The space station Sanctuary is the main orbital defense platform under construction above New Tython. It is a Cardan I-class space station.
Construction
With the Invasion of New Tython now over, Grand Master Darth Ashen has ordered the construction of a space station in orbit of the planet. Ostensibly, this has been provided to facilitate with Brotherhood occupation of the planet, and to help enforce Brotherhood dominion of the surrounding space. It is also expected to boost the local economy, by employing a large number of the population, providing an orbital spaceport hub, and ensuring the security of the planet against pirates and raiders.
However, the space station itself is a Cardan I-class space station, and while it can hold its own against a small fleet of fighters and corvettes, it is too weak to serve as a serious defensive measure for the planet.
The space station requires a medium sized crew of 1200 people, who are almost exclusively New Tythonian settlers and Jedi, and it employs 2000 people who live and work to a rotating roster in order to allow everyone some time back home.
The station also has a capacity of 300 visitors, minus a small allotment for the spouses of its near permanent crew, who live on the space station most of the year due to their crucial positions.
Part of this crew allotment also included a small, temporary team of trainers from the Shadow Academy, who were commissioned by Headmaster Taigikori Aybara Dupar to ensure the New Tythonian settlers learnt how to maintain and repair the space station, as many of New Tython's own engineers were not accustomed to working with orbital platforms.
The construction of the space station was supervised by Clan Arcona, who ensured it was ready in time for a ceremonial visit by the Seneschal, Orv Dessrx d'Tana, to officially commission the space station to operational status.
The space station is defended by its standard armaments of 2 light turbolaser batteries and 2 point defense light ion cannon batteries. In addition, Odan-Urr's squadron of Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptors were based on the space station, and during construction Clan Arcona left the Nebula-class Star Destroyer Invicta, its flagship during the Invasion, at New Tython to "support construction and ensure security".
The Thuron Monarchy
With the commencement of the Dark Crusade, the Jedi of Odan-Urr went to war under the guidance of Quaestor Liam Torun. Using guerrilla tactics and stealth, the Jedi successfully sabotaged and undermined the expansive war of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood and the One Sith. While the Jedi were engaged in their efforts to oppose the Dark Crusade, however, the hermit Cy Thuron came out of hiding once again, this time with an army. He swiftly conquered New Tython in the dead of night, using the technological superiority of his mercenary allies to crush the Harakoan tribes. Installing himself as the King of New Tython, Cy Thuron's reign of terror began.
The Sanctuary space station served as a vital link in Thuron's supply chain, suppressing any efforts to escape the planet and ensuring that soldiers, war machines and critical supplies were protected while in orbit. While the squadron of Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptors fought bravely, they stood no chance against the navy of the mercenary forces and were crushed as swiftly as the planet-side resistance. Rumors abound that the space station did not fire a single blast against Thuron's forces, suggesting it had already been infiltrated prior to the invasion; Odan-Urr's resident technical expert, Nathan Deciarus, disputes this theory as many key portions of sensor data and command logs were falsified, altered and erased, something the child claims takes more technical know-how than even he possesses.
Return of the Light
When the Light returned to New Tython, House Odan-Urr's flagship, the Nebula-class Star Destroyer Fey'lya's Last Stand jumped into orbit with its attendant fleet and engaged the mercenary naval forces. Strike Team Ooroo sprang into action against the space station, infiltrating and disabling it. With the space station incapacitated, the Jedi were able to sever the Mad King's supply chain and proceeded to liberate New Tython from his tyrannical rule.
Once Cy Thuron's reign was stamped out, the Sanctuary space station was repaired to full operating condition. Having lost its starfighters in Cy Thuron's invasion, the space station now relies heavily on its turbolasers and ion cannons to ensure local security and when not deployed on other missions, the NSD Fey'lya's Last Stand maintains its own defensive orbit around the planet.
