In 40 ABY, Kodais Solatus and his companion, Tessa, traveled to the remote world of Auratera, drawn by rumors of long-lost Sith artifacts hidden beneath its ancient surface. The planet, once a center of Sith power, had long been abandoned, and its ruins were said to contain relics of unimaginable power. Their search led them to a secluded cave, where they discovered an unusual sight: a young man frozen in carbonite, preserved for centuries.

Their search led them to a secluded cave, where they discovered an unusual sight: a young man frozen in carbonite, preserved for centuries.

After carefully defrosting the man and nursing him back to health, Kodais learned that the individual had been frozen for approximately 1000 years. Though the man’s memory was severely impaired due to the carbon freezing, he could only recall fragments of his past. He claimed to have no name, instead referring to himself simply as "NeMo," a seemingly nefarious moniker that would become the symbol of his mysterious existence. Despite NeMo’s amnesia, Kodais saw potential—he believed this stranger, this enigma, could serve as a key to his own ambitions. Kodais took it upon himself to help NeMo recover his lost memories. He spent months guiding the young man through his fragmented recollections, using his deep knowledge of the Force to unlock the remnants of NeMo's past. Slowly, progress was made. NeMo began to recall bits of information about his life before the freezing, and eventually, he revealed a crucial detail: the location of an ancient amulet hidden deep within the tomb where he had been found. This artifact, NeMo suggested, held significant power—perhaps even knowledge that could further Kodais’ own ambitions.

Personality and Traits
Personality and Traits
Kodais viewed himself as a proud Onderonian patriot, deeply invested in his heritage. Like most Onderonians, he was xenophobic. His pride in his ancestry, coupled with his upbringing, led him to believe in the superiority of the Onderonian people over most other sentients. He also despised the Republic, the Jedi, and the Mandalorians. He blamed the Jedi and the Republic for Onderon's current troubles, and the atrocities committed by the Mandalorians against the Onderonians were difficult for him to forget. However, he was more tolerant of the Empire, as Onderon had been, for all intents and purposes, self-governing under their rule.
Kodais Solatus was a man shaped by a complex mixture of pride, elitism, deep-seated resentments, and intellectual curiosity, making him a unique and often difficult individual in any group. At his core, he viewed himself as an Onderonian patriot, deeply invested in his heritage and beliefs about the superiority of his people. His strong sense of pride in his ancestry fueled his xenophobia and humanocentrism, causing him to view non-humans, and especially clones, with disdain. He believed that humanity was the top rung of existence, and his rigid worldview was rooted in both his upbringing and the personal trauma he endured growing up on Onderon.

Kodais was a social elitist, believing that there was a natural order to the universe and that everyone should understand their place within it. He had a very particular sense of honor. He respected his superiors according to their rank and offered his peers a professional courtesy, but only those who earned his respect. He gave no regard to underlings until they proved themselves, a feat that was often difficult to achieve. As a result, Kodais could appear snobbish or arrogant. Manners were an essential aspect of his honor, and he considered good manners to be the mark of both professionalism and civilization. Any peer meeting him for the first time might have found him overly formal, but this was simply his way of being polite.
Kodais' resentment toward the Republic, the Jedi, and the Mandalorians was deeply personal, tied to the suffering his people experienced during their conflicts. He blamed these groups for the tragedies that scarred his youth and the broader subjugation of Onderon. His hatred for the Mandalorians, in particular, stemmed from their atrocities against his people. Despite these entrenched beliefs, Kodais maintained a pragmatic tolerance toward the Empire, recognizing that it had allowed for a degree of autonomy on Onderon, even if he held little love for it. This balance between idealism and realism was evident in his relationships—he viewed respect as a commodity to be earned, and few ever achieved it.

As a xenophobe and humanocentrist, Kodais was firmly convinced of humanity’s superiority over the rest of the galaxy. He looked down on all non-humans and selectively accepted certain near-humans. He viewed clones as inferior even to non-humans. To Kodais, the artificial creation of any sentient being was an unforgivable blasphemy against the natural order. His only real fear was thalassophobia—he had grown up without seeing the ocean or any body of water larger than a river or pond. As a result, he felt uneasy around large bodies of water, and although he could swim, he remained nervous both in and around water. Additionally, he had a strong aversion to being touched.
Kodais' social elitism was apparent in every interaction. He saw the galaxy as a structured hierarchy, one that must be respected. He demanded a high standard of honor, manners, and professionalism from those around him, making him appear distant, snobbish, or even cold. His formality in addressing others reflected his belief that proper decorum was essential to both civilization and personal integrity. Respect was not freely given, but must be earned, particularly among his peers. While Kodais could come across as arrogant, his actions were guided by a deeply ingrained belief in the natural order, not malice.

Having been raised in a temperate jungle environment, Kodais despised the cold. This aversion worsened after his hands were mildly frostbitten during a mountain training exercise while he was in the Army. Since then, cold weather caused his hands to function poorly and painfully.
At the same time, Kodais was not a one-dimensional figure. He was an intellectual at heart, with a deep appreciation for language and culture. Fluent in Basic, Sith, and Bocce, he valued the nuances of communication and believed language to be a form of art and cultural expression. His scholarly interests were focused on Sith lore, Onderonian history, and the Dark Side of the Force—pursuits that fed into his obsession with power, legacy, and superiority. Despite his narrow intellectual focus, Kodais indulged in life's occasional pleasures, enjoying fine whiskeys like Whyren's Reserve and  Johrian, and occasionally engaging in games of pazaak or dejarik to stimulate his mind.

A scholar at heart, Kodais had a deep appreciation for language. He was fluent in Basic, Sith, and Bocce. Outside of the Force, he had few interests in the broader world and lived a somewhat monastic lifestyle. However, he did enjoy fine whiskeys, particularly Whyren's Reserve and Johrian.
Kodais' personal vulnerabilities added another layer to his otherwise imposing exterior. His thalassophobia, a deep fear of large bodies of water, stemmed from his childhood in a temperate jungle environment with limited exposure to the sea. This fear, along with his aversion to cold—exacerbated by a frostbite injury—undermined his sense of control and caused him discomfort, particularly during long journeys. These physical limitations revealed a rare insecurity in a man who otherwise maintained an image of unshakable strength and dignity. His aversion to being touched was another sign of his personal isolation, a reaction to past trauma that led him to keep others at a distance.

Though not a habitual gambler, Kodais enjoyed the occasional game of pazaak and always carried his deck with him while traveling. He also enjoyed dejarik. He considered himself a man of culture and had taken up amateur collecting of unusual items and artifacts. His collection was eclectic, without a specific theme, as he simply collected whatever he found interesting.
Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge and power, Kodais' ambitions often led him down paths that isolated him from others. His time within the Dark Jedi Brotherhood showcased his willingness to sacrifice personal relationships and moral boundaries in pursuit of mastery. His obsession with Sith artifacts and forbidden knowledge revealed a mind that was always searching for deeper truths, but this pursuit of power also alienated him from potential allies and sowed seeds of rivalry with others who sought similar goals.

Kodais Solatus was a complex figure—proud, elitist, and driven by a desire for control, but also a scholar and collector with a deep intellectual curiosity. His rigid sense of honor and superiority was tempered by his vulnerability and occasional self-reflection. A man of contradictions, he navigated the galaxy with a blend of detachment and arrogance, constantly seeking power and meaning while concealing his insecurities behind a façade of control. In the end, Kodais' personality was shaped by both his environment and his experiences, making him a formidable yet flawed individual whose journey was defined by his quest for legacy, knowledge, and dominance.

Lightsabers
The First Lightsaber: The Conventional Straight-Hilt Design<br>
Kodais' first lightsaber was a traditional, straight-hilt design, emblematic of his early years in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood and his growing mastery of the lightsaber forms. The straight hilt, typical for most wielders, provided a balance of functionality and familiarity. It was made with a sturdy, ergonomic grip that allowed for precise control, and its design was clean, devoid of unnecessary flourishes, as was characteristic of Kodais' personality. The hilt itself was made of durasteeel that ensured it could withstand the rigors of constant use in combat.

Lightsaber
The blade, powered by a natural crystal, had a vibrant, light blue hue. Kodais' use of this weapon was sharp and controlled, an extension of his disciplined mindset. He favored calculated strikes, relying on the precise movements of Makashi, a form that emphasized defense, footwork, and finding the opponent's weak points. His lightsaber was a reflection of his early pursuit of mastery, a tool that served him well during his rise within the Brotherhood.

The Second Lightsaber: The Curved-Hilt Design<br>
Kodais' second lightsaber, a curved-hilt, was a clear indication of his evolving combat style and growing sophistication. The curved hilt, a more refined and advanced design, is often associated with the Makashi form itself, as it allows for a greater range of fluidity and precision in combat. The curve of the hilt enabled Kodais to perform more elegant and sweeping movements, allowing him to manipulate the blade in a way that provided an advantage in duels and one-on-one confrontations. With this weapon, he could achieve a balance of offensive and defensive techniques, as the hilt's curvature made it easier to perform thrusts and parries that would otherwise be difficult with a conventional straight-hilt saber.

The blade of his second lightsaber was just as carefully crafted, with a similar light blue hue, but powered by a krayt dragon pearl. The hilt was adorned with subtle engravings and markings that reflected his pride and heritage. The curvature not only reflected his deeper connection to the Makashi form but also marked his transition into a more refined and controlled practitioner, someone who had transcended the simplicity of his first weapon.

The curved-hilt saber suited Kodais' intellectual and calculated approach to combat. It was a weapon for someone who not only sought to defeat opponents but to do so with precision and elegance, demonstrating a mastery of both the physical and mental aspects of battle. His second lightsaber was a reflection of his personal growth as a warrior—a symbol of his evolution from a practitioner of the basics to someone who had mastered the art of dueling.

Starstorm One
Starstorm One
briefly describe the vessel
The Starstorm One was a JumpMaster 5000, a rugged and utilitarian vessel that reflected Kodais Solatus' no-nonsense approach to life. Unlike the sleek, high-performance starships favored by aristocrats or elite pilots, the JumpMaster 5000 was designed for practicality and efficiency. This choice of ship spoke to Kodais' pragmatism—while he had been a man of ambition and culture, he valued functionality and personal control over extravagance. The Starstorm One symbolized his preference for subtle power over outward display.

The main cabin had been sparse, with little decoration aside from a few personal items that reflected his love of fine culture. Bookshelves lined one side, stocked with texts related to Sith history, the Qel-Droma Epics, and the teachings of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Despite his austere lifestyle, Kodais still indulged in the occasional luxury; a small bar in the corner of the cabin held a selection of rare whiskeys, including Whyren's Reserve and Johrian, which he kept neatly organized.

The storage compartments had been well-stocked with various tools and materials, including Sith artifacts, ancient relics, and equipment for exploration. In a small side chamber, there had been a designated area for Kodais' eclectic collection of strange items and curiosities—everything from ancient artifacts to unusual knick-knacks he had picked up during his travels. There had also been a compartment reserved for his pazaak deck and dejarik table, both of which had been readily accessible should he have wished to engage in a game during long journeys.

The Starstorm One had been primarily designed for exploration, transport, and stealth operations. It had been the perfect vessel for someone like Kodais, who sought to delve into the mysteries of the galaxy, recover ancient Sith artifacts, and sometimes engage in clandestine activities. While it may not have been as flashy as other ships, the Starstorm One had been a symbol of practicality and self-reliance, much like its owner.

Kodais' ship embodied his personality in every aspect of its design. It had been a ship that prioritized practicality and durability, aligning with his pragmatic approach to life. It had not been luxurious or flamboyant, but it had been solid, capable, and precise—much like Kodais himself. The ship’s efficient, utilitarian nature reflected his desire for control, his strategic mindset, and his tendency to view the galaxy through a lens of survival and power rather than sentimentality or luxury.

NeMo
NeMo
His relationship with NeMo had always been rooted in pragmatism and control. When he had first encountered NeMo, he had been little more than a broken, amnesiac stranger—an individual who seemed more like a tool to be shaped than a person with his own autonomy. Kodais had seen potential in NeMo, and that potential was something he had carefully nurtured and manipulated. NeMo’s recovery had been both an opportunity and a necessity: an opportunity to unlock hidden knowledge, a necessity to ensure that the young man remained useful in his broader quest for power.

Kodais Solatus (pronounced /kˈo͡ʊdˈa͡ɪs sˈo͡ʊlˈætˈʌs/) was born in 10 BBY on Onderon, the second son of Rehm and Sanlee Solatus. Growing up under the Empire's control, he became disillusioned with its presence after losing his father to the Imperial Security Bureau and his brother in battle. His mother's suicide at 17 left him emotionally scarred. He joined the New Republic's army, but the horrors of war soured him, and he left after five years, seeking answers through ancient Sith and Jedi legends.

Kodais joined the Dark Jedi Brotherhood in 13 ABY, where he aligned with House Aleema, delving into Sith history and power. He became a skilled fighter, gaining recognition for his ruthlessness, especially during the conflict with Clan Arcona. After the formation of Clan Plagueis, he rose in prominence but faced internal strife, leading to his shifting alliances.

By 32 ABY, Kodais’ influence had grown, though he remained critical of the Brotherhood’s politics. His participation in key campaigns, like the Kalsunor Campaign, solidified his strategic reputation. However, his disillusionment deepened, especially after the destruction of the Jusadih system. He retreated into the shadows but continued his search for ancient knowledge, even working covertly against the Brotherhood's power struggles.

In 39 ABY, Kodais joined Clan Scholae Palatinae and resumed his quest for the truth behind the Qel-Droma Epics. He uncovered important information pointing to Tython but lacked the means to reach it, leading him to enlist a pilot, Tessa Drae. Their adventures took them to the planet Auratera in 40 ABY, where they discovered a man frozen in carbonite. This man, later known as NeMo, had fragmented memories and held knowledge of a powerful artifact. However, after an expedition to retrieve the amulet, Kodais disappeared, with NeMo returning alone and vague about the events, leaving his fate uncertain.

Biography

Early Life (10 BBY-12 ABY)

Kodais Solatus was born in 10 BBY in the city of Iziz on Onderon, the second son of Rehm and Sanlee Solatus. Growing up in a working-class family, he had a relatively stable childhood. His father was an administrator at a local hospital, while his mother ran a modest clothing store. The family lived under the shadow of the Empire, which maintained a garrison to control the planet following the defeat of the Onderonian Partisans. The local insurgency had mostly fizzled by the time Kodais was born, but the Empire’s presence remained a constant reminder of Onderon's subjugation.

Iziz, capital city of Onderon

Despite the Empire's dominance, Kodais never felt direct oppression in his early years. However, as he matured, he began to sense a deep resentment for the Empire’s occupation of his homeworld. His father's stories, recounting the ancient history of the Jedi, Sith, and the Onderonian struggle for independence, planted seeds of a fascination with the Force. Kodais became drawn to the legends of the ancient Sith Lords and Jedi warriors, especially the tales of Ulic Qel-Droma, Freedon Nadd, and Beast Wars. The stories may have only been legends and myth, but Kodais always knew there was a grain of truth in each one, and were not mere myths but reflected true, ancient power.

Tragedy struck the Solatus family when Kodais was 15. His father, Rehm, was arrested by the Imperial Security Bureau under mysterious circumstances—Kodais never learned the full details of the charges. Not long after, his older brother Daksis, who had enlisted in the Stormtrooper Corps, was reported as killed in action. The sudden loss of both his father and brother left a gaping hole in Kodais' life. His mother, overwhelmed by grief, took her own life when Kodais was 17.

With no remaining ties to his home or family, Kodais sold off his inheritance and left Onderon to join the Army of the New Republic. He served with distinction, participating in numerous battles and skirmishes against Imperial Remnants and the rising Pirate Nation. However, the brutal realities of war and the complexities of galactic politics left Kodais increasingly jaded and disillusioned. After five years of service, he was honorably discharged, his soul hardened by loss and the brutality of combat. Upon his return to Onderon, Kodais found himself distanced from his old friends, who could not understand what he had been through. Deeply embittered toward both the Empire and the New Republic, Kodais withdrew into the legends and histories that had once fascinated him. Pouring over moldering books and tomes in museums and libraries led Kodais off world in search of the truth.

Dark Jedi Brotherhood (13-22 ABY)

In his relentless quest for knowledge, Kodais had become increasingly drawn to the deeper, more secretive philosophies of the Dark Side. His search had led him to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, a secretive and powerful organization that worshipped the Dark Side of the Force. The Brotherhood, with its ruthless focus on the cultivation of Sith traditions, rituals, and philosophies, had offered Kodais the means to learn. There, he believed, he could learn to control the galaxy that had so often controlled him—an opportunity to break free from the oppression he had experienced as a child under Imperial rule and as a soldier for the New Republic.

Upon joining the Brotherhood, Kodais had found himself inducted into House Aleema of Clan Satal Keto, a House steeped in Krath lore, dark rituals, and a relentless pursuit of forbidden knowledge. House Aleema had been named after the ancient Krath sorceress Aleema Keto, and its teachings focused on understanding the deeper, often darker, aspects of the Force, domination, and the bending of the will of others. This had been exactly what Kodais had been seeking: the secrets of the past and a way to control his own fate.

Kodais had delved deeply into Sith history and philosophy, studying the methods of the ancient Sith Lords. These studies, combined with the Brotherhood's more practical focus on combat and Force manipulation, had provided Kodais with a comprehensive understanding of the Dark Side, from the philosophical to the brutal. He had begun his formal training in the dark arts, learning to manipulate the Force in ways he had never imagined.

First Emblem of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood

However, the teachings of the Brotherhood had not been without their challenges. Kodais had quickly realized that the Brotherhood's structure was one of constant competition. Members had constantly vied for power, and their mastery of the Dark Side had often been tested in combat. Kodais had cared little for the rivalries of the other members. He had wished only to learn and bide his time.

However, he had not been able to avoid all rivalries: that of Clan Satal Keto and Clan Arcona, one of the Brotherhood's most powerful and ancient factions. Clan Arcona, with its rich history and formidable warriors, had long been a rival to Clan Satal Keto. Their differences in philosophy and desire for influence had led to numerous tensions between the two factions, tensions that had ultimately erupted into open conflict.

At first, Kodais had played a somewhat passive role in the feud. He had watched as the rival Clans traded barbs, insults, and small skirmishes. But as he honed his abilities, his desire to prove himself to his leaders had grown stronger. He had eventually found himself at the center of the feud, often tasked with leading raids against Clan Arcona's holdings or confronting members of the Clan in one-on-one duels. His reputation as a fierce and relentless fighter had begun to grow.

Clan Satal Keto had ultimately prevailed in the feud. However, this victory had come at a price for Kodais. His growing ruthlessness and his increasing use of the Dark Side in battle had begun to affect his relationships with other members of House Aleema. Some had viewed him as a valuable asset, while others had begun to see him as a dangerous, unpredictable force. His relationship with his fellow Sith had grown more strained, and as his power had increased, so too had his isolation. But for Kodais, the path forward had been clear—power, respect, and knowledge could only be attained by those willing to take it by force or guile.

Unfortunately for Kodais, House Aleema was disbanded in 17 ABY when Clan Satal Keto was merged with Clan Exar Kun in the Dictum of Two Skies to form Clan Plagueis. The political maneuvering that had led to the merger had been a dramatic shift in the Brotherhood's power structure. Clan Satal Keto and Clan Exar Kun had long been rivals. However, facing external threats and internal divisions, the two factions had realized that combining their strengths could lead to greater power and influence within the Brotherhood.

For Kodais, the formation of Clan Plagueis and his assignment to House Satal Keto had been both a blessing and a challenge. On one hand, he had found himself part of a larger, more powerful faction that promised greater opportunities for advancement. On the other, the merging of two powerful Clans had led to infighting, as members of the former factions nursed old grudges and vied for dominance within the newly-formed Clan. In this climate of political tension and shifting alliances, Kodais had seen a new opportunity for power.

Clan Plagueis (23-32 ABY)

During the War of Ascension, Kodais, driven by ambition and a thirst for purpose, joined Battleteam Satal Victus as the Clan Plagueis launched its invasion of Morroth. Kodais and another Dark Jedi were sent as an advanced element to disable the defense grid surrounding Alpha Base. Their success paved the way for a quick, overwhelming assault and ultimately, the pacification of Morroth.

Amidst this chaos, Kodais found a mentor in Braecen Kaeth, who took him on as an apprentice, initiating his formal training in the ways of the Dark Side. Under Kaeth's guidance, Kodais learned the subtle and dangerous arts of the Dark Jedi, but it was not to last as Kaeth remained on Antei following the Unification. By 25 ABY, Kodais had been apprenticed to a new master, Vivackus Kavon di Plagia. It was under Kavon that Kodais attained the rank of Dark Jedi Knight. This transition marked a significant shift in his allegiances and his understanding of the Brotherhood’s complex web of power.

In 27 ABY, the Brotherhood’s internal structure underwent a dramatic shift. Clan Plagueis, like the other Clans, was reorganized into Houses, while House Satal Keto was disbanded entirely. These events sent shockwaves through the ranks, and Kodais, whose allegiance to Clan Plagueis had already been firmly established, found himself at a crossroads. The changes within the organization mirrored the turbulence of the Brotherhood itself—shifting allegiances, power struggles, and betrayals became a constant.

By 29 ABY, the political state of House Plagueis had deteriorated to the point of possible revolution. In an effort to stabilize the situation and preserve order, Kodais joined Battleteam Primus Pilus as a founding member, where his strategic acumen quickly earned him recognition in the internal struggle to support the rightful Summit. His role in the Invasion of New Tython helped solidify his position within the House, but the conflicts also deepened his disillusionment with the internal power games of the Brotherhood. By 30 ABY, Kodais had been promoted to the rank of Krath Priest, a sign of his growing influence, yet he also began to feel the weight of the Brotherhood’s manipulation and internal conflict.

The destruction of the Jusadih system during the Horizons Crisis marked a personal turning point for Kodais. This catastrophic event served as a stark reminder of the cost of the Brotherhood’s endless battles, prompting Kodais to withdraw from public view as he grappled with his growing disillusionment. To make matters worse, House Plagueis was reorganized in a manner that Kodais fundamentally disagreed with, further driving a wedge between him and the Clan's leadership. In the face of these shifting tides, Kodais chose to retreat into the shadows, where he could reflect on the true nature of House Plagueis, the Brotherhood, and his place within them.

Despite his withdrawal, Kodais’ influence was far from diminished. He was persuaded by Tra'an Reith to participate in the Dark Crusade's Kalsunor Campaign. The campaign proved to be a defining moment for Kodais, reminding him of his strategic genius and his capacity for leadership. His efforts played a pivotal role in the success of the Crusade, and by the end of the campaign, Clan Plagueis was reinstated, regaining its former prestige within the Brotherhood.

Kodais, ever the pragmatist, did not let these victories cloud his judgment. He remained critical of the Brotherhood’s internal politics, but his role in the Kalsunor Campaign reaffirmed his value within the Clan. By 32 ABY, he had been reassigned to House Karness Muur of Clan Plagueis, yet his disillusionment continued.

Low Profile (33-39 ABY)

In 33 ABY, the Brotherhood was in turmoil as Grand Master Pravus established the Inquisitorius, an organization designed to eliminate threats and enemies within the Brotherhood. The Inquisitorius quickly turned its sights on the Krath and Obelisk Orders, issuing an order for their complete eradication. Kodais, a committed Krath, publicly renounced his ties to the order in a desperate bid to avoid suspicion. Yet, in secret, he continued to practice Krath rites, playing a dangerous game of duplicity as the Inquisitorius's power grew.

To shield himself from rising scrutiny, Kodais began shifting his allegiances, moving between different factions of the Brotherhood. In 34 ABY, he encountered Lokast Falls on Ossus, the wayward son of an old associate. Sensing the Force potential in Lokast, Kodais brought him into the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.

Tessa Drae

As the years passed, the tension within the Brotherhood deepened. By 36 ABY, Kodais joined Clan Naga Sadow and Talon Company. His skill in navigating the shadows became indispensable, but the constant threat of the Inquisitorius made stability hard to maintain. In 37 ABY, Kodais was transferred back to Clan Plagueis, where he was assigned to House Tyrannus and continued his careful balancing act.

In 39 ABY, Kodais's journey took a pivotal turn. Clan Plagueis became embroiled in the chaos of the Myrkr Crusade against Clan Odan-Urr. Though Kodais fought loyally for Clan Plagueis, political events drove him from his longtime Clan home to Clan Scholae Palatinae and the re-established House Acclivis Draco.

After years of fighting and political maneuvering, Kodais resumed his quest to uncover the truth of the Qel-Droma Epics. He traveled to Cinnagar, the capital city of Empress Teta, to study at the Great Library of Cinnagar. Some of the information he uncovered pointed him to the planet Tython, the ancestral home of the Jedi Order. Unfortunately, Kodais lacked the necessary navigational equipment to safely traverse the Deep Core, prompting him to seek out a navigator.

While searching the Navigator's Guild, he crossed paths with Tessa Drae, a talented and ambitious individual with some Force sensitivity. Recognizing her potential, Kodais hired her as his pilot to aid in his endeavors. Tessa proved to be an invaluable ally, helping Kodais maintain control over his increasingly fractured life as his influence within the Brotherhood continued to grow, despite the constant threats that loomed over him.

Nefarious Moniker (40-41 ABY)

In 40 ABY, Kodais Solatus and his companion, Tessa, traveled to the remote world of Auratera, drawn by rumors of long-lost Sith artifacts hidden beneath its ancient surface. The planet, once a center of Sith power, had long been abandoned, and its ruins were said to contain relics of unimaginable power. Their search led them to a secluded cave, where they discovered an unusual sight: a young man frozen in carbonite, preserved for centuries.

Example of an ancient Sith amulet

Kodais took it upon himself to help NeMo recover his lost memories. He spent months guiding the young man through his fragmented recollections, using his deep knowledge of the Force to unlock the remnants of NeMo's past. Slowly, progress was made. NeMo began to recall bits of information about his life before the freezing, and eventually, he revealed a crucial detail: the location of an ancient amulet hidden deep within the tomb where he had been found. This artifact, NeMo suggested, held significant power—perhaps even knowledge that could further Kodais’ own ambitions.

Kodais, eager to claim the amulet, made plans to return to the tomb with NeMo as his guide, while Tessa remained behind to safeguard their ship. Only NeMo returned, with no sign of Kodais. The young man’s mind was clouded, his recollections vague, but he spoke little of what had occurred within the tomb. Some said that Kodais had been consumed by the very Dark Side powers he had sought to control—his hunger for power spiraling out of control, leading to his destruction. Others whispered that NeMo himself had played a more direct role in Kodais’ demise, whether out of self-preservation or as an act of betrayal. The truth, however, was never revealed.

Physical Description

At the time of his death at 51 years of age, Kodais carried the visible weight of his years and experiences. He stood tall at 1.82 meters (six feet), with a medium build that hinted at the resilience forged through a lifetime of challenges. His frame was lean and functional, with no excess bulk, though his shoulders might have appeared slightly rounded from age or wear. At his height and weight of 81.65 kilograms (180 pounds), he was still solid, but time had softened the sharpness of his form, a subtle reflection of the weariness that had accumulated over the decades.

His brown hair, once perhaps darker, was tinged with more noticeable gray. It was kept short, practical—another decision made for simplicity, as if he could no longer spare the energy to maintain anything more complicated. His face, while still youthful in some respects, carried a certain heaviness. Fine lines had deepened around his eyes and mouth, especially under the weight of exhaustion. His blue eyes, rare on Onderon and a lingering reminder of foreign blood in his family, still gleamed, but there was a shadow behind them—a tiredness that spoke of long nights and hard days. His olive skin, typical of his people, had aged with him, losing some of its vibrancy and acquiring the dullness that often came with a life lived under constant strain.

Though Kodais was clean-shaven, the contours of his face seemed more worn than smooth. A two-inch (five centimeter) scar on his lower right abdomen stood out, a physical mark of an older, perhaps more reckless version of himself. Above his left ear, hidden beneath his short hair, a barcode tattoo about three inches (seven centimeters) long remained an unreadable mark of his past—something more than a memory but less than a story he willingly told. The scars on his left neck and arm, small yet numerous, were the result of shrapnel from an airburst munition during his service in the New Republic Army, and they too had aged with him. They were faded, almost invisible unless you knew where to look, but they were there, silent witnesses to a brutal past.

Kodais moved with a deliberate, slow pace, not from lack of ability but from the weariness of experience. There had been an air of quiet resignation to his presence by then. His body carried its scars and stories, but it also carried the weight of age, of time passing too quickly. His hands, once steady and sure, now showed signs of tremor or stiffening, as if every motion required more effort than it once did. His posture, though still upright, was less rigid than it used to be—more relaxed, as if he had learned over time to conserve his strength.

Kodais was no longer a young man eager for action. The years had settled into him, and while his eyes still held a spark, there was also the distinct air of someone who had seen too much and was simply tired, carrying the burden of his past with grace, but also with the wear of experience.

Personality and Traits

Powers and Abilities

Kodais Solatus was a well-rounded and highly skilled member of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. His mastery of the Force, combined with his proficiency in lightsaber combat and martial arts, made him a dangerous adversary in any situation. His mental resilience and physical endurance further enhanced his effectiveness, allowing him to function at his best even in the most demanding conditions. Kodais’s blend of powerful Force abilities, combat expertise, and intellectual acumen earned him a reputation as a formidable force within the Brotherhood.

Force Powers

Telekinesis
Kodais achieved advanced mastery over Force telekinesis, allowing him to manipulate a wide range of objects, from simple items to complex mechanical devices like locks, with fine precision. His control over the Force enabled him to move multiple objects simultaneously, performing intricate manipulations with accuracy and ease.

Barrier
Through intense training, Kodais developed an instinctive ability to create a Force Barrier, a protective shield that absorbed and dispersed energy attacks, such as blaster bolts or Force Lightning. This Barrier allowed him to withstand multiple energy-based attacks without significant strain, offering him a notable advantage in combat situations. However, his ability to sustain the Barrier depended on his physical condition, with fatigue or duress potentially limiting its effectiveness.

Force Lightning
Kodais refined his use of Force Lightning through consistent practice. Unlike many Force users, he was able to wield this power repeatedly with minimal physical aftereffects, enabling him to unleash lightning attacks over extended periods. This ability made him particularly dangerous in prolonged confrontations.

Control Self
Kodais achieved remarkable control over his own body, allowing him to endure extreme physical conditions such as excruciating pain, sleep deprivation, and even radical alterations to his vital functions with minimal effort. He could enter a hibernation trance to survive without food, water, or oxygen for several days, a skill that allowed him to endure harsh environments and situations.

Precognition
With years of training, Kodais developed the ability to sense imminent danger and foresee potential threats several moments before they occurred. This heightened awareness allowed him to react swiftly, avoiding harm and formulating effective strategies to counter attacks or change the course of a battle.

Skills

Lightsaber Combat (Form II - Makashi)
Kodais was a master of Form II, Makashi, a lightsaber combat style focused on elegance, precision, and dueling techniques. This mastery allowed him to deflect blaster bolts with ease and excel in one-on-one combat, where he could skillfully parry and counter opponent strikes while maintaining offensive pressure.

Resolve
Kodais developed remarkable mental fortitude, allowing him to remain calm and focused even in the most chaotic or perilous situations. His ability to tune out distractions, such as blaster fire or explosions, allowed him to maintain concentration on his Force powers during combat. However, more severe physical harm or injury could still affect his focus. His ability to stay calm under pressure, combined with his confident demeanor, made him a formidable presence both on and off the battlefield.

Stamina
Kodais was known for his exceptional physical endurance, able to function effectively even when severely fatigued or wounded. He could continue performing at peak capacity despite sleep deprivation, minor injuries, or prolonged exertion, making him a relentless force on the battlefield.

Martial Arts (Echani)
Kodais was well-trained in Echani, a martial arts discipline that emphasized speed, precision, and efficiency in close combat. This skill enhanced his hand-to-hand combat abilities, allowing him to seamlessly integrate his physical strikes with his Force powers for a deadly combination in battle.

Intellect
Kodais possessed a sharp mind, with a particular talent for debate and problem-solving. He enjoyed engaging in intellectual challenges, such as arguing technicalities or solving complex riddles. His analytical skills made him an asset in strategic planning and decision-making, where he could quickly assess situations and formulate effective responses. Kodais was known for his sharp wit and sharp tongue, often using gallows humor and sarcasm in his interactions with others.

Equipment

Lightsabers

Kodais' first lightsaber

The First Lightsaber: The Conventional Straight-Hilt Design
Kodais' first lightsaber was a traditional, straight-hilt design, emblematic of his early years in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood and his growing mastery of the lightsaber forms. The straight hilt, typical for most wielders, provided a balance of functionality and familiarity. It was made with a sturdy, ergonomic grip that allowed for precise control, and its design was clean, devoid of unnecessary flourishes, as was characteristic of Kodais' personality. The hilt itself was made of durasteeel that ensured it could withstand the rigors of constant use in combat.

Kodais' second lightsaber

The Second Lightsaber: The Curved-Hilt Design

The Starstorm One was a JumpMaster 5000, a rugged and utilitarian vessel that reflected Kodais Solatus' no-nonsense approach to life. Unlike the sleek, high-performance starships favored by aristocrats or elite pilots, the JumpMaster 5000 was designed for practicality and efficiency. This choice of ship spoke to Kodais' pragmatism—while he had been a man of ambition and culture, he valued functionality and personal control over extravagance. The Starstorm One symbolized his preference for subtle power over outward display.

A JumpMaster 5000

Relationships

Tessa Drae

Kodais' relationship with Tessa had been built on a foundation of mentorship and responsibility, tempered by his awareness of her potential and emotional growth. Initially, he had seen Tessa as a promising protege—a skilled pilot and mechanic whose talents could serve his goals. Her optimism and diplomatic approach had provided a balance to his more stoic and authoritative demeanor, making her an invaluable ally. Kodais had appreciated her ability to de-escalate conflicts and offer alternative solutions, recognizing that her perspective enriched their missions.

He hadn’t viewed Tessa as a mere subordinate, but as someone whose growth and development he had a stake in. He had assumed a protective role, seeing himself as both mentor and father figure. He had guided her not only in practical skills but also in the complex dynamics of power, control, and survival within the galaxy. As she had matured and her abilities had grown, especially with her budding connection to the Force, Kodais had carefully monitored her progress, always weighing how her development could be shaped to align with his own ambitions.

However, Kodais had also recognized the complexity beneath their professional relationship. Tessa's growing emotional attachment to him, as she matured into a capable woman, had not gone unnoticed. He had been cautious, understanding that any romantic feelings she might have harbored were dangerous territory—vulnerabilities that could undermine their professional dynamic. While he had deep respect for Tessa and had cared for her well-being, he had kept a careful distance, maintaining the boundaries necessary to ensure their partnership remained productive and, ultimately, in his control.

At times, Kodais had recognized that Tessa’s desire for independence could strain their relationship. He had been aware that as she had gained confidence and power, particularly in the Force, she might have felt stifled by his guiding hand. The tension between his role as her mentor and protector and her desire for self-determination had created a delicate balance. Kodais hadn’t exploited her emotional attachment or growing ambitions but had been conscious of how these elements could shift their power dynamic.

In moments of personal conflict, Kodais had contemplated Tessa’s growing ambition and her potential as a force to be reckoned with. His tactical mind had always seen her as an asset—valuable, yes, but also someone who required careful cultivation. There had been moments when he might have seen her aspirations as a challenge to his authority or even a threat if her power had grown beyond his influence. However, he had chosen not to manipulate her outright, partly due to his respect for her abilities and partly because of the bond they had shared.

Ultimately, their relationship had been multifaceted—she had been a tool, a companion, and, perhaps, a reflection of his own aspirations. He had valued her for her skills and insight but had been constantly calculating how to maintain control over their relationship. His affection for her had been tempered by a strategic mindset, ensuring that their partnership continued to serve his broader goals while navigating the emotional complexities that had emerged as Tessa had matured.

Kodais had never approached NeMo with the warmth of a mentor, nor had he ever viewed him as an equal. From the start, Kodais had recognized that NeMo’s ignorance and fragility gave him an advantage, and he had leveraged that advantage to his benefit. He had guided NeMo through the process of reclaiming his memories, all the while steering him toward the ultimate goal: the artifact hidden within the tomb on Auratera. NeMo was a means to an end, a necessary guide to obtain a powerful relic, and Kodais had never hesitated to act accordingly.

At the same time, Kodais had been aware of NeMo's potential, the dormant power within him. The more NeMo recovered, the more Kodais had seen a reflection of his younger self—ambitious, driven, and hungry for knowledge. In many ways, Kodais had been fascinated by NeMo’s resilience. He had known that this was the kind of person who could, with the right guidance, become a powerful tool—one who could one day achieve what Kodais himself sought: mastery over the Dark Side and the knowledge to shape his destiny.

Despite his initial distance, Kodais had been strategically invested in NeMo’s growth. He had cultivated the young man's talents, using his own mastery of the Dark Side to guide him through difficult memories. But beneath it all, Kodais had always kept a wary eye on NeMo’s developing sense of self. Kodais had recognized the potential for conflict; after all, there was always the chance that NeMo’s rising self-awareness would lead to resentment. NeMo’s covetousness for the power Kodais wielded had not escaped him, though he had largely ignored it in favor of pursuing his immediate objectives. Kodais had been focused on the bigger picture—the knowledge, the continued pursuit of his own goals.

As NeMo’s memories had resurfaced, Kodais had started to notice subtle changes in him. NeMo began to ask questions, probing for more information, as if seeking to understand Kodais’ motivations more clearly. There was a shift in NeMo’s demeanor—an underlying tension that Kodais hadn’t fully understood at first. It was clear that NeMo had started to desire more than what Kodais had offered. It wasn’t long before Kodais had realized that the young man harbored a growing sense of entitlement, a desire to control his own fate and to usurp Kodais’ position.

Yet, Kodais had not feared this transformation. If anything, he had seen it as a test—a challenge to his authority and power. Kodais had always prided himself on his ability to control situations, to turn them to his advantage. NeMo’s envy and ambition were merely another variable in the equation, one Kodais believed he could manage. If NeMo wanted to surpass him, he would have to prove himself worthy of such a fate. Kodais had never seen the relationship as anything more than an opportunity for him to solidify his own standing, even if it meant manipulating NeMo into becoming a more dangerous tool.

But when the two of them had ventured back to the tomb on Auratera, Kodais’ obsession with the artifact and his hunger for power had consumed him. Perhaps it was the lure of the Dark Side, or maybe his growing frustration with the Brotherhood’s politics and its constant shifting alliances, but in that moment, Kodais had let his control slip. The final encounter in the tomb had been a turning point. NeMo had returned alone, his recollections vague, and Kodais dead.

Apprentices

 • Eridanis Aquila - Kodais' first apprentice and ultimately, a failure. Eridanis is referred to by Kodais as his "Lost Apprentice". This is both literal and metaphorical. Eridanis was a human Dathomiri that had come to the Brotherhood after seeking Dark Side knowledge past that of the Nightsisters. At first she rose through the ranks quickly and was chosen by Kodais to be his apprentice. She studied under him for two years with little progress before disappearing. It is believed that she returned to Dathomir.
 • Varoth - Kodais' second apprentice, and one of great promise. Varoth excelled in his studies and progressed through the Journeymen ranks quickly. His progress even garnered the attention of the Clan Plagueis Summit. Regrettably, like Eridanis, Varoth left Kodais' tutelage for other pursuits; leaving his training incomplete.

Trivia

 • Kodais comes from "Coadice", a gross misspelling of my real last name.
