Kodais joined the Dark Jedi Brotherhood in 13 ABY, where he aligned with House Aleema, delving into Sith history and power. To shield himself from rising scrutiny, Kodais began shifting his allegiances, moving between different factions of the Brotherhood. In 34 ABY, he encountered Lokast Falls on Ossus, the wayward son of an old associate. Sensing the Force potential in Lokast, Kodais brought him into the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.

As the years passed, the tension within the Brotherhood deepened. By 36 ABY, Kodais joined Clan Naga Sadow and Talon Company. Unfortunately, Kodais lacked the necessary navigational equipment to safely traverse the Deep Core, prompting him to seek out a navigator.

While searching the Navigator's Guild, he crossed paths with Tessa Drae, a talented and ambitious individual with some Force sensitivity. Recognizing her potential, Kodais hired her as his pilot to aid in his endeavors. Tessa proved to be an invaluable ally, helping Kodais maintain control over his increasingly fractured life as his influence within the Brotherhood continued to grow, despite the constant threats that loomed over him.

Nefarious Moniker (40-41 ABY)

In 40 ABY, Kodais Solatus and his companion, Tessa, traveled to the remote world of Auratera, drawn by rumors of long-lost Sith artifacts hidden beneath its ancient surface. The planet, once a center of Sith power, had long been abandoned, and its ruins were said to contain relics of unimaginable power. Their search led them to a secluded cave, where they discovered an unusual sight: a young man frozen in carbonite, preserved for centuries.

After carefully defrosting the man and nursing him back to health, Kodais learned that the individual had been frozen for approximately 1000 years. Though the man’s memory was severely impaired due to the carbon freezing, he could only recall fragments of his past. He claimed to have no name, instead referring to himself simply as "NeMo," a seemingly nefarious moniker that would become the symbol of his mysterious existence. Despite NeMo’s amnesia, Kodais saw potential—he believed this stranger, this enigma, could serve as a key to his own ambitions.

Kodais took it upon himself to help NeMo recover his lost memories. He spent months guiding the young man through his fragmented recollections, using his deep knowledge of the Force to unlock the remnants of NeMo's past. Slowly, progress was made. NeMo began to recall bits of information about his life before the freezing, and eventually, he revealed a crucial detail: the location of an ancient amulet hidden deep within the tomb where he had been found. This artifact, NeMo suggested, held significant power—perhaps even knowledge that could further Kodais’ own ambitions.

Kodais, eager to claim the amulet, made plans to return to the tomb with NeMo as his guide, while Tessa remained behind to safeguard their ship. Only NeMo returned, with no sign of Kodais. The young man’s mind was clouded, his recollections vague, but he spoke little of what had occurred within the tomb. Some said that Kodais had been consumed by the very Dark Side powers he had sought to control—his hunger for power spiraling out of control, leading to his destruction. Others whispered that NeMo himself had played a more direct role in Kodais’ demise, whether out of self-preservation or as an act of betrayal. The truth, however, was never revealed.

Personality and Traits

Kodais viewed himself as a proud Onderonian patriot, deeply invested in his heritage. Like most Onderonians, he was xenophobic. His pride in his ancestry, coupled with his upbringing, led him to believe in the superiority of the Onderonian people over most other sentients. He also despised the Republic, the Jedi, and the Mandalorians. He blamed the Jedi and the Republic for Onderon's current troubles, and the atrocities committed by the Mandalorians against the Onderonians were difficult for him to forget. However, he was more tolerant of the Empire, as Onderon had been, for all intents and purposes, self-governing under their rule.

Kodais was a social elitist, believing that there was a natural order to the universe and that everyone should understand their place within it. He had a very particular sense of honor. He respected his superiors according to their rank and offered his peers a professional courtesy, but only those who earned his respect. He gave no regard to underlings until they proved themselves, a feat that was often difficult to achieve. As a result, Kodais could appear snobbish or arrogant. Manners were an essential aspect of his honor, and he considered good manners to be the mark of both professionalism and civilization. Any peer meeting him for the first time might have found him overly formal, but this was simply his way of being polite.

As a xenophobe and humanocentrist, Kodais was firmly convinced of humanity’s superiority over the rest of the galaxy. He looked down on all non-humans and selectively accepted certain near-humans. Having been raised in a temperate jungle environment, Kodais despised the cold. This aversion worsened after his hands were mildly frostbitten during a mountain training exercise while he was in the Army. Since then, cold weather caused his hands to function poorly and painfully.
