The key to success for any military lies in training leaders for the future. Warfare is taught in two methods, in the trenches with blaster and grit, or in the classroom with theory and wit. To teach the theory of Warfare and standardize battlefield practices, Odan-Urr, as many great forces in history has built a Warfare Academy; In this case The Odan-Urr Space Command Academy (O.U.S.C.) Academy, which serves the three branches of the O.U.S.C., Navy, Marine Corps, and Army.
History
Immediately after the Battle of Florrum, The O.U.S.C., then designated O.E.F. (Odanite Expeditionary Forces), were reliant on the remnants of the K.U.D.F. and new joins from within the Clan for ad hoc training. After the attempted assault on the ATVAT-5565 (Kiast System) and a rogue Guildmaster, the desire for a more consistent, secure, and heavily vetted training process arose. To ensure security, the Executor of JTF Satele Shan was tapped to design this Academy, taking the mantle as the Academy's First Commandant. Construction of the Academy was delayed due to the civil unrest following the incapacitation of the Vatali Empress and the subsequent attack on Meridian Station by the O.E.F. and Brotherhood Forces.
Academy Grounds
This academy consists of Ground and Space Warfare divisions, the former of which is nestled in the foothills of the Or’ena Mountains, far enough away from the Jedi Praxeum to ensure privacy and free air space, repurposing the former Kiast Academy. The latter is based near the Pharos station's Orbital Annex, located in the Pharos Cloud asteroid field.
Ground Warfare Academy
The site, abandoned several years ago, was seen fit by the Empress as a gift to Clan Odan-Urr, to better train their armed forces and is comprised of six complexes.
The First, the only remaining building from the original complex; A single-story building, central to the compound, which serves as Academy's Administrative Offices. The Academy Student and Staff Personnel Records, Academic Plans, Registrations, as well as other key infrastructure paperwork is housed in the Admin Offices along. Also housed in the building are the Office of the Commandant of the Academy, his Command Staff, and other Secretariat Offices.
The Second, and the first of the new buildings; A massive, three-building, six-story Dormitory complex, due east of the academy offices. The buildings, connected by a series of awnings and skywalks, are arranged in a triangular formation, their pourcrete blocks structures provide spartan quarters for the recruits and future officers of the O.U.S.C alike. The building at the southern point of the triangle serves as the dormity of the Officer Candidates, while the Northern two are Enlisted Recruit quarters.
The Third complex, due west from the Admin Offices, including five academic halls, a freestanding cafeteria, and the Academy Security Office. The Enlisted and Officer Candidates attend required and formal education initiatives among the five, four-storey tall, ferrocrete structures, each containing a mixture of general lecture halls, examination rooms, practical laboratories, and faculty offices. Alongside the academic halls stand a separate cafeteria, and the Academy's primary Security Office.
The Fourth, an indoor track-and-field facility with a retractable roof, due north of the Admin Offices. This serves as the primary physical fitness center for the Academy. In the non-track areas are weight rooms, recovery bacta rooms, exercise equipment rooms, and the sub-basement contains Offices for of the SeNet and Military Intelligence Attache.
The Fifth complex, laying due south of the admin building, is an array of various service buildings. Including the Academy's Mechanical Shops, Commissary, motorpool, and Medical Services Center.
The Sixth, is the three-story spaceport. Furnished with its own command and control center, maintenance shops, hangars, classrooms, offices, and instructors’ quarters with a full squadron of T-65 X-Wing fighters to train future pilots.
There is an orbital path that has been reserved for the O.U.S.C. Academy’s own annex on Pharos Station for non-planetary training.
Space Warfare Academy
The O.U.S.C. maintains an Annex on Pharos Station for low-to-no Gravity Warfare Training. All Enlisted and OCS training personnel spend a minimum of 1 month of their Basic Training Window in the Space Warfare Academy, to acclimate and certify for extraplanetary operations. O.U.S.C. Naval Enlisted personnel must complete a minimum of 1 month Planetary Warfare before their further training is completed in the Space Warfare Academy.
Naval Officer Cadets relocate to the Space Warfare Academy in Pharos Station's Orbital Annex after their Second year at the Planetary Warfare Academy. The Annex contains a complete Academy environment within itself, with familiar classrooms, exercise space, dormitories, and staff offices to the Planetary Warfare Academy, but with specialized zero-g simulators, ship-of-the-line simulators, landing decks for fighters and airlocks for ships.
The training at the Space Warfare Academy is broad, with many courses dependent largely upon Branch of Service, though core functions are taught, such as low-to-no gravity combat training. Naval Personnel are educated in complex naval tactics, strategy, shipboard operations, navigational and astrogation skills for both large and small craft, complex mechanisms of normal space (including how to use the natural defenses of the Kiast system), and core engineering skills. Practical warfare drills with graduate year crews are held outside the protection of the Kiast Nebula. These tests include charting passage through the Kiast asteroid fields, study of the nebula, and advanced navigation techniques to be able to maneuver through the system safely.
Enlisted
Navy Enlisted attend Ground Warfare School for the first month of training in the Or'ena Mountains before departing to the O.U.S.C. Annex on Pharos Station to attend the Space Warfare Academy for the remaining eight weeks. Further specializations may be possible, with requisite training. Such specializations include: Flight Control (large ship control, navigation tech, comscan tech, spacecraft traffic, etc.), Loadmaster, Shipboard Security (Master-at-Arms), Gunner (shipboard), Engineering (general maintenance, sub-light and hyperdrive engine maintenance), Quartermaster, Special Operations, Starfighter Corps (mechanics, gunners, flight control, etc.), Medical (medics and techs), Intelligence, and Administrative Services.
Marine Corps. Enlisted go through 90 days at the Ground Warfare Academy followed by another 90 days in the Space Warfare Academy. Special schools may be attended for further specialization. Specializations include: Military Police, Mechanized Infantry, Artillery, Transportation, Logistics, Intelligence, Medical (medics and techs), Exoatmospheric Infantry, Special Operations, Mechanics (air and ground vehicles), and Administrative Services.
Army Enlisted go through two months at the Ground Warfare Academy followed by a month in the Space Warfare Academy. Special schools may be attended for further specialization. Specializations include: Military Police, Cavalry, Artillery, Transportation, Logistics, Intelligence, Medical (medics and techs), Special Operations, Mechanics (air and ground vehicles), and Administrative Services.
Officer Training
Military Officers come through four different routes.
The first, and many would argue, traditional, route is “Green-to-Gold”, NCOs who earn their commission through their performance and ability. This is however the second most common advancement route.
Second are those who already held academic credentials and attend Officer Candidate School. OCS schedules align with Enlisted Basic Training wherein the Officer Candidates will spend their First month training with their Enlisted peers, and the remainder in an Officer Training. This is the most common method of commissioning.
The third route is those who are already, or who were previously, commissioned elsewhere in the galaxy. After verifying their claim, they are thoroughly vetted and tested. If they are unable to meet standards, the member is required to use method two. This was at one time the only way that personnel joined the O.U.S.C., or rather its predecessor the O.E.F., however it is now the least common.
The Fourth route, also known as the Golden Road, is graduation via either the two- or four-year Academy Program. Officer Candidates on 'The Golden Road' take classes while drilling and learning their military skills, garnering a stronger social network among their peers, and graduate with the prestige and honors of being O.U.S.C. Thoroughbreds.
The Golden Road
The Academy is a four year academic institution, authorized and accredited by the Vatali Empire and House Sunrider to disseminate various Degrees. The general categories of programs available include: engineering, medical (pre-doctor, nurse, administrative medical), languages, financial, computer sciences, galactic cultures, galactic history, sciences, policy and government. Along with the academic courses, discipline, leadership, decision making, ethics, and values are instilled into the Cadets through classroom instruction and practical hands on trainings dedicated to these subjects. The ultimate goal being to create a well rounded officer. When the Cadet first joins they will enjoin under either Army, Navy, or Marine Corps. but cannot officially specialize until they reach their Second year.
Those entering the Army or Marine Corps. will be able to enter one of the following branches: Infantry Command, Aviation, Special Operations, Military Police, Transportation, Logistics, Artillery, Medical (doctors/nurses/admin), General Administration (legal, accounting, etc.), and Intelligence
Those entering the Navy will be able be able to enter one of the following divisions: Fleet Operations (Shipboard Security (Master-at-Arms), Flight Control (Ship & starfighter control), Special Operations, Engineering and Repair), Planetside Operations (Quartermaster, General Administration), Medical (doctors/nurses/admin), Starfighter Corps (Pilots/Admin), and Intelligence.
Uniforms
All personnel are issued four uniforms regardless of branch for their initial training. A dress uniform, combat uniform, and two types of physical training uniforms. Pilots, flight crew, maintenance crew, and engineers across all branches are given flight suits.
Cadet Dress Uniforms
The first is a dress uniform, worn to academic classes, formations, and other formal functions. The uniform is a modified version of the Odanite Expeditionary Force Dress Uniform which in and of itself is a modification of the Galactic Republic’s Clone military uniform. This variant does not bear the O.U.S.C. Insignia on the right shoulder. The belts do however contain the seal of the Council of Urr. The branch the cadet will enter is shown by the color of the piping on the tunic closure and collar. Forest Green for the Army, Crimson for the Marine Corps., and Star Command Blue for the Navy, Starfighter Corps personnel wear uniforms identical to the Navy. Cadets wear no rank beyond metallic discs on their shoulder straps to indicate what year they are. As first year cadets, all cadets are given one disk and one disk is added for each year of time at the academy starting. No medals are worn on the cadet uniform.
Enlisted Dress Uniforms
The enlisted uniforms are exactly the same as their operational counterparts with no variations. During training, future O.U.S.C. enlisted wear no rank, medals, or decorations on any uniform except for the seal of the Council of Urr. At Graduation, their rank is pinned along with their O.U.S.C. patch onto the dress uniform.
Operational Combat Uniforms
The second uniform, shared between the Enlisted and Officer training programs, consists of a top, bottom, gloves, watch cap, combat boots, & a helmet with various shades of grey in random patterning as camouflage. No rank or patches are displayed on this uniform, unlike its active duty counterpart. Due to the training nature of the Academy, no other uniforms are deemed necessary. After training, they will be issued two sets of each type of field/combat uniform.
Naval Cadets and Enlisted will be issued a set of navy blue colored combat uniforms for use onboard ships. Those assigned to the engineering department are permitted to wear a jumpsuit variant colored in crimson.
Starfighter Corps Uniforms
Those who are receiving training to work in, on, or around starfighters are given two sets of jumpsuits along with the standard sets of uniforms. One jumpsuit type is a solid orange, similar to those worn by the Alliance to Restore the Republic and are intended for flight operations. The second is a navy blue jumpsuit the same shade as the combat uniforms intended for use onboard the ship.
PT Uniform
The third uniform, also shared between the training programs, consists of a grey short-sleeved top, black trunk style shorts, athletic training shoes, and a highly reflective belt. The shirt has the branch name in Aurebesh across the front, and a single letter on the back taken from the first letter of the branch. There is no difference between this uniform and it’s active duty counterpart except that rank is shown on the active duty reflective belt.
The fourth uniform is a variant of the third but with a grey long sleeve turtleneck shirt, long black sweatpants, athletic training shoes, two types of watch caps, gloves, and a highly reflective belt.
