Template:Company infobox The Dlarit Special Operations Group, more commonly known simply as D-SOG, is the Dlarit Corporation's external hazard intervention, espionage, intelligence and logistics unit. It serves as the special forces counterpart to the domestic security provided by the Dlarit Security Force. D-SOG is led by the commander general who heads the Department of Defense.

D-SOG is the only branch of the corporation aware their masters are Sith. They are hand picked from the ranks of the DSF and undergo additional conditioning to ensure their loyalty.

D-SOG also provides a direct cover for the members of Clan Naga Sadow within the other facets of the Dlarit Corporation by virtue of D-SOG's senior status among the corporation's various subsidiaries.

History

The official reason for Dlarit Special Operation Group's establishment in the early part of 28 ABY was due to the failures on the DSF's part to be able to both police the corporation's assets and handle matters of external security. In truth D-SOG was concieved following the defeat at the Battle of Antei in 27 ABY.

When the corporation's owners true identity was compromised during the Yuuzhan Vong attack mass panic broke out among the troops and only the impending doom staved off a total mutiny. This served to highlight the urgent need for a unit aware of the true nature of the corporation's owners and in early 28 ABY with the drafting of Executive Order 28-021, more commonly known as the Orian System Security Act, a section of the DSF was consolidated into a single unit to become D-SOG.

Unlike the DSF a decision was made not to subdivide D-SOG on the understanding a consolidated structure would provide more security and limit the chance of leaks.

Organisation

The Dlarit Special Operations Group is organised into two divisions. The Special Operations Division, also known as SOD, handles most external operations outside the Orian and Kangaras systems. The Kangaras Division is specifically charged with the defense of the Kangaras system.

D-SOG is led by the commander general to whom all individual commanders report. SOD is based around the Final Way and its commanding officer serves as the head of the entire division. The ships which make up SOD often operate independently on smaller missions. The Kangaras Division handles the security of Kangaras and the spacelanes between it and Orian much the same way the DSF handles the day-to-day security of the Orian system and the spacelanes to the Hydian Way.

D-SOG provides its own marines and pilots unlike the Dlarit Navy. All flight and surface commanders in D-SOG are members of D-SOG the same as all ships' crew and troops. However D-SOG does utilise similar ranks to the DSF.

D-SOG also provides troops to guard Marakith Skyhook and Ragnos Cathedral along with most of the clan's other dedicated facilities.

Dark Jedi Commanders

The members of D-SOG are aware their leaders are Force adepts. They may not be fanatical Sith cultists but they are loyal to their commanders and respect the clan's vision to re-establish a stronger government. The members of D-SOG may not truly understand the difference between Jedi and the Sith but they recognise the clan are prepared to take action against such threats as the Yuuzhan Vong while the Jedi sit and watch.

All Disciples of Sadow recieve a commission within D-SOG regardless of whether or not they wish to assume military duties. Journeymen recieve the rank of subcommander to recognise them as members of D-SOG, although subcommanders have little real power. More senior journeymen recieve the rank of lieutenant commander. Knights earn the rank of commander which is not to be confused with the navy rank. The rank of commander confers limited powers. Equites are afforded the rank of senior commander, bestowing them with wider powers than ordinary commanders. Finally, elders recieve the rank of marshal commander, granting them further authority beyond that of a senior commander.

In addition to the main ranks, D-SOG also appoints prefects to serve as military governors of certain sites. Prefects retain their existing rank and are recognised by the yellow square they attach their their rank bar. Head of the entire special operations group is the commander general. The commander general may promote members of the clan beyond their normal rank and it is common for journeymen to be promoted to commander ahead of completing their trials.

Commissars

Commissars are selected from the D-SOG's ranks and work inside D-SOG and the DSF to enforce the clan's true ideology within the military. Commissars are given complete jurisdiction to judge the actions of any trooper or officer under their authority and to act accordingly. Among miscreant soldiers, a commissar's wrath is as frequent a cause of fatality as the enemy. A commissar's word is immutable law and his visage is one of grim authority that is to be respected and rightly feared.

To ensure mutiny as happened during the Battle of Antei and the Invasion of Orian does not occur again a commissar is appointed to every warship in the Dlarit Navy. Many of these commissars are selected directly from the ranks within the clan, directly ensuring the will of the overlord is enforced. Within the DSF the lack of a lightsaber does not prevent the commissars from exacting harsh punishment on those who would disobey orders.

Special Forces

D-SOG is often required to conduct tasks such as espionage and low key insertions both of which are alien to the Dlarit Army. Due to the diversity of these operations all D-SOG companies have a special forces branch making the typical D-SOG detachment slightly larger than its equivalent in the Dlarit Army.

The smallest special forces unit is a squad of four commandos which is usually deemed sufficient to support a company of 144 regular soldiers. One commando in each squad is designated as its sergeant. Dlarit commandos recieve superior training to regular soldiers and are issued with better gear. In addition to the regular commando squads there are a handful of advanced commandos. Officially known as Delta-class Advanced Commandos, otherwise known as DACs, are designed to operate indepedently of support and recieve superior training and equipment to ordinary commandos. There are only a few dozen DAC troopers in active service with only thirty four in the initial batch.
