Sights Towards the Dark Brotherhood

A Slash of Agony

Varoth Zekel was born in 17 ABY on the Harsh World of Iridonia. As acustome for all Zabraks, Varoth was trained as a youngling to be headstrong and determined. His parents were noble members of the Zabrak Clan, Xikru'th. His father was one of the best fighters in the Clan. Varoth's father always pushed him to outmatch his peers in combat and to bring honor to him and the Clan, but Varoth thought there were better ways of achieving greatness. Secretly Varoth strived to be a master of knowledge. Every chance he got, he studied old texts. He didn't care what he read, as long as it gave him new understanding or a clever idea. His father kept him on the fast track to becoming a warrior but he stood by his intelectual pursuits.

In the faithful year of 27 ABY Varoth was to perform a ritual with his father at The Rising Festival for Varoth's Selenoren (right of passage). The ritual was reserved for fathers and sons who equally showed dedication to better the clan. They were the pride of Xikru'th that year and they were prepared to prove it. Varoth and his father performed flawlessly and the whole festival was in cheers. This commotion of bliss triggerd something worse. As Varoth and his father accepted the applause for their success a startled reek suddenly came charging unto the field. To this day it isn't known why this happened but the following events would change Varoth forever... A sudden panic echoed as the beast rabidly and blindly thrashed it's way to the stage where Varoth and his father were. Quickly reacting to the situation, Varoth's father charged at the creature to try to stop the maddness. Within seconds he was on the ground being trampled. The young Varoth then had a life changing experience... The reek was meer feet from Varoth when he jumped backwards as the reek's long tusk slashed over the small youngling's chest. At that moment when the reek's tusk began to stretch across Varoth's body time suddenly began to slow. As the Zabrak was filled with Agony his eyes went white and something at an instant suddenly filled his mind and being. In a single second he saw this...

A Presence was in the distance. It was not a physical being or a spirit but it was simply there. The Presence resided in the middle of Understanding, a dark area with clouds stretching as far as the eye could see. The Presence slowly come closer and closer. Nothing was felt in the realm but the a sense of cold curiosity began to arise. The Presence began to shift and suddenly began to project thoughts and emotions. Agony, Hate, Lust, Love, Power, Knowledge, and Curiosity all became real in a single moment. The Presence then began to signal to the distance. At the far reaches of the realm there was the idea of a great civilization. The idea began to grow and stretch throughout all of Understanding. The idea then became Understanding itself. The majestic sights of seccess and prosperity were everywhere yet no feelings of joy. In a sudden moment the civilization came crashing down along with the realm of Understanding and the Presence...

Varoth went flying through the air backwards as he hit the ground rolling. The reek as if suddenly struck by lightning was lying stunned on the ground. Officals quickly ran to the aid of Varoth and his father. Varoth had a nasty scratch leading from his left hip to his right breast. He was bleeding badly and medical personal was quick to get him to the medical facilities. Varoth's father was rushed with equal speed but it was already too late for him. Varoth was laided in the medical bay for weeks, contemplating what he had experienced. The vision, his father's death, and his Selenoren all in same day. But regardless of how he put the situations together. He knew what he had to do.

Leaving the Nest

In 31 ABY Varoth was in good health and ready to explore the galaxy. Against his mother's wishes he left Iridonia on a merchent ship to find his way and discover the meaning of the strange vision he had 4 years earlier. On the merchant ship he learned many survival tricks including haggling, scaveging, gambling, and being a smooth talker. The day of his father's death and the vision always echoed in his mind. The Sight of his scar across his red chest always reminded him that he was searching for something greater then just living for today. Abord the ship he traveled much of the Hydian Way and even down as far as Coruscant. After spending 2 years with the ship he decided to take his earnings and explore other parts of the galaxy. In 33 ABY at the age of 16, Varoth arrived on the planet Alpheridies which was home to the Miraluka. There he would meet the Miraluka named Attero. Together they were about to go on a great adventure.

A Figure in the Distance

During the early months of 33 ABY Varoth was just begining his freelance journey around the galaxy. On a Strange night on a transport ship from Coruscant he had a nightmare. The Memory of his father got to him and he had this vision...

The realm of this vision was in Dedication. A Figure stood in the distance. The Figure did not see, yet it saw everything. The figure greeted Varoth in brotherly love and began to lead him in the distance. As they walked a pain was shared by them. They could feel each other's sorrows and united because of it. After the Union both grasped each other's hands again and as if through the force declared their conquest and dedication to each other. They were now Force Brothers and they were going to stick to each other through think and thin.

After the strange night, Varoth decided to follow the dream's messages and take the next ship to the Miraluka homeworld of Alpheridies. Apon arriving he toured the many wonders that the blind people had built. He educated himself in much of their culture in search for the mysterious Force Brother that he had dreamed about. After exploring the planet for a week Varoth met Attero. After their greeting, he knew that this Miraluka was the Force Brother from his dream. The two allied together and left the planet in search for their goals.

Sailing the Galaxy

Varoth and Attero left Alpheridies on a merchant ship with Varoth's friend Dex. On their travels they were attacked by pirates above the planet Tanaab. Dex may have been a good merchant and pilot but he couldn't wrap up all loose ends in his deals. They narrowly made it to Tanaab and to safty. Varoth and Attero left to explore the planet and they came accross an old Sith crystal in a cave. Varoth was instantly struck with curriosity for the Force with his find. Through more visions Varoth began to walk further down his path towards becomeing a Dark Jedi in the Brotherhood.

Varoth in the cave on Tanaab

After leaving Tanaab the team set course for Chazwa to fill out trading order. While in course to Chazwa Dex informed Varoth that he was infact going to meet some smuggling buddies for a big secret mission. No one knew what the mission was but the offering prize was too good to be true. Attero and Varoth meet before the mission and asured each other that they had each other's backs. This would challenge their friendship be the first major step to see if they could trust each other as Force Brothers. Arriving at Chazwa spaceport Varoth and Dex quickly left to the take part in the meeting. Varoth easily blended in with the diversity in the smuggler meeting. After the caller of the meeting, Flick, arrived and offered the job, Dex quickly accepted the job. Varoth and Dex recieved the package and quickly left to avoid difficulties. Unforchunatly while taking the back passageways the two were ambushed by thugs and Mandilorians. After an intense fight Varoth found himself spriting for his life back to the ship. They then took off to complete the mission, on Corscant.

Varoth & Dex

On Corscant Varoth's life would change. In the galaxic center (of all places) Varoth would be offered the great path into the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. They were far ahead of schedual after arriving on Corscant so Dex gave everyone a break. Varoth took those days to explore the great city and sight see. Dex came to Varoth and the two set of to meet with the client. They made haste while traveling further down to the tougher parts of the city. At the lower parts of the planet in an old wharehouse the stars would align and change Varoth's life forever. A Dark Jedi meet with Varoth and Dex. They exchanged some key words and finished the job. While things seemed to be smooth, more trouble quickly followed. Suddenly a captured Attero appeared with three Jedi holding him hostage. The Dark Jedi jumped in action and defeated the three Jedi in an amazing display of Force and lightsaber skill. After the conflict the Dark Jedi spoke to Varoth directly through the Force. He told Varoth to Travel to Kapsina to gain the knowledge and power that Varoth desired. Attero and Varoth left for the planet and there they joined the mystrious Dark Jedi Brotherhood and the great House Plagueis.

Varoth in the Shadow Academy

After Varoth and Attero made contact with the Brotherhood they were quickly engulfed in it's traditions. They were proud members of House Plagueis. Varoth quickly began the life of a scholar. He studied long and hard in the Shadow Academy and endured it's hardships. During his initial studies he recieved a Dark Maven in philosophy and many precursers to other degrees. His dedication did not go unseen in House Plagueis and Varoth found himself as the apprentice of the steadfast Dark Jedi Kodais Solatus. Varoth began to learn the life lessons of holding his tongue, not taking things for granted, and being careful with the wonders of the Force. Through his master's connections and his own achievments, Varoth was allowed to join House Plagueis' Battleteam, Primus Pilus. He became a part of the Blade of Plagueis and he wasn't going to let them down.

During this over achieving phase Varoth also found himself as a member of the Grand Master's Royal Guard. In the Guard Varoth found himself meeting many Dark Jedi from all houses and clans. The greater calling of defending the Grandmaster greatly overshadowed the petty squables of house and clan feuds. Varoth relished the opertunity to gain sway in the Brotherhood as a whole and this was only the first step.

Personality

Varoth remains at most, a traditional Zabrak. He is headstrong and determined. At heart he is a scholar and he enjoys his studies. He looks at every situation in detail and trys to figure out hidden meanings and the most efficent outcomes. He is loyal to those that he calls friend and he holds those relationships with honor until broken. He tells few about his visions and when they happen. He follows them and studdies their means with details and only every confides in his Force Brother Attero or a trusted master/student. Due to the nature of his visions he is always on a quest to discover their meanings. The visions only last for a few seconds at most, so he's never interupted by them when training or fighting. They guide the knowledge that he seeks and they always lead him on a journey that improves him as a person.

Varoth enjoys learning and he belives that knowledge found is deserved if you sought it. He believes that if the force is to be mastered then it must be mastered in all forms and not in just Darkness or Light. This is why he willingly follows his visions where ever they take him. While Varoth believes in information for all, he is still relitivly secretive with his findings to the public. If he spreads his findings then its only with close friends and masters/students. He also believes in the Unifying Force and that his gained knowledge will effect him and others in the future. This belief is why he is so selective in sharing infomation.

Through travel and in his youth, Varoth has learned a few languages. Currently he fluetlly speaks Zabraki, Basic, and Bocce. He knows some Huttese and what little Sith that his Master will teach him.
