The Fade Initiative is a program of Clan Arcona designed to reward mentors amongst the Shadesworn and to promote those soldiers of the Arconan Armed Forces that demonstrate key combat skills to greater prominence within the ranks of Arcona.
Overview
The Fade Initiative was opened in 32 ABY by then-Consul Marick Arconae as a program of merit. Those Shadesworn who demonstrate excellent leadership skills, such as those who are capable of training their fellow Arconans to the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, are recommended for the Fade Initiative. In turn, those soldiers with excellent skills and notable combat records are also made available - these people will then find each other and a Fade will swear fealty to a Shadesworn.
Fades are drawn from two separate pools to be eligible, taken equally from the ranks of Arcona's Mandalorian clan Erinos and the ranks of the Wilderness Rangers. Most warriors from these two groups show the requisite skills to draw the eye of the Shadow Clan and drive themselves to prominence. A newly-minted Fade is branded with the mark of the Fades, a tattoo to be placed anywhere on their body. Their allegiance is then given to their assigned Shadesworn and not to Arcona as a whole, leaving the Fade free to follow the wishes of their Master.
