Wiki Type Things

My character pages are Alethia Archenksova, Vez Hirundo, Iphis Melinoe, and the ever-neglected Teikhos Ta'var. Any of those will show off my two main innovations for character pages, which you're welcome to steal for your own use.

Reference Lists

There's two parts to this. The easy one is just throwing {{reflist}} at the bottom of the page. This will automatically generate the list and the note numbers. You can manually adjust how many columns it displays with colwidth: {{reflist|colwidth=30em}}.

Whenever you want to add a new reference, in the spot where you want the note to appear in the main text, you do it like this:

That's an HTML <ref> tag around some text. You use the name argument to name your reference, and then whatever is in between the ref tags is what will show up in the list at the bottom of the page. In this case, it's a link to that old Satele Shan AED report with the display text The Arch Awakens. If you want to cite that same reference again later, you just need the first part:

<ref name="The Arch Awakens">

The name you use inside the ref tag doesn't display on the page, only whatever you put between the ref tags when you first use that citation.

Pronunciation Guides

The first trick is to write your character's name in the International Phonetic Alphabet. This may be a bit tricky if you're not a language nerd, but you can find somebody who is (hi) and send them a voice message on Discord of you saying your character's name. At that point, you just go over to ipa-reader.com, enter the IPA, pick a voice, and press the share button. Then it's just a normal wiki link, with the share link as the URL and the IPA as the link text. Example:

My education is in classics and ancient history. My day job has bounced from high school Latin teacher to cyber threat intelligence analyst, with a brief detour in insider threat. I like birds, spookiness, and putting too much thought and effort into frivolous things. I'm in the part of the U,S, where everyone commutes into DC but lives on dirt roads.
