Master at Arms (MAA)—The Master at Arms is the chief administrative officer of the Dark Council. With responsibilities that govern member and position administration throughout the Brotherhood, an active Master at Arms has a wide affect on the progress of the club. The primary responsibility of the Master at Arms is to enforce the standards and procedures for requests and changes within the Brotherhood. Among these are requests for promotions, medals, transfers, appointments, and removals. The Master at Arms carries responsibilities in ensuring the correct administration of competitions including approving creation and placements and maintaining parity between reward and effort. The Master at Arms also provides oversight for infringements in family and name policies.

Duties
General Duties
- Administration of promotions and medals
- Approval and processing of transfer requests, appointments and removals
- Oversight of member and family names
- Administration of competitions
- Development and maintenance of standards covering all aspects of the office
Specific Duties
Promotions
- Develops and maintains standards for promotions within the rank structure of the Brotherhood
- Develops and maintains a listing of examples of worthy promotions
- Ensures promotional parity throughout the Clans and Dark Council
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures for promotion recommendations
- Approves promotion recommendations
- Gains consent from the Grand Master on promotions within the Elder class
- Oversees the development of Clan promotion guidelines
- Ensures parity between the Clan promotion guidelines while providing for flexibility in the context of Clan preferences
Medals
- Develops and maintains standards for awarding medals throughout the Brotherhood
- Develops and maintains a listing of examples of worthy awards
- Ensures medal parity throughout the Clans and the Dark Council
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures for medal recommendations
- Approves medal recommendations
- Gains consent from the Grand Master on awards within the First and Elite Strata
- Ensures that members are not rewarded twice for activities
- Develops new ways for members to gain medals through games such as Galaxies and Battlefront II
Appointments, Removals
- Develops and maintains polices and procedures on the appointment of members to positions
- Administers changes to member positions as requested by Leaders of the Brotherhood
- Gains consent from the Grand Master on Clan appointments for Quaestor and Proconsul
- Gains consent from the Grand Master on Praetor appointments
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures regarding AWOL members
- Runs a yearly massive AWOL check to eliminate inactive members from the Brotherhood
New Members
- Monitors the incoming member queue for improper names
- Ensures incoming members receive their activation emails
- Clears the incoming member queue of un-activated dossiers every few days
- Jointly responsible with the Headmaster for enforcing the Dark Brotherhood policy against clones
Transfers
- Approves member transfers between Clans and to and from the rogues
- Keeps new members from transferring between Clans immediately upon joining, unless directly recruited
- With consent of the Deputy Grand Master, develops and maintains the policy on transfers during Vendetta events
- Gains consent from the Clan summit on questionable transfers where the Summit may wish to intervene and talk to the member
- Develops and maintains the policy on recruiting between Clans
- Develops and maintains the policy on recruiting from the Rogues
Names, Families
- Develops and maintains the policy on valid names within the Brotherhood
- Approves name changes according to the policies dictating valid names
- Oversees the Clan Name system and records changes
- Develops and maintains the Brotherhood policy on families in conjunction with the Herald
- Oversees the Family system and records changes in conjunction with the Herald
Other Requests
- Develops and maintains a policy on order change requests
- Approves order change requests
Competitions
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures on competition approval
- Approves competitions according to policy
- Ensures that medals awarded for competitions match those that were submitted with the request or that changes to medals are made appropriately
- Ensures competitions are properly completed
- Oversees the training of members in how to effectively plan and run a competition
Fictional Role
The Master At Arms serves as the Grand Master’s top adjutant as the head of administrative bureaucracy. They are responsible for tracking the service records and day-to-day statistics of personnel within the Dark Jedi Brotherhood as well as handling any and all administrative bureaucracy. The MAA oversees the delivery and ceremony of awarding members with rank promotions and merit medals, but also issue letters to the families of deceased members and are responsible for handling death, burial, and the last will and testaments of those that serve the Brotherhood.
