This page contains a history of the Jedi Codes as it relates to members of Odan-Urr. Its purpose is to dispel the common misconception that all Jedi follow the same Code. This document will also cover those who identify as Force Disciples.

History

Traditionally, the Jedi Order were thought to have followed one particular code of ethics or honor, which applied to all members on paper, but in practice there have always been slightly different versions of it which were equally accepted by the Order. For example, younger Jedi often learned a simplified version of the Code. In addition, some Jedi such as Qui-Gon Jinn only loosely followed the Post-Ruusan Reformation Jedi Code while others like Yoda strictly adhered to it.

This diversity only increased after the fall of the Republic. Some Jedi, such as Ki-Adi-Mundi, found a way to focus on more spiritual elements and balance the code with family life. An’ya Kuro emphasized detachment and humility above all else. Later on, Luke Skywalker created his own version for his new Jedi Order that emphasized selfless service and allowed for families, using the original Jedi Code as a reference.

Similarly Odan-Urr has followed its own path, both in terms of Codes and the place of Jedi within it. The following are but a few codes currently circulating around Odan-Urr.

Codes of Odan-Urr

Traditional Jedi Code

This more traditional variant of the Jedi Code is entirely based upon the meditations of Jedi Master [starwars:Odan-Urr|Odan-Urr], the patron for whom the Clan is named for. This was as the Jedi Code appeared for countless millennia prior to the Ruusan Reformation.

There is no emotion, there is peace
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge
There is no passion, there is serenity
There is no chaos, there is harmony
There is no death, there is the Force

A simplified form of this code taught to Younglings was:

Emotion, yet peace.
Ignorance, yet knowledge.
Passion, yet serenity.
Chaos, yet harmony.
Death, yet the Force.

New Jedi Order Code

This code, created by Luke Skywalker, emphasised selflessness and humility above all else. It was also heavily influenced by his fear of following in the footsteps of his infamous father Darth Vader. This code emphasized learning through experience. Additionally, it was closer to those practiced by the Jedi before the Great Sith War. As such, it allows Jedi to marry and have families, and each Jedi Master could train multiple apprentices. Much like the simplified code taught to Jedi children long ago, emotions were controlled not removed.

Notable Followers: Aurora Ta’var, Turel Sorenn

Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect.
Jedi respect all life, in any form.
Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.

Jensaarai Code

Formed from a bastardised mix of Sith and Jedi teachings, the Jensaarai code is used by the so-called “Followers of the Hidden Truth”. Tempering the more superficial elements of the Sith Code against Jedi self-discipline, its code emphasises the need for aggression in order to fuel the defense of peace and justice. This encourages a far more militant path than typical Jedi Codes, and emphasises a duty as custodians of their chosen territories.

Notable Followers: Ka Tarvitz, Sirra

I am the Protector of Justice.
I know no Emotions,
I know the Truth of the Force.
I am the Protector of Worlds.
I know the power of the True Force.
I am the Defender of the True Way.
The Universe knows not of my existence.
I pledge myself to the Jensaarai.
For I have found True Life,
In the protection of others.

A Force Disciple Code

Although each Force Disciple ultimate chooses their own path, some choose to follow the original Je’daii Code. This is from before the practice of the Dark Side was banned within the Jedi Order, as it came to be known.

Notable Followers: Tisto Kingang, Edgar Drachen, Celevon Edraven Erinos

There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no fear, there is power.
I am the heart of the Force.
I am the revealing fire of light.
I am the mystery of darkness.
In balance with chaos and harmony,
Immortal in the Force.

Clan Organization & Jedi

Odan-Urr, while having a Council, it is not a religious body nor are all of its members Force Users. The Council of Urr serves as the governing body of the survivors of New Tython. After being welcomed into the Kiast System, the Council is now a semi-autonomous regional government under the invitation of Vatali Empress. Jedi must interact with their counterparts, providing but one point of view for consideration.
