A former officer of the Emperor's Hammer, Dante served as both Consul of Arcona and Prefect of the Hammer's Fist Legion. Having left the Emperor's Hammer and become a mercenary in the Outer Rim for a few years, Dante and his family have settled in the Cocytus System where he has affiliated with Clan Scholae Palatinae. A tenacious warrior on the ground, Dante was very active in the defense and reclamation of Judecca from the Vong. Although well trained in the arts of the Dark Side, Dante is a soldier first, an Imperial second, and a practitioner of the Force last. He was killed during a Brotherhood campaign while fighting alongside Fremoc Pepoi, and his son Kell Dante has never forgiven the Fist for his father's death.

Character History

Growing up on Corellia

Born to an Imperial officer who was a veteran of the Clone Wars and a teacher, Dante grew up in a fairly stable home situation as his father was normally on the planet while his mother worked at a local school. He was a normal kid who enjoyed sports, games, and eventually girls as he got a bit older. His grades were excellent at school, and his one goal was to become an Imperial officer like his father. The day that his acceptance letter to the Imperial Academy was one of the happiest days of his life.

Imperial Academy

During his first year at the Academy everything was going extremely well until both of us parents died: his father in a shuttle crash and his mother from a rare disease that she contracted on a field trip with her class. After these tragedies, Dante threw himself into his studies. He steadily progressed through his courses, and he was ranked near the top of his class going into his final year. He graduated with honors and was commissioned a 2LT in the Stormtrooper Corps.

Service to the Galaxy

Dante considered the Imperial form of government the only way to control the galaxy and maintain order, and he followed this ideal throughout his time as a commander. He commanded a number of platoons before being put through Storm Commando training in 7 ABY. The now Captain Dante fought in numerous engagements against he forces of the freshly created New Republic, and he was rewarded with a promotion to the rank of Major in 10 ABY. With the rebirth of the Emperor, Dante felt as if the times were changing for the better as soon the chaos of the New Republic would be replaced again with the order of the Empire.

Leaving the Empire

That is when the Empire decided to come apart with the final death of the Emperor and the destruction of the last of the great superweapons of the Empire. Even though the New Republic forces hadn't managed to defeat all of the Imperial forces throughout the galaxy, Dante had decided that this version of the Empire wasn't going to last. He packed up his gear, resigned from the Army, and headed off to Corellia to find work as a bodyguard or a mercenary. As a former stormtrooper, work wasn't that hard to find, but it wasn't as easy or glamorous as he thought it would be.

Life as a Mercenary

After the training that he had received at the Academy, the technical aspect of being a corporate bodyguard wasn't hard, but the complete decadence that Dante experienced took some getting used to as he watched over the various executives to which he was assigned. During the years between his leaving the Empire and joining the forces of the Emperor's Hammer, Dante protected a number of these bigwhigs against assassination attempts, kidnappings, and bombings. After one such mission, a uniformed figure came up to him and introduced himself as a recruiter for a special operations unit that was with the Emperor's Hammer, a small part of the Imperial Remnant. The pay seemed good, and Dante had felt the longing for the camaraderie of a small unit. With that, he was on his way towards a new life in the Hammer's Fist Legion on Carrida II.

Imperial Remnant

After completing his basic combat training on Carrida II, Dante was first assigned to patrol duty on Carrida II for Operation Crimewatch. His duties were fairly mundane for awhile, but once the Legion go their marching orders he was on the first shuttle to Flint, a jungle planet on the edges of Emperor's Hammer space. The EH's regular units had been bogged down by heavy rains for almost a month before the Legion arrived with Dante and the rest of his fellow newbies in tow, and the troopers would stay for another month afterwards. On his first mission, the young trooper was paired with Lance Corporal Tacky on a recon sweep that soon went sour. Luckily, the intrepid pair were rescued by their comrades in Vengeance 2, and the New Republic forces were finally defeated on the nasty planet of Trent. This was the first of many in a series of battles that Dante would fight in for the Legion, and he steadily worked his way up the chain of command.

Clan Satal Keto and the 5th Great Jedi War: Before the Great Schism

Dante began his Dark Brotherhood career in House Aleema of Clan Satal Keto under the tutelage of Dark Jedi Knight Delak Krennel who was first his platoon commander and then company commander in the Hammer's Fist. Although he focused primarily on his duties as a stormtrooper, Dante was able to rise to the rank of Protector before the events of the Great Schism occurred. His exploits in the 4th Great Jedi War earned the young Dark Jedi a Dark Cross for his tenaciousness in battle. This would be the last time that he would be with his beloved clanmates as many soon departed the Emperor's Hammer for parts unknown, and Dante did not rejoin what was left of his clan as he put himself more into his ground pounder duties as a Company Commander in the Hammer's Fist.

Life Goes On

After the Exodus, Dante stayed in the Rogues as he was preoccupied with his ascension to glory in the Hammer's Fist. Battle after battle was fought between the Fist and the New Republic. Luckily, he managed to avoid any serious injury during these fights. He served in a number of positions from Company Commander to Commander of Training to the position of Commander of Operations for the Fist. Clan Satal Keto began to decline during this time, and he was invited by Hawk of Storms (TK-7764) to join Clan Arcona's House Qel-Droma. He took his friend up on this offer, and he began working on his path to becoming a Dark Jedi at a very slow pace. With the pace of combat operations being stepped up because of new action against what was termed the "Rogue Dark Brotherhood," Dante was unable to do much training in the Force. That was soon to change.

Dante's EHDB Grant of Arms

Rise to Power

With the retirement of Ares, a void was felt in the power structure of the Hammer's Fist. Mordred was named the new Prefect, and Dante became the new Executive Officer of the Regiment. After a short time, Mordred retired, and Angelo was named the Prefect of the Legion. This was a great period of expansion and revival for the Fist. New weapons systems, uniforms, and training courses were introduced. It was also during this time that the Nightstalkers were created. This small unit operated under the command of Decarat (or Archangel) for a number of months before command was passed on. This unit still lives on as the Shadowstalkers, Dante's personal force of bodyguards. After a short tour as Prefect, Dante was transferred to the Advisory staff so that he could grow in the powers of the Dark Jedi. In Arcona, he also grew in power as he became a Dark Jedi Knight and served as Aedile of Galeres and Quaestor of House Oriens Obscurum before he was finally named Consul of the Shadow Clan. While Consul, he was also reassigned as the Prefect of the Fist for a second tour. This was a Golden age for Arcona as they destroyed both Clan Scholae Palatinae as well as Clan Alvaak, but the Hammer's Fist was being weakened through a series of engagements with enemy forces as well as a number of officer and senior enlisted expulsions by the Fleet Commander. These "mandatory retirements" by the Fleet Commander led to increased tension between the EH command staff and Dante. Soon, this "tension" would lead to Dante's leaving of the Emperor's Hammer for forever.

Dante's Hammer's Fist Uniform

End of an Era

First came his second retirement as Prefect of the Hammer's Fist. Then came his retirement as Consul of Clan Arcona. As his obligations to the Emperor's Hammer decreased, his plans for what would come next in his life began coming together. Dante had amassed quite a fortune during his time in the Emperor's Hammer through shrewd investment in some property on Hoth of all things that he had bought in 100 acre portions in his early days as a trooper. With those earnings and those from some other investments, he and his wife were able to begin putting together what would become the foundation for their mercenary group. The plan was to head into the Unknown regions, find a planet that suited them, and then set up shop to be hired out. Just before the Dante's could enact their plan, their ally and the current Grand Master, Blade, was attacked by the Deputy Grand Master La'an. This led to Dante becoming reunited with many of his troopers in the Fist as he commanded the Hammer's Fist flotilla that was launched against the traitor, La'an. After the conclusion of this action, Dante returned to Carrida II, home of his beloved Legion, to find it completely destroyed. The investigation that followed led to another campaign against the attackers who turned out to be behind the plot to assassinate Blade as well. Finally rid of his obligations in the Emperor's Hammer, the Dante's left EH space with a number of ships and about a battalion of troopers for the unknown. As they were nearing the edge of EH territory he received a message from the Fleet Commander: You are hereby expelled from the Emperor's Hammer for bad mouthing me in public... With that, the flotilla jumped into hyperspace and into the Unknown Regions...

Journey into the Unknown

The Nightstalkers served as a mercenary group for many years throughout the Unknown Regions and the worlds of the Outer Rim. Most of their clients were planetary governments who didn't or couldn't have a standing army of their own with which to defend themselves. Through shrewd business sense and a good bit of luck, the Dante's and the Shadowstalkers managed to make a nice profit. They settled on a secluded world and set up shop there as they no longer had to look for customers.... they came looking for the group.

Return to the Brotherhood

After a mission near the Core Worlds, Dante received a message from his old friend Brent "Archangel" Tainer who was living on Judecca with Clan Scholae Palatinae of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Arch had put out an open invitation years before when he had decided to leave the Emperor's Hammer, but Dante and his troopers had decided to become mercenaries in the Unknown Regions instead. After a number of years of fighting, the Shadowstalkers had decided that it was time for some R&R so the unit moved onwards to Judecca and placed themselves under the command of Clan Scholae Palatinae. As Archangel had recruited him, he joined House Caliburnus, and his family went to their new home on Judecca. Just a few short days later, their new lives would be turned upside down as the klaxons around the Cocytus System began going off. The blaring sirens warned of the coming of the dreaded Vong, and the Dante's, the Shadowstalkers, and the rest of the Dark Brotherhood would soon have their hands full.

8th Great Jedi War

As Dante had just joined the clan, he wasn't in space with the rest of his new clansmen when the Vong began their invasion. Soon after the attack began, Dante and the infantry company he was commanding were sent to meet up with the remnants of the fleet. They managed to land on the CSP flagship, but the unit was almost immediately sent back to Judecca to help head off the invasion there. Dante's unit fought for the rest of the conflict on Judecca against the Incursion. Although they weren't able to defeat the invaders, they were able to contain them to certain areas of the planet. For his heroics in battle, Dante was elevated to Dark Jedi Knight at the conclusion of the conflict.

Reclamation of Judecca

Now that the Vong were contained, the next step for the members of Clan Scholae Palatinae was to drive out the invaders from the Cocytus System. Having just taken over command of the Nightmare Brigade, Dante led them to victory in a number of skirmishes throughout the system. After the end of the Reclamation, Dante resigned from his position and spent some time at home with his family in order to recuperate from the constant warfare that had been going on since his return to the Brotherhood. This break was short lived as he soon took on a position within the Chamber of Justice as the Left Hand of Justice. He was soon transferred from House Caliburnus to House Dorimad Sol, the traditional Obelisk House of the clan.

Feud with Caliburnus

Dark Paladin of Scholae Palatinae
After becoming more at home in his new position of Left Hand of Justice, Dante became more involved in his new House. During this time, he was assigned his friend, Camord, as his new apprentice. This reunion was short lived as a blood feud was declared between his current and former houses. Over a 3 week period, House Dorimad Sol dominated House Caliburnus, and they brought the larger house to its knees. Dante was given a number of honors for his bravery and expertise in battle including the title of "Gladiator of Scholae Palatinae, Dark Paladin of Scholae Palatinae, and a promotion to the rank of Obelisk Templar.

Independence Games of 29 ABY

The Independence Games are held in memory of the Exodus or the Great Split as it is known in the Emperor's Hammer. These games of skill pit the members of the various clans against one another for a month of combat and other challenges. Clan Scholae Palatinae dominated the competition with Dante winning the combat portion and being named the overall champion while Ylith of House Caliburnus, doing well in all of the events, came in a close second. It was a proud time for the members of Scholae Palatinae as they hoped to build on their placing in the games and rise above their place of 2nd Clan of the Brotherhood.

Uneasy Alliances & Clan Elevations

Dante was serving as the Left Hand of Justice in the Justicar's Office as well as Rollmaster of House Dorimad Sol, when he received the request to become Thran's Aedile when Prajna was forced to resign due to personal issues. As he was coming to the end of his term as LHOJ, Dante accepted the new position. Just as he was getting used to his new position, a call for help came from Clan Plagueis and Braecen as they were being overrun by the Vong. An expedition was mounted, and the Legions of Scholae Palatinae performed quite well in their first major combat engagement as they easily defeated the Vong as well as the Arconans who attempted to ambush both Plagueis and Scholae Palatinae. After the great victory, Phoenix eventually stepped down as Consul of the clan with Lucien taking over that position. This left Thran to move up into the Proconsul position, and Dante was elevated to the position of Quaestor of House Dorimad Sol.

Ninth Great Jedi War

The retaking of Antei had more twists and surprises than an amusement park ride. First, the Vong space forces around Antei were all dead or dying from a mysterious illness. Once they made it to Antei, there ended up being a droid army led by a cult of renegade Jedi. The clans were then informed that only the Dark Jedi and troops loyal to the Iron Throne would land on the planet as all clan forces had to stay in orbit. Dante ended up with a special forces unit that carried out strikes behind enemy lines for most of the war. The clans were ranked in order of the contributions that they made to the war effort, and Scholae Palatinae were in a three way battle with Arcona and Taldryan for the title of First Clan of the Brotherhood. The clan was narrowly defeated by their two rivals, but the retaking of Antei was a glorious expedition for the members of the Scholae Palatinae. Dante was named Third Hero of the war, and there were many other great honors spread around to other clan members. The hope was that the momentum from this warfare would lead to even greater honors in the upcoming Rite of Supremacy.

Spoils of War

Having left the Proconsul following the intense fighting within the Coctyus system during the uprising by the Cause, Dante concentrated his efforts on building up the armed forces and preparing them for the combat that would soon erupt on Salas V. The Dark Jedi of the clan had become apathetic since their near victory during the Great Jedi War as well as from the losses suffered during the insurgency of the Cause. This was soon apparent as the clan finished the Rite of Supremacy at the bottom of the listing of clans barely defeating Plagueis in head to head combat. Even with the veterans such as RevengeX, Dante, and Solus Gar working with the newcomers of the clan such as Kael Fayne, the clan suffered defeat against both Taldyran and Tarentum as many of the clan's Dark Jedi were killed or went missing during the battle for Salas V.

Clan Transformation

Following the clan's defeat, many of the surviving members of Scholae Palatinae left as the Emperor became more and more vacant in his duties. Dante was asked to come back as the Aedile in House Dorimad Sol to try and return the House to its greatness. Due to a dispute between Robin Hawk and the Grand Master, the Dark Paladin was once again named as the Quaestor of Dorimad Sol. He would serve in this capacity until Scholae Palatinae, along with the other clans, were forced to become independent Houses due to the losses that were sustained by the entire Brotherhood following Salas V.

Death and Legacy

When sent on a mission to find out information on Michael Halcyon, Dante was killed in action through the incompetent actions of the Fist, Fremoc Pepoi. Honored as a hero, Dante was given a state funeral in the Cocytus System. Upon his death, Dante's son, Kell Dante took over his positions including his place amongst the Palpatines.

Character Info

Dante is normally seen around the Brotherhood wearing black fatigues, a flight suit, or various types of full body armor. His blondish-brown hair is starting to show the signs of a silvery gray on his temples, and it is still cut in a military style crew cut as it has been for the past 30+ years.

Demeanor and Philosophy

Although he has long trained in the ways of the Dark Side, Dante still considers himself a soldier first, and a Dark Jedi second. He firmly believes in the code of Obelisk as this merges well with the sense of honor that he prides himself on as a professional soldier. Many outsiders find Dante's philosophy to be an odd choice, but almost everyone who has served under his command still would do almost anything for him. His faith in the Imperial system is also very strong, and the former stormtrooper will always feel that the Empire will rise again and take its rightful place in the galaxy.
