MAIN MILITARY ARTICLE

Arms of the Military

The military of Clan Scholae Palatinae consists of 7 arms. Among the ground forces, Imperial Scholae Guard are the unit that defend the clan territory, the Expeditionary Force are the clan's primary ground attack, the Marine Corps hold the naval infantry, and the Praetorian Guard are tasked with the defence of the Emperor. The Imperial Navy's larger ships fall under the Imperial Fleet, while the clan's fighter craft make up the Fighter Corps. Finally, Imperial Scholae Intelligence are tasked with special operations. Each arm of the military is led by one of Scholae Palatinae's seven War Councillors. The majority of recruitment for the clan's forces come from a compulsory three years of military service to commence from within 5 years after reaching maturity for the species.

Imperial Scholae Guard

The Imperial Scholae Guard are the main defence force of the clan, tasked with defending and maintaining order in Cocytus System, led by the Surface Marshal with the assistance of high ranking Generals and are the largest unit in the clan's military. Stationed on every world in the Cocytus System and with outposts on most moons, the Imperial Scholae Guard will be called into action if war emerges anywhere in the clan's territory. They are a versatile unit and have at their disposal a range of transport vehicles, heavily armoured tanks, infantry, and surface to air artillery. The Imperial Scholae Guard are also the unit called upon to quell unrest in the system, and are frequently called upon even in times of peace in support of the civilian police force. The Imperial Scholae Guard are primarily recruited through military conscription.

Expeditionary Force

The Expeditionary Force is the main attack force of the Scholae Palatinae Military, led by the Field Marshal with Generals in support. They are the largest unit in the clan after the Imperial Scholae guard, and are mostly garrisoned on the clan's capital, Judecca, and on the clan's warships for rapid deployment. When the clan is called into war outside of its own territory, the Expeditionary Force are the first into battle. They carry a large assortment of heavily armoured vehicles for combat effectiveness in any climate and any terrain, and also employ a large amount of scouts and marksmen to survey the area. The Expeditionary Force are primarily recruited through military conscription.

Marine Corps

The Scholae Palatinae Marine Corps handle ship to ship combat, led by the Commandant and Generals. They are smaller in number than Imperial Scholae Guard and the Expeditionary Force as their area of responsibility is considerably smaller in size. They are the infantry units garrisoned on every warship in the Imperial Fleet, tasked with both defending Scholae Palatinae's own capital ships, as well as boarding and attacking the enemy's from the inside. The marines consist almost entirely of elite infantry wielding blaster rifles. They are elite troops typically hand picked from the best soldiers of the Imperial Scholae Guard and the Expeditionary Force.

Praetorian Guard

The Praetorian guard are tasked with guarding the Emperor, and are led by the Commander of the Guard. Due to the very specific nature of their purpose, they are the smallest arm of the Scholae Palatinae Military, but are also one of the most prestigious, recruiting only the very best soldiers from across all arms of the military. Their home garrison is the Imperial Palace on Judecca, although a large contingent of guardsmen will always follow the Emperor wherever he happens to be. The Praetorian Guard consist primarily of infantry units.

Imperial Fleet

The Imperial Fleet, led by the Fleet Admiral, is the body of all the ships in the Imperial Navy larger than a gunboat. They are tasked with the both the defence of Cocytus System space, and where needed, the attack and conquest of enemy systems. The ships in the Imperial Fleet range in size from the clan's flagship, the NSD Dark Paladin, to frigates and assault craft. The clan's Space Station, the Dynasty II, also falls within the jurisdiction of the Imperial Fleet. Recruits are largely from conscripts brought into the military at cadet level.

Fighter Corps

The Scholae Palatinae Fighter Corps contain the small agile ships in the Imperial Navy. They are led by the Ace Admiral. The Fighter Corps are stationed on the large warships of the Imperial Fleet, and are tasked with defending their host ship from enemy attack by engaging enemy craft and attacking the opposing capital ships. For this purpose, they primarily consist of TIE Hunters, TIE Interceptors, gunboats and bombers. Conscripts recruited into the Fighter Corps must first pass a training regime before being allowed to fly a ship solo. They are also recruited from famous bounty hunters and smugglers with excellent piloting skills.

Imperial Scholae Intelligence

Imperial Scholae Intelligence is the most secretive and mysterious of the arms of the military. In addition to intelligence, they also handle special operations including sabotage and assassination. Led by the Director General known only by the codename M, they operate from the Imperial Capital, Ohmen. this unit employs a large number of non-combat analysts and technicians from the civilian population. Special operatives are experts in the arts of manipulation and subterfuge, and employ as many methods to achieve their goals as there are agents in the unit. The Imperial Scholae Intelligence are the only arm that run solo missions, and as such are the arm that most frequently employ the support of the clan's Dark Jedi. The combat personnel are special operatives hand picked from the Expeditionary Force and Imperial Scholae Guard, and also sometimes recruited from famous bounty hunters and smugglers with excellent combat and subterfuge skills.

Command Structure and Ranking

The Scholae Palatinae military is led by 7 war councillors responsible for the Marine Corps, the Imperial Scholae Guard, the Expeditionary Force, the Praetorian Guard, the Fleet, the Fighter Corps, and Imperial Scholae Intelligence. The war councillors are typically Dark Jedi of Clan Scholae Palatinae. The arms of the military are categorised into the Ground Forces, the Imperial Navy, and the Intelligence.

Ground Forces

The ground forces consist of the Marine Corps (led by the Commandant), the Imperial Scholae Guard which deals with ground defence (led by the Surface Marshal), the Expeditionary Force that deals with out-of-system battles (led by the Field Marshal), and the Praetorian Guard tasked with the protection of the Emperor (led by the Captain of the Guard).

The command structure of the ground forces is linear, with the Generals falling in place directly behind their respective War Councillor. The Generals typically do not venture on to the field of battle, and are the primary tacticians of the army. They are comprised of the most experienced soldiers in the ground forces. Generals are in command of a division of four regiments, which are commanded by a Colonel.

Each regiment is divided into four legions, led by a Major. The Majors are typically the highest rank that venture out into the field of battle on a regular basis. Each legion is a fully functional versatile fighting force, with heavy vehicles, scouts, snipers, infantry and artillery under its command. Majors also have the opportunity to request the support of Special Agents from the ISI. A legion is made up of a number of companies, led by a Captain.

Companies are more focused units excelling in a particular area. While the majority of companies are infantry based, there are also companies for all areas of warfare, including vehicular support. Companies are formed from a number of platoons, led by a Lieutenant, which in turn consisted of squads, led by a Sergeant. An infantry squad typically consisted of 10 troops of the ranks of Private and Corporal (for Marine and Expeditionary) or Guard and Senior Guard (for Praetorian and Scholae Guard). Other squads varied in size according to their task.

Dark Jedi exist outside of the typical command structure. Those of the rank of Elder or above can assume command of an entire legion, and is entitled to the rank of General for military matters. Equite 3 or higher may assume the title of Major, and may commandeer units of company or lower. Any Equite can claim the title of Captain and take command of a Platoon. Dark Jedi Knights can take the title of Lieutenant, and command a squad. Journeymen are not given direct command of soldiers, but may request the use of a squad from the relevant platoon Lieutenant.

Regiment (4 legions) Colonel
Legion (many companies) Major
Company (many platoons) Captain
Platoon (many squads) Lieutenant
Squad (approximately 10 troops) Sergeant

Imperial Navy

The Imperial Navy contains two arms of the military: the Fighter Corps, led by the Ace Admiral, and the Fleet, led by the Grand Admiral. The Ace Admiral deals with the small starfighters at the command of the clan, while the Grand Admiral is tasked with the command of the larger fleets, and is commands the largest ship in the navy, the NSD Dark Paladin.

Admirals the the Naval equivalent of the General and typically command the largest ships in the Navy, or in the case of the Fighter corps, they command corps consisting of two divisions. Admirals are supported by their second in command, the Vice Admiral.

One down from the Admirals are the Captain, who in the Fleet, command medium-sized ships with the assistance of a Commander or assist with the command of ships led by an Admiral, or in the Fighter Corps, command a division of two or more wings, each led by a Wing Commander. A wing is composed of three squadrons

Lieutenants are the lowest rank which command their own ships in the fleet. Lieutenants are assisted by Ensigns. In the Corps, the equivalent rank is squad leader, which command a squadron. Squadrons are made of a number of flight teams of four fighter pilots led by an Ace Pilot. The lowest ranks in the Navy are the Cadets, who are mostly students training for a role as an Ensign.

Dark Jedi exist outside of the typical command structure. Those of the rank of Elder or above can assume command of a capital ship or division, and is entitled to the rank of Admiral for military matters. Equite 3 or higher may assume the title of Captain, and may commandeer medium sized ships or a division. Any Equite can claim the title of Commander and take command of a wing. Dark Jedi Knights can take the title of Lieutenant or Squad leader, and command a squad. Journeymen are not given direct command of the fleet, but may request the use of a squad from the relevant Wing Commander.

Intelligence

The unique structure of Imperial Scholae Intelligence is reflective of its unique role in the clan military and large number of non-combat personnel. Eschewing the traditional linear rank structure, ranks within ISI are more descriptive of the individual’s role and speciality. The supreme commander of ISI is the Director General, code-named M. The ISI operates in the shadows, and very little of its command structure is known to the general public. The ISI is divided into operatives, who handle the field work, analysts, who maintain a consistent body of up-to-date information, and research & development, technicians who ensure the maintenance and development of physical assets.

Agents make up the bulk of the operatives, and are recruited directly from the ground forces. Typically battle-proven soldiers yet to master the arts of subterfuge, agents are tasked with easier, less sensitive missions, such as theft and observation. Special agents are hand picked from the agents, and are trusted with more complex and dangerous tasks, such as sabotage and counter-terrorism. Finally, the Cipher Agents title is given only to the ten greatest operatives within the ISI. They are known only by their Cipher designation, e.g., Cipher Seven. The Ciphers are used sparingly and only for the most important of tasks, such as assassination of high profile targets. The Ciphers were under the command of only the Director General. Dark Jedi were also occasionally used as operatives at the request of M for missions only a Force user was capable of, although they still only answer to the Emperor.

Analysts made up the greatest number of ISI personnel and were typically recruited from the general public, from a diverse background of ex-business managers to software engineers. Analysts were tasked with obtaining information from the safety of the ISI offices. Their main tasks involved background research, hacking enemy systems, and analysis of information gained by the operatives. A senior analyst was promoted to the title of Watcher, who lead teams of analysts. They maintained a feedback loop with the operatives, in which analysts provided mission-specific intelligence intelligence to the operatives, and the operatives fed back information obtained on the mission. The analysts were managed by an individual code-named A. A is the only analyst with the responsibility of guiding Dark Jedi in the field.

In research and development, technicians are the scientists, engineers and mechanics. They are scientists recruited from civilian universities. They develop the advanced computer systems required by the analysts and the specialist weaponry and gadgets required by the operatives, including bioweapons, bombs, camouflage and exploding pens. Successful inventions are also sometimes employed by the rest of the military. Senior technicians are promoted to the rank of Fixer, who lead teams of technicians. The technicians are lead by an individual named Q, who was typically Scholae Palatinae’s greatest scientist.

Scholae Palatinae, often just referred to as CSP, is one of the seven Clans of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Scholae Palatinae began as Clan Scholae Palatinae, before its fragmentation into a House in 33 ABY, then return to a Clan in 38 ABY under the decree of Grandmaster Pravus.

This page provides a brief overview of the clan. History

Pre-Exodus

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Emperor Palpatine tasked specific Dark Jedi within his intelligence division to serve as guards to the greatest secrets and storehouses the Empire had. They would be known as the Emperor's Guards. After the battle of Endor, the intelligence division lay in partial ruin. When the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet formed out of the collapsing Empire, intelligence on the Emperor's Guards were salvaged and from this new information a new unit would be born. This unit was House Scholae Palatinae.

Scholae Palatinae quickly gained many members, attracting those who valued the secrets of the dark side, and even some of the light This influx of membership allowed the House to be formed quickly into a Clan, bringing with it three houses below it; House Dorimad Sol, House Acclivis Draco, and House Caliburnus. From this membership, Clan Scholae Palatinae was able to obtain the Victory-class Star Destroyer Excidium and a Modified Corvette, Victory. With these new ships, Scholae Palatinae was able to move from their increasingly harsh world onto a world that was better off, keeping itself alive.

However, the liveliness would be in vain. The Star Chamber decided to destroy Clan Scholae Palatinae for reasons that have never been fully revealed. While the members of Caliburnus had been decimated, the members of Dorimad Sol and Acclivis Draco were placed into Clan Arcona and had dangerous experiments were performed on them. Soon after though, it was discovered House Caliburnus had not been destroyed and was a thriving society instead. Surprising the Star Chamber, Caliburnus was allowed to regain its former members and given the ability to rebuild Clan Scholae Palatinae again. Thus ended the first Great Jedi War for the Clan, and the beginning of Scholae's hatred for Arcona.

The Exodus

Outside Clan Scholae Palatinae, the dark side was changing. The Star Chamber had rumblings of change, and the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet was slowly become corrupted with greed and power from the inside out. Rumors of "unfortunate accidents" and strange power plays consumed the dark corners of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.

Inside Scholae, similar events occurred. Apprentices and other Journeymen were chastised quicker, and punished frequently. Equites were given either nothing to do out of spite, or many things to do out of malice, But the leadership knew what was going on. Thus would begin the Exodus. The Seven along with most of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood would help evacuate all of its holdings along with most of the loyal members. And when they left their system, they demolished everything behind them, as to make sure the Emperor's Hammer could not find out where they went; the Shroud. And for Scholae Palatinae specifically, the Cocytus System.

Post-Exodus

Over the next many years, Clan Scholae Palatinae would enter or be pulled into many conflicts to aid the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. During the War of the Star Chamber, Scholae was influenced by a corrupted Jac Cotelin, but they were able to reclaim their honor. During the Third Brotherhood Civil War, Scholae would unite reluctantly with Clan Arcona and Clan Taldryan to defend against an exact clone of then Grand Master Jac Cotelin.

But it would be during the military preparedness exercise, Second Darkness, that the Clan would finally get its long time revenge on Clan Arcona. During the victory celebrations, the Yuuzhan Vong had entered Brotherhood space. It was during this time that Consul Braecen Kaeth had fired upon the Arconan vessel, Eye of the Abyss, in order to leave it as fodder for the Brotherhood's escape. But the Arconans, instead of going back to their own system, attempted to regroup and tow themselves to the Cocytus System in order to conquer it from a weakened Vong and Clan Scholae Palatinae.

Although fighting did occur, the Vong were overwhelming. Clan Arcona and Clan Scholae Palatinae both had to fight off the Vong in an alliance of sorts in order to save themselves and escape to the Shroud. It would be during the following months that each Clan would attempt to take back their systems from an overconfident Yuuzhan Vong. The Reclamation of Judecca was an official retaking of most of the Cocytus system as well as Judecca, the Scholae base planet.

Under Grand Master Sarin, the Dark Jedi Brotherhood was united and was tasked with taking back Antei. Clan Scholae Palatinae was given both the tasks of clearing out the Shroud as well as landing Dark Jedi ground troops in order to attack specific locations. Scholae knew going through the Shroud would mean definite casualties, but the Grand Master and Clan Arcona thought of it as justice for the disabling of Eye of the Abyss. However, when the Brotherhood arrived at Antei, the Vong were utterly destroyed by a Jedi Master known as Omancor Crask. Him, his students, and many war droids fought off the Vong and claimed Antei as their own. The original plans were still in place, but now the Dark Brotherhood would be fighting off rogue Jedi. Scholae aided in the defeat of the Jedi as well as the reclamation of different special places on Antei.

New Life and Death

Many different conflicts erupted after the events of the Yuuzhan Vong and Crask. The Dark Council tasked the Clans in killing the Killiks on Salas V. The victor, who would end up being independent House Revan, would claim ownership of the planet.

When a rogue Grand Master Zoraan arrived to attempt to retake the Brotherhood, Clan Scholae Palatinae had helped to fight off the former Grand Master, and when the One Sith attempted to destroy the Brotherhood shortly after from the inside, Scholae aided Grand Master Muz Ashen in his crusade against the One Sith, claiming the planet Korriz in the process for themselves. However, Muz Ashen had also attempted the Rite of Immortality, destroying Antei in the process and almost destroying Korriban.

However, in the middle of the Dark Crusade, the Cocytus system went through some troubles. The government of the system saw an opportune time to take over the monarchy and establish a personal dictatorship. With the aid of Imperial Intelligence and Battleteam Caliburnus, Emperor Xen'Mordin Vismorsus was able to assassinate the rogue leader and his followers as well as establish a new order in the system severely loyal to the Consul and Dark Jedi of Scholae Palatinae.

In the destruction of Antei's surface, the surviving members of old enemies came out from the shadows. Old members of the Cause, people who had spied for or worked with the Yuuzhan Vong, or those who believed in the corrupted teachings of Jaac Cotelin, the One Sith, or former Grand Master Zoraan had come together to form a militia that would attack the Cocytus system (the first in a long line of systems they wanted to cause destruction in). However, the Clan united and easily put a stop to the terrorist threat.

Modernity

Clan Scholae Palatinae went through a mass restructuring after all these crises. The current battleteams were absorbed into the Clan structure itself and new Houses were established; Excidium and Imperium. House Imperium gained a battleteam by the name of Shadow Guard, with battleteam Acclivis Draco remaining a separate entity within the Clan.

Clan Hierarchy

House Excidium

House Excidium is known for their warriors and battle hardened Clan members. They excel in combat and define the roles set out before them. When called to battle, members of Excidium go above and beyond, placing themselves in field and combat positions in times of war, and security positions in times of relative harmony. Members within Excidium are not defined solely by combat though. What drives them is passion; passion to succeed and to live beyond the bureaucracies of life.

House Imperium

House Imperium is a house that lays back and views things from afar. They have patience and a care for knowledge and context. Combat is important, but what happens behind the lines is more important than the front of the lines to Imperium. When war breaks out, Imperium will be the first to know and the first to lay out a plan. In relative peace, they perform more operational duties. Members of Imperium can fight boldly when necessary, however they would rather define themselves by their ability to overpower the enemy through forethought and knowledge. What drives them is understanding; knowledge in the world around them and knowledge in the eyes of others.

Battleteam Shadow Guard

Within House Imperium exists the Shadow Guard. To the general public, this group does not exist. The existence of this group is on a need to know basis. They protect the leaders of House Imperium from outside attacks, especially considering House Imperium is focused more on knowledge rather than combat. They strike from where the enemy usually doesn't look; the shadows.

Battleteam Acclivis Draco

Battleteam Acclivis Draco is a group of advisors and influential members who have chosen to retire until needed by the Clan. When called upon, they represent the best of the Clan and outperform every member in their entirety. However, they are used sparingly.

Dominion

At a time before the Exodus, the Grand Master dispatched then Consul, Cuchulain Darkblade, to search the Shroud for systems fit for the Brotherhood Clans. Coming upon the Imperius star, Cuchulain decided that this would be the domain for Clan Scholae Palatinae. He would name the system Cocytus, and it's planets Antenora (home of Acclivis Draco), Judecca (capital of the Clan, and of House Imperium), Ptolomea (home of House Excidium), Caina, Iblis, and Vassago. This would be the place where Scholae Palatinae calls home even today.

The only other gain made to the dominion of Scholae was during the Dark Crusades. The planet Korriz was conquered and subsequently settled by members of the Clan. For what it will be used for is unknown to all but the Consul at this time.

Government and Politics

Clan Scholae Palatinae is an Imperial Monarchy with traits of shadow governance. The Clan has both a front and a shadow portion. The frontal government is what the people see and what they interact with at all times. The shadow government is what truly exists what most military, economic, and political leaders know about, but for their own safety keep quiet about. The Clan also operates an economic system within and outside the boundaries of the Clan that is viewed as first tier by the people inside. Much of the economics goes toward scientific research and development.

Shadow Government

The Consul functions as the Tyrant of the system and clan. All decisions go through them with their direct approval or disapproval. The Proconsul is the Grand Marshal and Second in Command of the system and is in control of all Clan military forces. The Clan Rollmaster is given the position of System Moff. The System Moff controls all the operations and position-fillings that go on within the system itself. They are Third in Command of the Clan. The Imperial Senate is made up of the rest of the Dark Jedi within the Clan They are mere advisors to the Moff, Marshal, and Tyrant, and have no legitimate authority over any of them.

Government Front

The Consul is the Emperor of the Monarchy. The Proconsul and Rollmaster maintain the same positions as they do in the shadow government, however the Rollmaster has more to do with the "democratic" substances within the systems. A Senate exists, but only as a go-between for the shadow government and the government front. Kings and Queens exist either in the form of nobles or clan members that form the rulers of the Cocytus system. Although it is perceived that they have leeway with the Emperor, they do not. For every planet and moon, there exists a Duke or Duchess that controls the planet The Dukes and Duchesses usually have no idea about the shadow government.

Military

The Scholae Palatinae Military is made up of seven major forces: the Imperial Scholae Guard, the Expeditionary Force, the Praetorian Guard, the Fleet, the Fighter Corps, and Imperial Scholae Intelligence. With the Consul at the head of the military, the Grand Marshal is responsible for carrying out the orders of the military, and is trusted with strategic modifications for the Clan. Each major force of the military also has an individual War Councilor that deals with the day to day operations and readiness of their specific arm of the military.

The War Councilors are the Surface Marshal (E.F.), Field Marshal (Guard), Commandant General (Marines), Fleet Admiral (Fleet), Ace Admiral (S.C.), Commander of the Guard (P.G.), and Director General (ISI). The ranking structure exists in three different lines, the Ground Forces, the Imperial Navy, and the ISI.

The main battle formations of Clan Scholae Palatinae involve three main flotillas, as well as advanced forces for Judecca. The Expeditionary Forces are on the flotillas, while the Guards occupy each and every planet in the system. The Praetorian Guards are based on Dynasty Station II and Judecca close to the Royal Palace. The Starfighter Corps operate throughout the system and from the flotillas. The Marines operate wherever they are required during war time. Imperial Scholae Intelligence works throughout all systems and fleets wherever their services are required.

Legacy

Leadership

Clan Scholae Palatinae has a long line of leadership represented in both Clan and House format. The following table is a history of that leadership.

MOTHERFUCKING TABLE

Titles and Service Awards

Clan Scholae Palatinae has three different ways to reward members for service to the Clan. The primary reward is being given the Clan Title of Palpatine. Those who gain this name prove themselves worthy to the Clan members who already hold this title. Another way to be rewarded is with the Dark Paladin position. Dark Paladins have proven to the Clan their skills as a warrior, diplomat, and/or leader, achieving excellence in all they attempt. Lastly, the honor of being an influential member within the Clan is given to a rare few. Those who change the course of history of the Clan for the better are given this honor.

Traditions and Artifacts

Clan Scholae Palatinae, through its long history, has gained a few artifacts and traditions that allow the Clan to be different on a social level. Whether they be ancient map scraps, or legendary tales involving Caliburnus, the Clan has a duty to keep these artifacts protected and traditions alive, even when the Clan evolves into new traditions.
