Purpose
Clan Odan-Urr operates a Clan-specific category within the main Dark Jedi Brotherhood Discord server for both members and non-members of Odan-Urr in addition to other official means of communication under the "Odan-Urr" or "Clan Odan-Urr" names. In order to provide a fun and safe environment for both, the collected leaders of Odan-Urr have developed the following rules for all Clan communication channels.
The guiding principle of all these rules is “Don’t be a jerk.”
Scope
These rules apply to any and all communication channels publicly affiliated with Clan Odan-Urr or its subunits, and/or operated by the Clan Odan-Urr Summit for Summit-approved business. Current channels covered by this policy include but are not limited to:
- The Clan Odan-Urr Discord category of Dark Jedi Brotherhood Discord server
- The Clan Odan-Urr mailing list (Google Groups)
- The Clan Odan-Urr message board (Discourse)
Guests are permitted in the main Clan text channel (Odan-Urr and Friends) of the DJB Discord server via the '@tourist' role. Members of the Dark Council will be admitted the same way, with the exception of 'dbb0t' who communicates with the DB site and 'darkjedibrotherhood', who acts as top-level admin. The Summit reserves the right to open or restrict access to Clan-run channels as they see fit.
General Rules for Official Odan-Urr Channels
Expected Demeanor of All
- All Odan-Urr channels are strictly “PG-13” meaning that adult content and subject matter are forbidden. The general rule is if a given image or subject matter is more graphic in terms of violence or sexual content than that depicted in official Star Wars media then it should be discussed in private or in smaller channels. The posting of images of a pornographic nature will be referred to the Chamber of Justice.
- Do not overuse gifs, stickers, images, text images (ASCII pictures), sound files, or other media. Be respectful of others. The general rule is not to respond to media with other media. Gif/image wars are considered spam and will be deleted and warnings will be given out.
- All members have a right to free speech in Odan-Urr channels, but if a member requests a certain topic not be discussed then drop the subject. Respect all other members of the channel. Consult with a member of the Odan-Urr summit if there is any question.
- Keep personal arguments and fights to private messages. If asked by any leader to take a discussion to PM, do so immediately.
- Do not publicly demean someone for your own benefit.
- Do not swear excessively.
- If someone tells you to stop doing something with good reason, respect their wishes.
- Differences of opinion are allowed but keep things civil. Do not resort to personal attacks. Topics such as religion and politics may be discussed, but only so long as things remain civil.
- Excessive trolling (making controversial statements with the intent of offending / making people upset) is not allowed.
Voice Channel Specific -- While we encourage everyone to have fun and express themselves on our Discord voice servers, we ask that you be respectful to your fellow members, as you would on any text channel, by keeping “excessive,” “obnoxious,” and/or “offensive” noise that is distracting and unwelcomed by others to a minimum. This includes but is not limited to:
- Chewing
- Singing or humming
- Squeaking, Squealing or Shouting
- Bodily Functions
- Excess background noise
We understand that sometimes these things are unavoidable, however, if you have the urge to make any of the above noises, we ask that you “mute” yourself or move to another voice channel so as not to disturb others on the server.
Serious Offenses
The Dark Brotherhood Chat Policies and the Covenant are incorporated by reference into these rules and are in full force in all Odan-Urr channels. The expected conduct of all members is outlined in section 7.06 of the Covenant. Any serious breach of conduct will be referred to the Justicar by the Consul or acting Consul.
Crude Behavior – Members must not engage in crude behavior in any mode of communication. Crude behavior includes, but is not limited to: the excessive use of swear words; provocative speech; excessive sexual discussions; use of inappropriate graphics; and unabated insults toward another’s real-life political affiliation, nationality, gender, race, color, age, disability, military service, creed, heritage, or sexual orientation.
Verbal Abuse – Members must not engage in the excessive verbal abuse (or the equivalent text-based abuse) of another, including, but not limited to: insults regarding a member’s real-life political affiliation, gender, race, creed, heritage, military service, nationality or sexual orientation; character assassination; or unjust use of Brotherhood resources to attack another through defamatory statements.
Harassment – Members must not engage in persistent harassment or torment, outrageous attacks on any other member, or actions that are deliberately and maliciously meant to harm other members’ enjoyment of the Brotherhood. This includes statements and actions taken to attack a member’s real-life political affiliation, family or significant other, gender, race, color, age, disability, creed, heritage, military service, nationality or sexual orientation. This article extends to cover harassment through the distribution of personal information, the creation of groups or modes of communication for the purpose of attacking the member, and unwanted contact with the member through non-internet means of communication, whether or not related to official Brotherhood communications. Harassment punished under this article must be to the extent and of the form that would injure a reasonable person of normal sensibilities; mere mocking does not suffice.
Use of Accounts -- You are solely responsible for actions made on any of your text or voice accounts. Do not let others use or have access to your account! In the event you are sick or injured or otherwise unable to post for yourself, another may post for you an “away” or “well-being update” on your behalf to Official channels as long as a) they identify themselves as being someone other than you and b) they follow all rules and policies. Likewise, the use of multiple voice or text accounts if forbidden.
Enforcement
All members of the Odan-Urr summit are empowered to enforce Odan-Urr Communication policy rules in Odan-Urr channels and issue written warnings to offenders. If an offense occurs, admins are required to execute the following:
- Admins will enforce this policy’s rules and implement the penalties related to breaking those rules. This includes simple warnings, short-term bans without warning, or long-term bans.
- Admins are expected to delete any comment or thread they deem inappropriate after recording the content in question through a screenshot or other means. Admins should also notify the Consul or acting Consul and provide them with the record of the deleted content.
- In the event a member has violated any part of this policy and in so doing caused a disruption that needed to be addressed by a member of the Summit, said admin in charge of the incident will fill out an Odan-Urr Incident Report Form and include all pertinent screenshots. A PDF version will be retained in a designated Summit G-Drive folder. A member may request a copy of the Incident Report, via email only, at the conclusion of the investigation and after the Incident Report has been properly filed. Additionally, a Master Incident Report and Warning Log will be maintained to track issues between members.
Short term bans without warning
- Any admin is empowered to delete (after screenshotting) any content and issue a temporary ban up to 48 hours. Such a restriction may include muting, kicking, or other options depending on the platform. Any ban issued without warning will be reviewed by the Consul or acting Consul within 48 hours.
Long term bans
- Any long term ban can only be issued with Consul approval
- Any member who receives three written warnings will be expelled from the channel in question. Members of Clan Odan-Urr will have the right to return to the channel after a period not to exceed 30 days. Guests (non Clan members) in Clan channels who receive 3 warnings will be expelled from all Odan-Urr channels and must petition the Summit for re-entry.
- While mediation and counseling is always the preferred option, any member who receives multiple long-term bans for repeated routine offenses may be referred to the Chamber of Justice for further action.
- Appeals for expulsion from Odan-Urr channels may be taken to the Chamber of Justice for review / mediation.
Special Notes
A member who engages in a discussion through email or a chat program implicitly consents to the dissemination of the email or logs by any person who is in the room or who is the recipient of an email through direct mail, carbon copy or blind carbon copy.
