Sith Battle Lord Ma`ar-Tyrius Ga-Tir is a member of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, and currently serves as a member of the Rouges.

The proud warrior of Kalee is especially loyal to his close friends and will serve whatever cause they may have when called upon. He wanders the vast universe in search of the meaning to the dark side.

His history is shrouded with mystery, starting out as a bounty hunter. The incredibly agile, short tempered, and egotistical Kaleesh thrives during combat and war, unlike most Dark Jedi of the Sith order. Ma’ar prefers times of chaos and destruction.

Character History

In the beginning

Born on Kalee in 2 BBY to an abusive farmer named Qa`ar Maen Ga-Tir, the tall and slender Ma`ar was often bullied by his father and the other ranch hands. Ma`ar’s earliest memory was of his father hitting him—Qa`ar would often blame his son for the death of his wife Jenuawa Li Ga-Tir, who had died during her last childbirth. Having one brother and a sister that were both older than Ma`ar didn’t help as he was considered the “Black Sheep”.

In 5 ABY, at the age of eight, Ma`ar wandered into the jungles on Kalee. In the face of such wilderness Ma`ar was lost, coming across a deep cavern the young Kaleesh fell. Suddenly the world he knew was in darkness. Search parties looked for days but no sign of the young Ga-Tir. Days went by and the young Kaleesh lay in the deep cavern, badly injured and forced to fend for himself. Crawling on what little strength he had left in his body, Ma`ar made his way to some rocky outcroppings. Days went by, and Ma`ar soon realized he would die there. On the eve of that night, a sound erupted from above. A ship had entered close proximity to the youth, causing him to scream with everything he had left. Two strangers approached the Kaleesh and helped him back to the ship. Ma`ar suddenly felt a eerie feeling. Brought to a neighboring planet called Huk, Ma`ar was enslaved in a mining camp. His body still healing, he was subjected to harsher beating than his father had past along years ago.

Even at this age, he felt the calls of the Force and its dark side, and after one last and particularly brutal beating at the hands of his captor Ma`ar used its power to kill him unknowingly. He envisioned a giant hand squeezing his dark heart, literally willing him to die. He would not understand the part he had played in his demise until many years later when he discovered that it had been his use of the Force which had allowed him to kill his enslaver. A Republic cargo ship had arrived a day later to pick up supplies. Ma`ar hid in the shadows as the vessel was loaded, at the last possible second he ran towards the loading ramp and boarded the ship. Unaware of the Kaleesh aboard or the death within the camp the craft lifted off. After days aboard the ship, Ma`ar did his best to hide in the cargo and healed his wounds and regained his strength. The cargo ship entered orbit of a planet unknown to Ma`ar and then the cargo craft landed. And as the crew began to debark so did the Kaleesh when the coast was clear. He wandered around the spaceport, hoping to find a clue as to where he was. Stealing some scraps of food from a vendor, Ma`ar was hopeless in his cause left for dead, beaten and hungry he came across a small empty shelter looking for a small amount of sleep that he hadn't found in days the Kaleesh nodded off.

Months went by, and Ma`ar worked for some odd and end jobs sleeping in abandoned buildings or empty alleys. He made a few friends on the backwater planet called Guiteica. Ma`ar frequented a local cantina. After one evenings events, the Kaleesh found himself faced with a angry Republic ensign over a botched hand of cards. Ma`ar was forced to leave the cantina and searched for shelter. The Ensign soon tracked down the Kaleesh with a few of his friends among his crew to attack Ma`ar as he left the cantina. Easily dominated by the crew in physical combat, the ensign attacked Ma`ar with a vibroblade. However, Ma`ar's subconscious use of the Force allowed him to detect the weapon, turning it against the ensign and killing him. Outmatched, the other Republic sailors fled to alert their superiors. Ma`ar was forced to turn to one of his few friends, the Neimoidian barkeeper Gramlik. Gramlik used his contacts to save Ma`ar from being caught and imprisoned by Republic forces by arranging to have him smuggled off planet.

Personality and traits

As a young boy, Ma`ar was arrogant and intelligent. He was friendly and easily got along with others despite his status as a farmer’s son. He also was one to carry grudges and was vengeful, but he commonly held these two traits in check. He also hated being treated unjustly or being wrongly accused. He was fiercely loyal, doing anything to keep those he was close to from harm, at any cost. His only price for this dedication was loyalty in return.

His separation from his family was the hardest thing he'd ever been through, and it still hurt him for years. Because of his fear of losing even more friends in such a manner he kept to himself. Being a loner kept the Kaleesh from hurt and sorrow. Due to his sudden escalation from slave to bounty hunter and then rising star of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, pride and arrogance set in. He grew cocky and self-appreciating, and he came to hate being reprimanded or lectured.

He was naturally honest, blunt and despised lying and deception, and especially hated politics, correctly considering most elders to be greedy and self-conceited. Ma`ar's superior’s continual self-consciousness when it came to the Kaleesh hurt the teen, which at times wasn't sure whether they liked him. This was something his heart craved. Therefore, he turned to a more complimentary, comforting source: His newly found friends.

His yearning to be worshiped as well as appreciated came out in his devotion to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, one of the only true places he thought appreciated or cared for him. As his fame grew, he became more and more arrogant and he knew that he was one of the best Sith of the Order, believing that he could easily best any Dark Jedi blindfolded with his lightsaber tied behind his back. This coupled with his frustration at his perceived injustice at being kept back in ranking and positions made him more and more bitter and distrustful of the fellow Tarentum clan mates and his superiors. His belief in them was shattered more and more as Ma`ar's close friend and Apprentice Archean left clan Tarentum. Slowly, his bond with everyone except Merlance was completely shaken and broken. Born out of this conflict was a alter persona Osar-Tyrius Ga-Tir.

Despite his rather rocky relationship with higher ranking officers in the Tarentum, Ma`ar got along quite well with the lower ranking members. One reason Ma`ar was popular with the members was his willingness to fight in the front line, and not expect of anyone anything he was not willing to do himself. Another member to be taken under Ma`ar's wing was Odin Vaaj, who succeeded Archean as his apprentice and notably survived being under the Ma`ar's command.

Suffering a blow to the head in a training accident, Ma`ar was rendered comatose. Awakening some time later, Osar was awoken and not Ma`ar. Somehow the two personas co-existed after Ma`ar (being the stronger willed) came to the surface. No one knows how, why, or when Osar will come forth. As Ma`ar prefers to never seek medical attention unless dire need, he deals with the outbreaks of chaos when they arrive out of nowhere.
