Oblivion Brigade was established, drawing partially upon the resources of Prophecy Phyle, to address the latter group's weaknesses in a changing galaxy. Archpriest Arcturus Xyler had reorganized Prophecy Phyle by folding its members into the staff of Naruba Investments, thereby giving them an ability to move about the galaxy at large while blending into the background. This was good, as it allowed them to perform their mission - covert intelligence gathering - well. Unfortunately, as the Yuuzhan Vong war wore on after the Ninth Great Jedi War, Prophecy Phyle was sent on more and more direct action assignments. Therefore, it was decided to realign some of the members into a covert action squad - it would allow House Qel-Droma to maintain some of the intelligence-gathering abilities of Prophecy, but also combine it with some assault unit elements.

Because of this, Oblivion Brigade would draw from all three Orders in the Brotherhood, as well as looking for individuals talented in more mundane (if eclectic) skills as well. The concept was that while Dark Jedi in the role of commandos would be effective, there would always be missions where the intervention of Dark Jedi would only call unwanted attention on the team - or on the House, the Clan, or even the Brotherhood as a whole.

When the team was created, the Tetrarch of the dissolving Prophecy Phyle, Kant Lavar, was selected as its leader. While he had been in command of Prophecy Phyle for nearly a year, many had not expected the House Summit to retain his services as a battle-team leader. For the missions that the new Oblivion Brigade would be assigned, however, he made a perfect choice; a former bounty hunter, Lavar would have many skills unrelated to his training as a Dark Jedi.

Oblivion Guard

In addition, a small commando squad, informally known as the "Oblivion Guard", with some members drawn from the former Prophecy Phyle commando team, as well as some on detached duty from the Dajorra Defence Force Special Operations Battalion, have been assembled for support. While not technically assigned to Oblivion Brigade, as it is a Dark Jedi unit, and instead assigned to the guard force of House Qel Droma, their existence is an open secret in the Clan.

Roster

  • Lieutenant Gulith Yarnn - Human Male - Member of the Special Forces for the government of Tarento accused of corruption, he escaped with a few members of his team and led them to form the core of Prophecy Phyle's commando team. When the Oblivion Guard was formed, he was only one of two Prophecy commandos recruited. In addition to being team leader, he also has some demolitions training.
  • Sergeant First Class Rokrin Fokkmen - Zabrak Male - The senior DDF member in the Oblivion Guard, Fokkmen is the squad sharpshooter and armorer. Proficient with almost every ranged weapon in existence, his favored weapon is a modified DC-15x sniper rifle.
  • Sergeant Zellie Forne - Human Female - A former bodyguard for a Hapan princess, Zellie is herself a beauty, trained in Echani fighting and an expert with knives. She is also practiced in infiltration with excellent stealth skills. An affair with one of her princess’ consorts resulted in a death sentence, and her escape from Hapes. She worked as an assassin until recruited into Prophecy Phyle’s irregular forces and from there, was transferred to the Oblivion Guard.
  • Corporal Paron Dryik Human Male - The squad heavy weapons expert, Dryik is actually a washed-out Obelisk Acolyte. When it was determined that his affinity for the Force was marginal, and would be despite all efforts to expand it, he was released from the Brotherhood himself, but quickly recruited into the DDF. His Force abilities manifest themselves as slight precognitions, which usually allow him to adjust his fire for maximum effect.
  • Corporal Bana Nellen - Twi'lek Female - Born to Twi'lek merchant parents, Nellen quickly learned how nearly everything on their beaten-down tramp freighter worked, usually as she helped her parents fix it. Recruited after an Arconan Expeditionary Force warship rescued her from a Vong coralskipper patrol, she left her wrecked ship in the hands of the AEF and volunteered her not inconsiderable skills at both vehicle repair and code-slicing to the DDF.

Equipment

Kraytskin Armor System as worn

Standard kit is issued to each member of the Oblivion Guard, as well as being made available to the members of Oblivion Brigade on an as-desired basis. However, being a special operations team, besides some basic requirements, each trooper will customize their gear depending on their mission and their role in it.
