Four thousand years before the Battle of Yavin, Mandalorians attempted an invasion of the planet Onderon. Defeated by only a small margin, the leaders of Onderon recognized the need for an expert military force, so King Ommin commissioned the Onderon’s Fist strike force. The group would prove successful in thwarting future Mandalorian excursions, but their force sensitive leaders increasingly relied upon darker teachings in their quest for greater power. Peace came to Onderon, but the power of its Fist continued to grow.

The Formation
The planet would again be thrown into dishevel when Lord General Vaklu, leader of Onderon’s military, declared a state of emergency against the Queen. War was coming, he claimed, and Onderon had grown weak during the years of peace. He struck against the capital and Queen, but Onderon’s Fist remained royalists and fought back. Months of fighting ended with the royalists regaining control. Onderon’s Fist was again placed on a pedestal for its role in the victory.

Four thousand years before the Battle of Yavin, the Mandalorians attempted a massive invasion of the planet of Onderon. In the first attempt, the Mandalorians were defeated by only a small margin.  The forces of Onderon were left in disarray, however, the Onderonian military commanders realized the need of a more powerful, expertly trained addition to their force.  Therefore, Onderon’s King Ommin commissioned the creation of Onderon’s Fist.
Exile
The entrance of Onderon into the Republic would change things. The Jedi Order cared little for the dark teachings of Onderon’s Fist and forced them to abandon the planet in self-exile. They landed on Yavin IV and within the tombs of the Massassi Temples discovered the etchings of Lord Exar Kun. They trained under his pseudo-guidance. Official history declares them to have awakened the spirit of Lord Kun, but modern historians have argued the effects were more psychological.

Comprised of ten most powerful Onderonian Jedi, Onderon’s military successfully thwarted a second invasion attempt.  The Fist received only minor causalities, revealing its incredible skill and resolve.  Although Onderon was victorious, the capital city of Iziz was completely destroyed. With the recent victory and devotion and glorification of the First, the city was rebuilt with great speed.  And with the urging of King Ommin, Onderon’s Fist resolved to annihilate the Mandalorians.
The effects were still real, and Onderon’s Fist, corrupted by the dark side, was reborn as Exar’s Shadow. They fled Yavin sometime before the Galactic Civil War and eventually disappeared completely.

Understanding that the Mandalorians could not be easily defeated, Onderon’s Fist delved into the Dark Side of the Force. Without proper influences and regulation the Jedi of the Fist, gave themselves entirely over to the Dark Side, forsaking the Light Side forever.

When Clan Plagueis moved to the Sigil System around 19 ABY, House Exar Kun archeologists discovered wreckage on Aerun largely untouched by the environment.  Files were recovered detailing the history of Onderon’s Fist and Exar’s Shadow, though no survivors were discovered. Recognizing the connection to their own namesake, the House determined Exar’s Shadow to be its first battle team, continuing its history of serving in the legacy of the Dark Lord. Battle Team Exar’s Shadow would serve the house loyally for over a decade, though the team also cycled through Commanders regularly sometimes due to promotion and other times removal. The team proved instrumental during the Battle of Byfrost with the pirate organization Crimson Tide. Exar’s Shadow would develop a fierce rivalry with fellow Battle Team Blades of Kun and assisted in the chase of pirate Alonzo Bodelle.

The New Wind
Restless Slumber
In 33 ABY, a newly elected House Summit determined the team, long since the sole battle team of the House, to have declined in both leadership and activity. The Brotherhood, Clan Plagueis, and House Exar Kun were changing as an uncertain future loomed. Quaestor Cassandra El'sin and Aedile Koga Kage elected to dissolve Exar’s Shadow in favor of reinventing the former Blades of Kun. Several years later, the House itself would be dissolved as Clan Plagueis became a House with two entirely new battle teams. Yet while the framework of Exar’s Shadow is gone forever, the spirit of its teachings and unity live on in prominent Brotherhood members.

With the Fist’s ever increasing power in the Dark Side, the Dark Jedi were ready to complete their goal of total Mandalorian annihilation.  In the third and final invasion, the Mandalorians came with a massive force, larger than any seen previously.  Against tremendous odds, the Onderon’s Fist, with military assistance, destroyed the Mandalorian invasion force in less than three weeks.

With the Mandalorian destruction, the Onderon Crown established a great banquet in the capital city in honor of the victory with Onderon’s Fist in the forefront.  However, soon the festivities were over and a need for a well-trained military diminished.  During this time, Onderon’s Fist enjoyed a time of peace as they continued to hone their abilities in the Dark Side of the Force.

Several years after the defeat of the Mandalorians, Onderon was thrown into disheaval.  Supreme Commander of Onderon’s Forces and cousin to the Onderon Queen, Lord General Vaklu declared a state of emergency when Queen Talia, daughter of late King Ommin, formed an alliance with the Galactic Republic.  Utilizing a platform that war would come to Onderon when allied with the Republic, Lord General Vaklu labeled the queen as ineffective. Imposing the military, it appeared that Vaklu had successfully overthrown Queen Talia.

However, Onderon’s Fist was loyal to the monarch and began to fight to replace Talia to her rightful place as ruler of Onderon.  As the two opposing forces clashed repeatedly, royalists against militarists, the tide was turned in the royalists favor by the appearance on an unknown Jedi, known simply as “Master”.  As the Jedi became a close advisor to Queen Talia, Onderon’s Fist along with loyal military forces recaptured the capital city and palace from Vaklu’s forces.  After an additional, six weeks of fighting the Queen’s forces finally captured Vaklu and his top leaders. With the advise of the “Master”, Queen Talia did not execute her cousin immediately but rather placed him on a trial, composed of completely loyal royalists, to make a statement.  The once Supreme Commander and Lord General, was charged for treason and attempted assassination of the monarch and was executed for these crimes.

The victorious Queen Talia and Onderon’s Fist were now charged with the rebuilding of their beloved planet.  However, when Onderon formally joined the Galactic Republic, the Jedi Order discovered Onderon’s Fist’s use of the Dark Side.  The Jedi Council acted with great speed and determination, leaving Onderon’s Fist with no other choice but to desert their queen and home.  As they departed into exile, Onderon’s Fist swore allegiance to the crown and vowed their return if Onderon was ever in great crisis again.

Exiled
After months of traveling throughout the galaxy, Onderon’s Fist stumbled upon Yavin IV.  After exploring the planet and the multitude of Massassi temples, the Fist determined this to be their new home.  After several years of careful study, the Fist awakened the spirit of the great Sith Lord Exar Kun.  Realizing the use of Dark Jedi, Lord Kun began to train them to a greater degree.  Onderon’s Fist underwent a series of difficult tasks of skill, endurance, agility and power.  At the completion of these tasks, the Dark Lord made them his mortal follower, so spread his will.  The new followers of Kun, dubbed themselves, Exar’s Shadow to reveal their newfound service to the Sith Lord.

For generations, Exar’s Shadow served the Dark Lord of the Sith.  During the Galactic Civil War, Lord Kun informed his followers of the galaxy would soon take greater interest in the Yavin system and that Exar’s Shadow must leave their dark sanctuary that had served them for years.  Before leaving, the Dark Lord gave them the task of furthering his cause, even without his direct involvement.

A New Fate
Years later when Clan Plagueis moved to the Sigil system, House Exar Kun members discovered unusual wreckage on Aerun.  The wreckage appeared to be completely untouched by the environment the vessel appeared to have undergone nothing more than a crash landing. The House members were able to remove one file from the ship’s information system.  The single file was the History of the Onderon’s Fist.  This document outlined Onderon’s Fist’s history from its formation to its abandonment of Yavin IV.  Realizing that the members of Onderon’s Fist were followers of the House’s namesake, Exar Kun, the House Summit determined to name one of their battleteams, Exar’s Shadow.  Today, Exar’s Shadow continues to hold its original cause given to the Dark Jedi followers by the Lord Kun, to further his dark cause…

―Exar's Shadow Motto

Exar's Shadow was a battleteam within House Exar Kun of Clan Plagueis. When formed it was the fictional, scholarship-based battle team within the house while Blades of Kun took the gaming side. When the latter team closed, Exar's Shadow became the sole battle team in the house. After several years of noble service, including the capture of key Crimson Tide members, leadership determined the team to be on the decline and retired it from active service. Years later, when Clan Plagueis was downgraded into a house, two entirely new battle teams would be created.

History

Onderon’s Fist

An ancient Onderon city.

The effects were still real, and Onderon’s Fist, corrupted by the dark side, was reborn as Exar’s Shadow. They fled Yavin sometime before the Galactic Civil War and eventually disappeared completely.

Rebirth

Aerun, home of House Exar Kun.
