The Clan Odan-Urr wiki policy contains all of the rules and guidelines relevant to the creation and editing of any and all official Clan Odan-Urr wiki articles. These guidelines are to be followed exactly as specified. Additionally, all articles on DJBWiki should follow the established rules for the DJB Wikipedia.
Article Creation and Content
Anyone may pitch an idea or write a draft for a new clan wiki article; however, non-personal articles must be approved before publication, so it’s a good idea to run your idea past the summit before sinking too much time into it.
Articles must all belong to at least one category, link to other articles, and display eras and Odan-urr templates. In most cases, articles should have an image.
Try to think about what someone new to the unit would want to know about your topic. Don’t get mired in trivia, and make sure the intro paragraph gives a good tl;dr summary.
Approval Policy
Minor edits, such as fixing grammatical errors or formatting, do not need approval. New articles and substantive updates must be approved as follows:
- All articles concerning training facilities such as the Jedi Praxeum must be approved by N/A before being published to the wiki.
- All articles concerning House Sunrider, or JTF Sunrider possessions must be approved by Tierra Suha'sen or Ira Ojiman before being published to the wiki.
- All articles concerning the rest of the Kiast system, the Vatali Empire, the O.E.F, SeNet, or other clan-level lore must be approved by Masahiro Haku or Mihoshi Yukiko Keibatsu before being published to the wiki.
Articles for personal characters, NPCs, and possessions do not need approval. Have fun!
Article Format
- Main article: DJBWiki:Layout Guide
The following elements should be included in this order.
Eras Tag
All articles should begin with a valid eras tag. The New Tython era was exd, and the current era is nor. For example, Tython Squadron would have the tag nor. Out of character articles such as policies must have real. Other articles may use other eras; see Template:Eras for a complete list.
Maintenance Templates
There are two maintenance templates Odanite editors should use. Odan-Urr indicates that an article is no longer relevant except for historical value. All lore articles from the New Tython era, as well as any facilities, ships, or characters who have been destroyed by past events, should be marked historical.
If an article needs revisions or updates, use Odan-Urr and replace ‘XX’ with what you think is required, e.g. ‘canon updates’ or ‘reformatting.’
Infobox
Infoboxes provide a great at-a-glance description of the article’s subject in the top right corner of the page. See below for guidance on which one to use.
Opening Quote (optional)
It is common, but not required, for an article or subheading to start with a quote. The opening quote of an article should generally be said by the subject of the article. Quotes should be written in-character, whether by Brotherhood members or Star Wars canon. This is done with Quote for a single speaker and Dialogue for a snippet of conversation.
Subject Paragraph
The subject paragraph gives a brief summary of the article’s content before the table of contents and the main body. This makes it easy for readers to determine if this is what they’re looking for. They should be formatted like this:
Raw markup:
Alethia Thul Archenksova is the current High Councillor of Odan-Urr and one of the primary leaders of the White Lotus resistance movement. Alethia came of age in the early years of the Galactic Empire, which she served faithfully until being placed in stasis a few days after the Battle of Yavin. She was, ironically, rescued from this fate by the Jedi Edgar Drachen 33 years later and joined him in Clan Odan-Urr.
Finished result:
Alethia Thul Archenksova is the current High Councillor of Odan-Urr and one of the primary leaders of the White Lotus resistance movement. Alethia came of age in the early years of the Galactic Empire, which she served faithfully until being placed in stasis a few days after the Battle of Yavin. She was, ironically, rescued from this fate by the Jedi Edgar Drachen 33 years later and joined him in Clan Odan-Urr.
The article’s subject is in bold and the paragraph contained relevant links.
Body
The body of the article should include enough content to give a reasonable overview of its subject. 250 words, excluding wiki markup, is the minimum length for most articles. Articles should be broken up into sections and illustrated in a way that makes them easy to read. If an article drags on, consider spinning the larger sections into their own pages.
COU Tag and Categories
The body of the article should end with Odan-Urr, which places the clan template at the bottom of the page.
Articles must be in the appropriate categories:
Image Uploads
- Main article: DJBWiki:Images
Image uploads must meet a few requirements. First, they must be 1mb in size or smaller (the site will check this for you).
Second, you must have legal authorization to use the image on DBWiki and mark the image appropriately when you upload it. These are your options:
- Copyrighted is for when you created an image yourself and want control over how it is used. is for when you want to give others blanket permission to use your unedited art, and is for when you want to give them permission to edit it.
- is for when you commissioned an image from another artist.
- Fairuse acknowledges that you don’t have permission to use a copyrighted image, but the image is covered under the fair use principle. For more information on what this means for a fan wiki, see here.
Regardless of what you choose, make sure the author and/or source are properly credited!
Lastly, make sure your image is tagged with the appropriate categories.
Style
- Main article: DJBWiki:Manual of Style
- Article titles should not include ‘the’, ‘a’, or ‘an’ and should be capitalized according to the same rules as aspects.
- Don’t duplicate any more than you have to. If everything you have to say in a section is repeated in another article, you should either edit down that section or remove the other article.
- Use templates when referring to the current holder of a position, e.g. HSS-QUA is the quaestor of Satele Shan. This way, when we update the template all references throughout the wiki will be updated at once. Don’t use the templates when referring to a historical event, though, e.g. Edgar Drachen was the quaestor of Hoth during GJW XII.
- Do not make headers links. Instead, use Article Name to link to the main article and provide a short summary.
- Do not include trivia sections.
- Remember that articles, excluding policy, should be written like an encyclopedia article and not a fiction entry.
Etiquette and Best Practices
- Major edits should be drafted in a Google doc. Once approved, the primary author should update the wiki.
- Cut down on the number of edits by using the Show preview button and making as many edits as possible in one save. This makes edits to the article much easier to keep track of.
- Always document your edits using the “Summary” box at the bottom of the edit page. This allows others to see what you did without having to dig through the logs.
Article Types
Characters
This includes clan PCs, as well as NPCs important enough to deserve their own article. They should use the Character infobox for organizes and theDroid infobox for droids.
Member characters and alts should be in the Odan-Urr members category, and NPCs should be in Odan-Urr NPCs. NPCs from house events should also be in the appropriate house category.
Characters articles should include this information, if applicable:
- The character’s order (in the infobox).
- An image and physical description.
- Character background and history.
- A link to to the character’s CS or the droid’s possession page: use IDNUM or IDNUM in the infobox.
- Droid model
Not all characters have enough detail to merit a full article. Consider giving less important characters their own section in the relevant article.
Events
This includes most clan events, as well as the occasional item from fiction. They should generally use the Campaign2 or Battle infoboxs.
These articles should be in the Odan-Urr events category; house events should also be in the appropriate house category.
Event articles should include this information, if applicable:
- Previous and subsequent events
- Objective
- Date (in-character)
- Location
- Key participants
- Outcome
- The different sides and commanders, their forces, and any notable casualties.
Places
This includes all locations important enough to deserve their own article. They should use one of the following infoboxes:
Locations should be in the Odan-Urr territories category, and locations on Daleem or Solyiat should be in the appropriate house category.
Place articles should include this information, if applicable:
- An image and physical description.
- Background and history.
- Description of sublocations, e.g. shops in a starbase.
- Associated NPCs.
Groups: Tribes, Clubs, and Companies
This includes all groups and organizations important enough to deserve their own article. They should use one of the following infoboxes:
Locations should be in the appropriate category. Vatali Empire, Odan-Urr, House Hoth, House Satele Shan are probably appropriate.
Place articles should include this information, if applicable:
- An overview of the group’s composition and purpose.
- An image.
- Background and history.
- Description of members who don’t warrant their own pages.
Clan Possessions
This includes articles for military units and starships. Only units with substantial background information warrant wiki articles. Capital ships should use the Ship template, and all others should use Military Unit.
All of these articles should be in the Odan-Urr military category, and capital ships should also be in Odan-Urr starships.
Unit articles should include this information, if applicable:
- Name, branch, and size.
- An image.
- An infobox with as much detail as possible on the unit’s capabilities.
- Background and history.
- Description of NPCs who don’t warrant their own pages.
- A link to the item’s possessions page.
