The Imperial Ptolomean Guard (IPG) is the main defensive unit on the planet of Ptolomea in the Cocytus System, within the Scholae Palatinae dominion. This unit falls under the Cocytus System Defense Force, within the Imperial Scholae Guard of the Scholae Palatinae Military.
History
The Imperial Ptolomean Guard in its current form did not come into existence until the Clan of Scholae Palatinae arrived on the planet of Ptolomea and used their power and influence to establish order and security on the planet in defense of its assets. In the years that followed its creation, it would see an expanded role as role models within the system to encourage recruitment across the entire Cocytus System as a local defensive unit.
With the de-clanning of Scholae Palatinae, the House known as Caliburnus would be closed, and extra emphasis given by the Emperor at the time to the IPG to maintain order during the period of chaos that followed. Although eventually reopened as a Battle Team, the IPG would move into the former headquarters of the House and found themselves in the Serpent's Vanguard. They have since joined up into the collective Cocytus System Defense Force with the other Guard units, and found a systemic Imperial way of life throughout their ranks.
Deployment & Garrison
The Imperial Ptolomean Guard is based out of the Serpent's Vanguard on Ptolomea, former headquarters of Caliburnus. It is not in a particularly populated area, but is a centralized location they can quickly respond to any necessary operations across the entire planet from, as well as easy deployment as necessary to other planets within the Cocytus System.
Structure
The Imperial Ptolomean Guard consists of the 7th Legion, 8th Legion and 9th Legions attached to the Cocytus System Defense Force, as well as the 3rd Airlift Squadron and 25th Light Artillery Battery. While the Ptolomean Militia is expected to police the civilians and quell any riots or civil unrest, the IPG is expected to fight off any aggressive attacker which is threatening Ptolomea or the rest of the Cocytus System. The 3rd Airlift Squadron is designated to transport troops across the planet, to complete missions, or to transport wounded to hospitals. While the 25th Light Artillery Battery assist the infantry in their missions.
