the clan. It was Gaidal, who by now was Aedile of House Exar Kun, who offered Aabsdu his first leadership position as Battleteam Leader of Battle Team Exar's Shadow. The still Jedi Hunter accepted it, and excelled greatly. He brought the team to new heights, while still a journeyman, and even after he was finally knighted and built his first lightsaber.
Aabsdu and Gaidal continued to be great friends, as the latter greatly influenced and altered to former's life. Aabsdu continued to act as Battle Team Leader for the next six months, over which time he was promoted again to Sith Warrior. It was also during this time that Aabs became a blood brother of Gaidal, taking on the name Dupar. Life was good, but it seemed like deja vu to the warrior, for just like his childhood had gone from bad to worse, his DB career seemed to do the same.
In an attack on House Exar Kun by the famed Crimson Tide, Gaidal went missing. Suddenly, the house's Aedile, since Gaidal was by now the Quaestor, was moved into the Quaestor position. Aedile was now open, and Aabsdu took the chance to do what he knew his great friend and brother would wish him to do, run for the position.
Sure enough, he made it, and from here on life was indeed great for Aabsdu Dupar al'Tor. He went from Aedile to Quaestor in a matter of three months, continuing to make himself more known in the clan and brotherhood, and becoming good friends with the clan leadership at the time. The brotherhood was doing good, the clan was doing good, the house was doing good, and Aabs was doing good. Everything was great.
Then, good turned into shaky, and shaky turned into bad. Then, bad turned into a Great Jedi War...
Great Jedi War
24 ABY to 25 ABY
When the Sixth Great Jedi War first started Aabsdu was Aedile of House Exar Kun. He watched as the brotherhood started to split all around him, just as he had read had happened when the brotherhood split from the Emperor's Hammer. For a while, though, Clan Plagueis didn't get too involved except at the political level.
After the first month ended, however, the clans started to side with the Jac they thought was real. Aabsdu was never sure himself which of these two Jac Cotelins was the real one, but he sided with the Red Jac, as did all of Clan Plagueis. Still, the clan kept to itself, simply battling the problems the Great Jedi war was causing from within.
When Aabsdu's friend and brother, Gaidal Dupar, arrived on Aerun he was one of the first to greet him. Sadly, though, the Aedile could tell something was up. He started to spy on Gaidal, and when the Warrior left on a mission Aabsdu followed him, against the will of Quaestor Scorpius. He followed him to Gaidal's homeworld, where they traveled through one of the main cities. Aabs knew something was about to happen, but just as he was ready to continue on his quest he received word from Jonaleth that Diadem Fortress was under attack.
Aabsdu returned to Aerun, leaving Gaidal to tend to his own business. When he arrived at the fortress, he found the battle was already over, and did his Aedile duties of helping clean up the mess. After that, Clan Plagueis was officially a part of the Sixth Great Jedi War.
They quickly gathered plans to attack, and went on their way. During the attack, however, Scorpius went MIA, and Aabsdu was boosted to Quaestor. It was also during this attack that he came in contact with Gaidal once again, who seemed couldn't escape House Exar Kun. By the end of the attack, as well as the end of the war, Clan Plagueis has returned to the Jusadih System severely damaged. Gaidal had been injured, his right hand blown off completely, and was being healed as much as possible in a bacta tank. While the clan licked its wounds, Proconsul Salth went off on a secret mission, and just as Scorpius went MIA. Sarin chose Aabsdu as his new Proconsul, and together they started to work to rebuild Clan Plagueis as the Sixth Great Jedi War came to a close
Leadership
25 ABY to 27 ABY
Towards the end of the 25th year after the Battle of Yavin, Consul of Clan Plagueis Sarin Dantes resigned from his position of power and moved into the position of Deputy Grand Master to Jac Cotelin himself. His Proconsul, Aabs, moved into the highest seat of power in the clan, and took control with a goal and doing good things. He set forth the clan to rebuilt itself from the Great Jedi War, and become stronger and more efficient in case other attacks such as the Assault on Diadem were to happen again. During his reign of half a year, Aabsdu help to start a great number of projects that would continue in the hands of his predecessor.
As time drew on, however, he became troubled, and could no longer do his job as he wished to. Acting in the best of the clan, he stepped down from his position, and slid back into regular membership, for the first time in nearly three years. Yet, no matter what he did he could not stop himself from once again being pulled into a position of leadership. After a few months of leisure time and vacation, he was appointed Praetor to the Master at Arms, and soon afterwards was once again given the position of Clan Plagueis Consul.
One Word: Vong
27 ABY
For a brief time Aabsdu enjoyed a quiet time as Consul, working to get himself situated once again into the position and begin his work towards improving Clan Plagueis. During the Rite of Supremacy, he fought alongside his clan to earn the title of Third Clan, and was proud of what had been established.
Yet, while at the award ceremonies for the Rite of Supremacy, the fleet of Clan Plagueis, and the Brotherhood itself, was attacked by a group of aliens known as the Yuuzhan Vong. Aabsdu, as Consul, took charge of his fleet, and ordered them to retreat further into the Shroud, for he knew that Plagueis could not stand up to the might of the Yuuzhan Vong. When attacked again, his fleet attempted to fleet the Shroud completely, only to be pushed backwards towards Antei.
Commanding the fleet from the Vengeance, he worked constantly for a week to keep his fleet alive as the Vong, and clans, fought each other for power and control. Then, finally, he and the other clans were able to escape the Antei System and return to their home systems. The fleet of Clan Plagueis had been severely wounded, however, and Aabsdu knew it would be a while before the clan was repaired and restored to its former state.
When he returned to the Jusadih System, he found that it, too, had been attacked by the Yuuzhan Vong, and Aerun, homeworld of his original house, Exar Kun, had been all but wiped clean. Frustrated, he set to work along with a new set of leaders to work to return the system, fleet, Clan Plagueis as a whole to its former state. The Great Jedi War had set them back, but nonetheless he was ready to work to move forward once again. Further and farther.
Headmaster
28 ABY to Present
In the chaos that followed the Vong Incursion, Headmaster of the Shadow Academy Anshar Kahn Tarentae, stepped down, returning to his native clan to help them rebuild. Despite the ruins Clan Plagueis had been left in, Aabsdu had long been involved with the Academy, and in 28 ABY seized the opportunity to rise to the Dark Council as Headmaster, leaving his home clan in good hands. Yet, the Shadow Academy was in no better state than the clans, if not worse. With Antei lost, so was Lyspair, leaving the Academy homeless, stranded in the galaxy. All studies were moved to the mobile Arcanum, as was the command of the Academy. For two years, Aabsdu worked to keep the Academy stable, indeed even expanding the degrees and courses offered. By 30 ABY, the Academy had stabilized, but still its teachers, students, and staff longed to return to Lyspair. Plans were formulated and strategies were made for the penultimate return to Antei.
Finally, during the Ninth Great Jedi War, the Dark Council and all the forces of the six clans stormed Antei, where they were met by the indomitable forces of the Jedi Master Omancor Crask. Undeterred, Grand Master Sarin lay siege to Antei. While the battle raged planet side, however, Aabsdu's calling would prove to be in orbit. Taking command of his flagship, the Arcanum, Aabsdu and the Shadow Academy assisted the battle any way they could. Stationed in reserve, a surprise attack by Omancor's forces nearly ripped apart the Arcanum, forcing Aabsdu and the entire crew to abandon the ship they had called home for nearly three years.
Aabsdu was largely unaware of the events taking place among the main fleet, but on his return he found acting-Grand Master Muz Ashen making plans to use the still intact but useless Arcanum for one last surge. Watching from the bridge of the Firefox, Aabsdu admired his Academy's flagship as it plunged towards Crask's Imperial Star Destroyer, jumping to hyperspace as it neared, and disappearing in a ball of fire and debris.
Antei had been reclaimed, Crask had been defeated. As for the Shadow Academy, Headmaster Dupar returned to Lyspair after three years of exile, finally home. From Lyspair, the future of the Shadow Academy would be determined, and a glorious future it would prove to be...

Trivia
- The name Aabsdu was created by simply combining random letters of the alphabet, and was made specifically for the GJW. Today, however, Aabs uses it for most of his RPG aspects. Dupar is a family name bestowed upon him by his old friend Gaidal Dupar. Before joining the Shadow Academy as Headmaster, Aabsdu also held the clan title
di Plagia, given to him by Aristan Dantes, but has since dropped it.
- During Aabsdu's second year in the Brotherhood, he had his only encounter with the Chamber of Justice. At the time, he had a large role in the DBPA, acting as webmaster for the organization's website, a position he also held for the Clan Plagueis website. Foolishly, he copied the template of his clan's site and used it for the DBPA without contacting the creator. When the creator discovered the plagiarism, he took the matter to the Justicar. Aabsdu apologized and was awarded a Letter of Reprimand that was removed after six months, and the matter never went past mediation. Ironically, he was punished on his birthday, August 13.
- Aabsdu's original lightsaber is covered in scripture of an ancient Sith text. It roughly translates into a summary of his life up to the point of joining the Dark Brotherhood, along with numerous quotes and epitaphs of old Sith Lords. At the end, it reads: And thus, I was reborn into the darkness, and I saw the Light of Truth. After the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion, Aabsdu built a new pair of dual lightsabers designed to reflect the hardships endured by the Shadow Academy's exile from Lyspair, as well as its subsequent return under his leadership.
- Aabsdu's original warbanner was a simple tan with an image of a satellite, representing objects with both light and dark sides, and how flowing from one to the other is as simple and common as the revolving of a sphere. During his time on the Dark Council, he had fashioned a new warbanner with the same symbolism, but sporting a design that better represented his Sith principles.
