The Dajorra Confederacy is the name of the reorganized system-spanning government that unites the most prominent local powers within the Dajorra System in a parliamentary-style democracy.

Brief History

As a reaction to the devastating attacks unleashed on the system (and many other Brotherhood territories), the various political entities present within Dajorra came together in 22 ABY to draft and sign the Doto Accords, the founding document of what was then called the Kaedean Confederation orchestrated by Mejas Doto. Originally, the Confederacy consisted of four major entities: the Commonwealth of Eldar, the Commonwealth of Selen, the Freeholders' Assembly and the Trustees' Committee. Both Commonwealths signed several concessions to the Trustees in exchange for a permanent defense contract.

Historically, the Confederacy was an autocracy in all but name only, presenting itself to the wider galaxy as a parliamentary-style democracy while the Arconan Summit with the Shadow Lord(Consul) at its head ruled the system and all within it. However, events over the recent public conflicts with The Pretender War and several other instances had tested Arcona’s secrecy as a shadow government and added fuel to the old fable of Force-users among the Arconan Armed Forces and Confederacy. After the Battle of Brimstone in 42ABY, there was no denying those claims and fear was rampant among Selenians after the False Gods’ assaults.

A call for change and responsibility, Arcona finally stepped out from the shadows into transparency in 42 ABY after a couple years of progressive action, lead by then Consul Zuza Lottson and Proconsul Diyrian "Diy" Grivna. Working alongside the other local governments and organizations, sweeping changes have been made to Confederacy’s laws to place more power in the hands of its constituent political entities. The Kaedean Confederacy was officially renamed to the Dajorran Confederacy after a couple years of being referred to as such. In addition to the four major entities listed above, the Dajorra Confederacy recognizes and added The Gethsemane Council, the Board of Directors, and Clan Arcona itself.

Government Organization and Politics

The Dajorran Confederacy is split into several branches of governance. On the planetary scale, the Commonwealths are allowed to govern themselves in matters of local concern such as public safety, public health, criminal justice, and so on. The Freeholders’ Assembly meanwhile is a collective parliament body focused on similar concerns on the system-wide scale and handles diplomatic relations for the Confederacy. The Trustees Committee, in addition to maintaining a system defense force and orchestrating further governmental reform, can veto any action made by either Commonwealth or the Freeholder’s Assembly at any level of government and set statutes in place that affect the Confederacy as a whole with a simple majority vote. Only action dictated by simple majority vote from the executive branch of the affected Commonwealth (one or both depending on the issue) and a super majority vote from the Freeholders Assembly can overcome a Trustees veto or statute.

Commonwealths

Commonwealth of Eldar
Main article: Eldar

Eldar is populated by two species: the near-human Sardenians and the reptillian Kaedeans. There has been a long history between them of oppression and conflict. During the signing of the Doto Accords, the Commonwealth of Eldar was formed with an Overcouncil — a joint government assembly between the Kaedean Shogunate & Sardenian Sodality to oversee it. Originally, it consisted of the Keadean Shogun, two of their vassals, and two Sardenian Kings. After a devastating plague, the Commonwealth of Eldar was abandoned, only to be rebuilt through the efforts of House Galeres over the last few years and the current reformation.

The current Commonwealth of Eldar’s Overcouncil has expanded to include an equal number of Varna, Sardenian religious leaders, as there were Kaedean vassals. The current Shogun participates in the Overcouncil(taking a Keadean seat), while the Kasha, the Sardenian religious ruler, leaves it to his Varna. Despite both parties respecting and upholding the peace treaty between them, there is still some tension. Thus, Clan Arcona has a representative on the Overcouncil to aid as a facilitator through stalls in decision-making and moderator through conflict.

While Eldar’s technology level is still developing, their main contributions to the Confederacy is use of its natural resources and lending their support, legitimizing the Confederation itself. Both the Sardenians and Kaedeans seek resources to improve their security, health and safety, with the former being more invested with the diplomatic relations within the system while the latter favors defense.

Commonwealth of Selen
Main article: Selen

Selenians is a term that predominantly refers to the species of near-humans indigenous to Selen as well as others who have sought citizenship or born on the planet. The Commonwealth of Selen, created as well during the Doto Accords, oversees the various populaces on Selen. It has been led by a Board of Supervisors who manage the governmental needs of the commonwealth. The Supervisors had formerly been a representative from each of Selen’s five cities: Celeste, Estle City, Korda, Naruba City, and Zainab. After recent reform, more supervisors have been invited and added to the board, figures who represent the traditional Selenian communities who live outside the cities. This initiative, the Kērawa Initiative, is ongoing with Bril Teg Erinos taking lead on it.

The Selenians have moderate levels of technology and make exceptional architects, structural and agricultural engineers. A neighboring planet Sukhur had been engineered with Arcona’s advanced technology and the Selenians' revolutionary architectural concepts. Their Xenoforming efforts on Selen’s moon, Boral, led to the creation of Elysar Planetary Engineering corporation. Their knowledge and resources have only been growing due to Arcona’s influence and exposure, which is certainly a matter they strive to improve. The Board of Supervisors is heavily intent on the security of their own political governance, the perception of which had been challenged with Clan Arcona’s transparency. Despite that, a number of them have the opinion that they are more capable to be a leading force in the Dajorra Confederacy, resulting in members being bold in Assembly and Committee meetings.

The Commonwealth of Selen’s headquarters is the House of Commons located on the Hauscar Ring in Estle City.

Freeholders’ Assembly

Formerly, the Freeholders’ Assembly was made up of all the major landowners in the Dajorran System. It had functionally operated the same on paper as in practice due to the fact the ‘landowners’ were Arconans, or Shadesworn who had been granted land within the system when they had reached equitehood. Following the reform, that system was entirely scrapped to make way for one that appoints figures from both Commonwealths, the Gethsemane Council, the Board of Directors and Clan Arcona. The various means of appointment differs between the groups who have autonomy on making that decision. Predominantly it has shaped up that the full governmental bodies of a given local government or organization has seats on the Assembly, ie. all of the Board of Supervisors actively serving as Freeholders.

The Freeholders’ conduct business at the Assembly Hall located also in the Hauscar Ring of Estle City. Their business is conducted in a large oblong amphitheater-in-the-round. The rows of seats rise from The Chamber’s floor, a stage pit where speakers or witnesses may come to speak. The collective parliament body focuses on concerns of security(both defensively & politically), public safety, public health, criminal justice, etc. on the system-wide scale and handles diplomatic relations for the Confederacy. They are open to working with the CADRES.

The current Speaker of the Assembly is Akna Citali, a supervisor representing Estle City in the Commonwealth of Selen.

Trustees’ Committee

The Trustees are the single most powerful entity within the Confederation, binding together the Dajorra Confederacy as a whole. It served as the only federal authority, handling both defense and diplomacy. Formerly it contained representatives from the Freeholders’ Assembly and the corporations’ Board of Directors. The theoretically diverse concerns within the committee were to explain its power and hide the fact that the members were actually the Di Tenebrous Arconae. With Clan Arcona coming out with transparency and a move of reforming with due reparations, the committee had been completely reorganized. The Arconae were replaced with selected members from the Board of Supervisors, Kaedean Shogunate, Sardenian Sodality, and the Arconan Summit.

The goals of the Committee still remain in defense and diplomacy of the Dajorran Confederacy in relations to the galaxy at large. It will interject where and when needed in the system and planetary governmental decisions if deemed necessary to do so in the event of a possible harmful decision or conflict. Over the last year the Trustees had focused primarily on the reformation and restructuring efforts of the Confederacy as a whole. They are slowly transitioning into being a Security Council.

The Principle Trustee has always been the Arconan Consul and remains so. The present Principle Trustee is Alex Draconis. The Trustees' Committee is based out of the Assembly Hall, sharing the space with the Freeholders' Assembly. All Trustees are also members of the Freeholders' Assembly.

Varna Cellaris He/Him Sardenian Rep. for the Sardenian Sodality, Varna Cellaris was promoted recently to the position of Varna after the ascension of the current Kasha, whom he had served under fiercely loyally when they were a Varna. He holds the strong desire of strengthening Sardenian influence diplomatically within the Confederacy. Has a way of checking his cohort.

Others

Board of Directors

Maintaining less legislative power than the Commonwealths, the Board of Directors still hold a significant influence with being the lifeline to much of the System’s commerce. The Directors are elected representatives for the various corporations operating in Dajorra, including but not limited to:

Corporations of Dajorra
Image Name Location Description
Naruba Investments
Elysar Planetary Engineering
Zainab Mining Enterprise
Zratis Arms Corporation

Although nothing definitively proven, it is reasoned that the Supervisor of Naruba City has heavy connections with the Board of Directors. Many of these corporations remain as fronts for Clan Arcona’s finances and operations.

Gethsemane Council
Main article: Gethsemane

A small council composed from an establishment of estates on the otherwise untouched and pristine moon of Ereboros. This group primarily focuses on the preservation of ecological havens such as Gethsemane, and the protection of resources. The balance and strength of their power is still being developed as a new player joining the table, some reasoning it lower or equal to the Board of Directors' sway. Despite that, their members are fairly persuasive and idealistic, displaying a care in matters that exceed their personal focus.

The council is in fact filled and organized by the Arconae, senior Arconan members sitting in an advisory role. They essentially create another avenue of influence upon the Dajorra Confederacy for Clan Arcona.

Clan Arcona

Once serving as the true, hidden rulers of the Dajorra System, Clan Arcona was forced to reveal itself during the events of the Battle of Brimstone. Whether through an act of genuine goodwill or a strategic move to placate the ire of a populace now painfully aware of the Force users who had lorded over them in secret, the membrs of Clan Arcona's summit ceded much of their power through the reconstruction of the Dajorran Confederacy. Be that as it may, Clan Arcona still remains one of, if not the most, powerful entity within the system's government, and exercises various forms of influence and control to enhance its interests.
