Draagax is a small elite task unit that holds loyalty to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Founded in 34 ABY in response to theJedi uprising near Antei, this classified military unit reports directly to the Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master of the Brotherhood. Its main purpose is carrying out special operations on behalf of the Dark Council. As a result, Draagax specializes in multiples facets of spec ops, including but not limited to: demolitions, medical assistance, and sniper tactics. It is also a front-line force, made up of carefully hand-picked soldiers, selected mainly on the basis of their extensive experience and military decorations.
History
Founding
The Order War of 33 ABY threw the Brotherhood into disarray. The Obelisk, Sith and Krath fragmented and engaged in an all-out war for supremacy. Internal distrust between Dark Council members erupted into a violent and bloody display. The initial disruption may have been rooted in the disagreement between Korras, the Obelisk Master At Arms; Muz Ashen, the Krath Grand Master; and Ma`ar-Tyrius Ga-Tir, the Sith Fist of the Brotherhood; however, the true nature of the war was unseen to all but one.
Jac Cotelin, former Grand Master and esteemed member of the Star Chamber, was unsettled by a disturbing presence surrounding the Discipline Holocrons. After much meditation, he found the Force fingerprint of Michael Halcyon, a Starwars:Jedi Starwars:Jedi MasterMaster and notorious former Brotherhood member. Jac quickly returned to Antei to stop the ensuing battle, and eventually succeeded. The realization that the holocrons had been tainted by energy that would disturb Brotherhood allegiances and cause tension among the orders, left the Dark Jedi free to once more unite, to seek out and eliminate a common enemy.
The Jedi soon became an increasing threat in the Brotherhood, and the tension they caused was only heightened by the acceptance of House Odan-Urr, a light side Jedi unit, into the. As a precautionary measure, the Dark Council annexed a small elite unit that would serve to deter and protect, should hostilities continued to rise. If anything detrimental presented itself to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, this unit would be the first deployed and the last to leave. and with that, Draagax was born.
Draagax’s chosen commander was Captain Thomas Andar, an extremely experienced military man who had sworn allegiance to the Iron Throne towards the end of the Ninth Great Jedi War. He came from a succesful and decorated career within Clan Arcona’s military ranks, having been born and raised in Estle City on the Shadow Clan’s capital world of Selen. He soon excelled in his capacity as a military leader, undergoing rigourous training at the Torbai Garrison before serving with the Arcona Summit Guard, in Solus Command Unit. Soon after he had demonstrated his loyalty and prowess on Antei, Muz Ashen and Arcona’s Consul at the time, Sashar Arconae, agreed to have him enlisted in special forces due to Andar’s knowledge in demolitions and special weaponry.
Andar, after he had been approached by the Grand Master to lead Draagax, assisted in the process of hand-picking seasoned soldiers from all facets of the Brotherhood military and beyond. He and the Dark Council agreed to give the unit its name because of the creature itself, the Draagax. While the Draagax appears to be harmless, it is in fact a very violent and vicious creature, capable of seriously injuring its hunters. The unit lived up to its namesake due to its task force qualities and highly advanced weapon arsenal. Once it had received its foundation, Draagax set up its barracks within The Spike on Antei, awaiting the day when it would be deployed.
Michael Halcyon soon disappeared without a trace after the battle to reclaim the Temple Boyna on Antei. Numerous assassination attempts on the Jedi Master failed, with many members of the Dark Council sending their own envoys to take his life. The latest sighting of the Jedi was with his reappearance during the Jedi Uprising of 35 ABY and another failed attempt on his life[1]. This time it was an assassin sent by Orv Dessrx d’Tana Arconae, the Seneschal of the Brotherhood, who failed to terminate the Jedi Master. Muz Ashen decided, based on this news, to enlist the clans and houses of the Brotherhood to convene and invade New Tython, in order to kill the Jedi of Odan-Urr. For every Jedi killed, his or her lightsaber would be collected as a bounty.
As the Army of the Iron Throne began military preparations, Andar was notified by the Grand Master to begin organizing Draagax to depart for New Tythonian space. Assembling in a unassuming board room on the Brotherhood-class Dreadnought Nightfall the elite unit awaited command from Muz to descend to New Tython. Its target: The Jedi’s capital, Menat Ombo.
Notable Operations
(maybe we could each put our plots for Battle for the Dark Pt. 1 here, just to add a bit more depth.)
Purpose/Role
While the main purpose of Draagax is to serve as a frontlines task force unit, its specializations in various facets of the military gives it more of a spec ops role. It is true that Draagax suitably operates as a strike/infiltration force, with the objective to seize and destroy the target it has been sent to hit. However, Andar has emphasized the need for demolition experts, snipers, and medics in the unit.
Specializations
Demolitions
Demolition specialists are assigned to assist soldiers on the frontlines. Using state of the art technology to scan and analyze the battlefield, they then send valuable information regarding demolition defenses and offenses that the unit may need. Their advice may range from proper employment of detonators, suggestions for protective gear in case of mines, and tips on concealing and efficiently activating demolition traps.
Due to Thomas Andar’s expertise, Draagax specifically specializes in Concussion demolitions, thermal detonators, and Fragmentation demolitions. Experts have also been enlisted to help deactive timer mines and landmines. Although the call for Proton demolitions would be highly uncommon and usually implemented by a higher power, Andar has spent some years studying the art of fusion and proton weaponry.
Snipers
Snipers are typically sent out during the first frontline siege, making their way to key tower spots while the battle is still young. As a result, they are capable of spotting threats or weaknesses to Draagax’s formation and stifle any potential attack.
Corporal Yuvra’Garr, the primary sniper of the unit, promotes using recon droids while on the ground in order to signal potential spots for Orbital bombardment.
Medical
Medics are trained to control one to three evacs behind the frontlines, so that they may quickly and effectively retrieve the injured and dead when the time comes. Small supplies of bacta are provided for the evacs in case injuries can be quickly healed. Two of the three evacs are also equipped with makeshift operating tables in case immediate surgery is required for an injured soldier or sniper. While the proceeding operation can be quite unorthodox without sterilization, Draagax's medical forces have been trained to make due with the limited resources that they have.
Doctor Jacjed Quistic is known to work with a maximum of three assistant medical droids, while the rest of the medics on the field are sentient. Although critics claim that using fewer droids is a risky business, the Dark Council enlists the most capable living doctors and surgeons from Brotherhood dominions.
Notable Members
Captain Thomas Andar
- Role: Commander
- Species: Human
- Gender: Male
- "If you can't blow it up, it ain't worth the time."
- ―Thomas Andar
Captain Thomas Andar started life in Estle City, Selen. He was born to a surprisingly wealthy family, his mother and father both in middle management within Naruba Investments. He decided not to follow in their path and took a life of construction at first, developing and overseeing construction all around Estle, but, after seven years with the company he left, opting for a life in the military. He joined Torbai Garrison in 28 ABY at the age of 28, after graduating from the Arconan Military Training Scheme. He was a specialist in demolitions and a core member of the Solus Summit Guard of Arcona, until he transferred out to Draagax squad in 34 ABY.
Joining Draagax Squad as an extremely talented demolitions expert, Thomas Andar was soon noticed by the Dark Lord, Muz Ashen, as one who possessed a natural charisma and air of authority and was temporarily pulled from the Squad and put through the Antei Officer Training School where he graduated in 8 weeks with flying colors. When the current commander of Draagax had an unfortunate “accident” while briefing the Dark Lord, Thomas Andar was the natural choice for a replacement. Given the rank of Captain, Andar returned to Draagax Squad. Under his leadership, they have yet to fail a mission.
Corporal Coryn Vance
- Role: Fireteam Leader
- Species: Human
- Gender: Male
- "Touch me again, and I will break your face."
- ―Corporal Vance
Coryn Vance fought for many years as part of the Rebel Alliance's armed forces, remaining with them as they became the New Republic. He became discouraged when, in his words, it surrendered to the Empire and formed the Galactic Alliance. Becoming bitter, he joined the Army of the Iron Throne, and was later hand picked by Andar to serve as a Fireteam Leader.
His deference to the Army of the Iron Throne after his tenure within the Rebel Alliance put him on rough ground at first, and it took a while for him to become noticed as a truly loyal soldier. Nevertheless, when he was discovered by Andar in an outlying and relatively docile unit, Andar knew he had to get him in the squad. Coryn was soon invited to join the Draagax and there he has remained, serving as the Team Leader of Fireteam Crastch.
Apart from being awfully seductive and good-looking, Vance is a skilled practitioner of an eclectic range of martial arts. It is for this reason, and his preternatural ability to avoid capture, that he is often used for reconnaissance and scouting.
First Lieutenant Yuvra’Garr
- Role: Executive Officer
- Species Twi’lek
- Gender: Female
A former bounty hunter, Yuvra was approached personally by Andar after being observed eliminating half a dozen targets from a rooftop quite a distance away. She is an expert shot, and has proven the ability to take out targets even with a regular blaster.
Originally assigned as a precision markswoman, Yuvra fit in well with the Draagax lifestyle and quickly forged something akin to friendships with the rest of her squadmates, proving that she could be a great soldier despite her gender. Captain Andar noticed this and shortly after the end of the Order Wars, he gave her a field promotion to First Lieutenant (1LT) and installed her as Draagax Squad’s Executive Officer.
In her new capacity, Lieutenant Yuvra’Garr is also the Team Leader of Fireteam Bha’lir.
Second Lieutenant Jacjed Quistic
- Role: Medic
- Species: Human
- Gender: Female
- "You're not hurt, get back out there and stop wasting my time!"
- ―Corpsman Jacjed Quistic
Jacjed Quistic was always an aspiring Doctor. Her humble beginnings on Karufr, put her in good stead for a career in medicine. She was an avid learner, travelling to Dac to study under the tutelage of Dr. Akanseh in order to develop her skills as a healer, however, a love interest soon got in the way. Her lover, a Sergeant in the Army of the Iron Throne, was killed during the Third Dark Brotherhood Civil War and she returned to the to enlist. She became cold and aggressive, but her medical skills were unmatched. She soon developed in the ranks, before she was selected to lead the Iron Throne's medical research department.
Quistic has a keen sense of duty, and her no nonsense attitude to battlefield medicine made her a perfect candidate for the position in Draagax squad.

Armor
The operators in Draagax Squad are the best that the Army has to offer and as such they utilize only the best armor that credits can buy. While certain situations may call for specific attire, Draagax can most often be found wearing the Kraytskin Armor Harness v2; originally, the Squad was issued the standard Kratyskin Armor Harness, just like the rest of the Army of the Iron Throne, but after the fierce fighting in the 'Order Wars', Captain Andar was approached by Darth Ashen, who was impressed with Draagax's performance, and offered the chance to have his men upgrade to the Kraytskin Armor Harness v2.
Asthetically, Version 2 differs very little from the standard armor, with the exception that the protective plating has a smoother appearance and the suit seems more "fluid", with less sharp edges. What makes V2 superior to V1 is what the eye can't see; all of the armor's plates have undergone a restrengthening to better withstand everything from blaster bolts and shrapnel to blades and slugs. Furthermore, the entire ensemble has been coated with ablative paint and the helmet has been fitted with an oxygen-recycler, allowing operators to conduct orbital entry jumps without needing to wear a bulky exo-suit; the ablative coating can withstand five (5) such jumps before needing to be resprayed.
Perhaps the biggest upgrade that sets the V2 apart from V1 is the addition of what Kyataran armorsmiths called the "Personal Bubble", which is a set of circuity that runs underneath the armor's plating and, with the activation of a command from the helmet's HUD, sends strings of electricity running over the surface of the suit. This upgrade is most useful if a Draagax operator finds himself downed with an enemy on top of him or if an operator is in pitched hand-to-hand combat with an opponent wearing at least a tiny bit of metal, as the electrical currents will "jump" to nearby conductors.
Finally, the Kraytskin Armor Harness V2 was designed to be both superior to the V1 and more adaptable than most other armor systems in the galaxy. To do this, the armorsmiths of Kyataru added a number of grooves and slits to the various armor plates, which appear useless until one needs to attach any number of "supplemental pieces of equipment, such as jetpacks, wrist-mounted blades, additional armor plates (for when operators require heavy frontline combat), and many more.
