The present day city of Kar Alabrek was designed by the former Governor Malisane de Ath at the request of Governor Trevarus Caerick following the destruction of the much of the previous Dlarit Security Force headquarters in 27 ABY. Much of the city was rebuilt by 28 ABY although construction continues in several areas.
The history of Kar Alabrek actually stretches back to the Dlarit Corporation's arrival in the Orian system a decade earlier when Tarthos was designated to be the home of the corporation's military interests. The former security headquarters were constructed on the site of what is now Kar Alabrek under the guidance of then Lieutenant Governor Trevarus Caerick. However, the old settlement was forced to expand faster than intended, leading to the gaps in security that were exploited during the Invasion of Orian. While parts of the city remain similar to before, the main infrastructure has been completely overhauled to close any security holes.
Description
This garrison city is the principle settlement on Tarthos and provides a home for the Dlarit Security Force and the members of House Marka Ragnos. Like the city of Seng Karash on Aeotheran, Kar Alabrek is a large walled settlement with outlying districts formed around a central hub. Unlike Seng Karash the principle feature of Kar Alabrek is military not commercial or industrial and though it does not have a floating defence like the Marakith Skyhook a large number of concealed surface to air silos, ion cannons and turbolasers have been deployed at strategic points around the city. In addition heavy fighter cover patrols the sky over the city and the space station Onyx provides orbital support.
As with Seng Karash Kar Alabrek has a large hydroponic facilty for food growth and water processing underneath the city, both allowing it to be self sufficient in basic resources and supply food for the fleet.
Also like Seng Karash, the buildings are fabricated, allowing for the city to have been rapidly constructed following the original settlement being razed during the invasion in 27 ABY. Additionally this, in theory, allows it to be relocated should the Orian system ever fall permanently or suffer a major natural disaster.

The Hub
In the centre of Kar Alabrek lies Ragnos Cathedral, correctly known as Alabrek Castle. Around the castle are extensive guardens, designed at the request of Governor Trevarus Caerick, including expensively landscaped trees and bushes, fountains and statues depicting famous heros from the Clan's past and present. The gardens are surrounded by a tall hedge to both block out the view of the city beyond and give it some privacy. Only members of Clan Naga Sadow and officers of the Dlarit Special Operations Group are allowed within the grounds.
Near Alabrek Castle lies the Department of Defence, housing the headquarters the Dlarit Army and Navy. Some of the corporation's most senior offices can be found in this building, as well as meeting rooms and facilities for strategic presentations. This building also has an underground bunker for emergenices which is heavily shielded against attacks. In event of attack this basement serves as an emergency command location.
The Dlarit Academy is found next to the Department of Defence. Here the officers and elite soldiers of the Dlarit Security Force are trained in the arts of command and warfare. Outside the main buildings are the parade ground and ornamental gardens where a large flowerbed has been grown in the shape of the Dlarit Corporation logo. Exercise and recreational facilities can also be found within the grounds.
The stockade is a large featureless black building next to the academy. Here soldiers facing court martial or locked up for disorderly conduct are brought to await trial. This is only a temporary facility and those convicted are transported for long term incarceration on Gamuslag at the Cenota Facility. The stockade is also the headquarters of the military police.
The Armory
In the south side of the city lies the armory, not one building but a walled off area containing a series of warehouses and factories. Here the machinery of the Dlarit Security Force is serviced, constructed and maintained, including everything from personal weapons and armour, walkers and large ground equipment, fighters and bombers and large ship weapons and components. The equipment is either stored or shipped out to the forces where required. A small separate spaceport can be found here primarily for shipping equipment out to the fleet.
The Residential District
In the west side of the city houses the various regimental barracks of the Dlarit Security Force providing accommodation, training and exercise for both forces stationed on Tarthos and those on leave in the city. In order to relieve congestion each barracks has its own shops and a few bars, though most soldiers head for the bright lights of the entertainment district for recreation. There are also a limited number of married quarters for those who have found spouses in or out of the security forces.
The Entertainment District
On the north side of the city is the Entertainment District. This is profoundly different to the Commerical and Leisure district of Seng Karash. The atmosphere is rowdier, there are far fewer shops and though there is a cinema the entertainment here is less family orientated, comprising of bars, strip clubs, brothels, casinos and an arena where racing and gladiatorial combat takes place with heavy gambling. Unlike Seng Karash where a small amount of recreational drug peddling has a blind eye turned to it, the military police take an extremily severe view of the sale of stims or narcotics amongst its forces and the penalty for this is imprisonment or execution. They also patrol the entertainment district harshly breaking up fights and dragging anyone inebriated off to the stockade until the morning when they are returned to their sergeants.
Like the Commercial and Leisure district of Seng Karash most of the facilities here are run and owned by the Dlarit Corporation, however it is rumoured that the rapidly expanding Dystopian Leisure is in negotiations to open a venue here.
The Starport
On the east side of the city lies the starport, as large and busy as it's Aeotheran neighbour. There are no private vessels and landing is highly regulated to military and supply ships only. Though equipment is shipped in and out of the system via the armory, troops and supplies are both transported to the starport or from the hydrophonics facility to the fleet.
