Camp Dall'ra is a heavily fortified military base located deep in the forests, north-east of Menat Ombo on New Tython. It is the primary headquarters of the Kotahitanga-Unity Defense Force and the only modern military academy on New Tython. The 1st Armored Assault Column call the base their home.
The current executive officer of the facility is general Deo Sol
History
Camp Dall'ra was an idea born from necessity. After the K.U.D.F. reformation in early 36 ABY, the Council of Jedi and the government of New Tython decided to pool their resources and truly modernize their military. This would mean fresh recruits drawn from every colony and trained in modern combat techniques. While the K.U.D.F. had had the manpower required to train these recruits, they hardly had a place to do it in efficiently. Ad hoc training camps were created and utilizes as much as possible but when it came time to teach real tactics and command, an academy was necessary.
Construction on a military academy and base started immediately following the reformation in 36 ABY, however it was cut short by the Thuronian coup d'etat and the base was left unfinished until 38 ABY, when the first class of recruit officers was finally introduced. Today the base functions as the main headquarters of the K.U.D.F. on New Tython and the home of over three thousand K.U.D.F. personnel.
Facilities and function
Headquarters
Camp Dall'ra houses the headquarters building of the top brass of the K.U.D.F. Most of the operations on and off world are planned, reviewed and approved here. From here general Deo Sol and his staff conduct their day-to-day operations and handle the logistics behind the K.U.D.F. The HQ is equipped with the latest technology in terms of computing and communications, as well as a fairly large databank of recorded information both from the field and the Sentinel Network.
Dall'ra Military Academy
Dall'ra Military Academy is named after Colonel Caer Dall'ra, hero of New Tython and martyr of the Brotherhood Civil War. As he was one of the finest officers the K.U.D.F. ever had, so too do the recruits that finish the Academy become fine officers. Basic officer's course takes six months and is finished fairly quickly. Recruits learn advanced military tactics, leadership, indoctrination, oratory, even advanced courses in explosives and vehicle warfare.
The most advanced of the class proceed into T.D.U.C. special operations training in Fort Pernicar where they train for an additional year in special operations command, covert tactics, anti-Foxtrot Uniform warfare and as jump infantry.
Hangars, armories and barracks
A multitude of buildings line the common areas of the base, specifically starship hangars, a long runway, landing pads, armories and of course barracks for the troops. The hangars and armories are heavily fortified and armored against bombardment. Most of these facilities are, in reality, subterranean with all the hangars connected through underground spaces designed to quickly and efficiently deliver fresh troops and vehicles. Most of the tanks and starships are held in these hangars and can be delivered to the surface via lifts.
The armories are stocked and maintained no matter the situation. Armories are attached to the barracks for easy access to gear and weapons in times of crisis. These armories are stocked with everything from personal armor to rocket propelled grenades and even heavier weapons. Armories include tech stations for weapon maintenance and every armory includes their own tech and engineer team.
The Barracks are fit to hold several regiments of troops and function as veritable homes away from home for the soldiers. They include gyms, kitchens, dining areas and leisure areas.
Training Grounds
The training grounds are several dozen large polygons with different terrain and climate types. Many are covered with formex domes to maintain the climate inside. These training grounds are used by the K.U.D.F. military for survival and specialized training for certain regiments. Most of the rest of the training grounds are plain open terrain or forested areas. Nearly all of this terrain is covered with fox holes, craters and tank blockades. While the K.U.D.F. never utilizes "live rounds" in training, they do utilize low yield mines and low powered sentry guns to simulate real time conditions.
