Exiled from the Brotherhood and presumed dead, Zoraan sought to reclaim the Iron Throne he had once commanded in the mixture of fleet action and bio-warfare known as the Horizon event, the Horizons Crisis, or simply Horizons. The attack by Zoraan's fleet on Brotherhood space in 30 ABY struck all the Clans and Houses of the Brotherhood as well as the Brotherhood home system of Antei.
Introduction
The root of the Horizon plague runs much deeper than Zoraan's attempted revenge against the Brotherhood which exiled him. First developed by Lysu Thren during his self-imposed exile in the Drongar System, it was discovered by a crew of twelve young Sith during an expedition and eventually reached the hands of Tulak Hord. Generations later, knowledge of the bioweapon would pass into the hands of Zoraan, a former Grand Master thought to have perished during the destruction he unleashed nearly a decade before on Eos.
The plague was released into the Brotherhood in 36 ABY in advance of Zoraan's campaign to reclaim the Iron Throne. Zoraan's lust for revenge fueled the fleets that assaulted each of the Clan and House holdings before jumping towards the Antei System to crush the Brotherhood that had exiled Zoraan and to return to the Throne.
The Horizon plague claimed the lives of thousands of force sensitives throughout the Brotherhood. In particular, it heavily affected Lyspair and the Brotherhood's youngest initiates and students, and the Shadow Academy was only partially quarantined and later nearly destroyed by its infected and erratic Headmaster, Ronovi Tavisaen. Its effects were eventually countered by an inoculation developed by Macron Goura Sadow, an alchemist, which was either administered by syringe or spread contagiously in the same way that the original plague had been transmitted.
The death toll from the following battles, including military and civilian deaths, is still being quantified. The orbital bombing of Karufr and the release of a bio-weapon on Kapsina meant that the civilian death toll alone was over 30 million.
The Horizons event was considered to stretch from the first outbreak of the plague to the death of Zoraan at the hands of Grand Master Muz Ashen, though it had lingering consequences as the Clans and Houses continued to deal with the remnants of Zoraan's fleets.
Plot
Week One
On Judecca, The city of Ohmen.
Riots have taken place throughout Ohmen City. Ohmen City was once a place of tranquility with the wind coming off the surrounding mountains, but has been replaced with the feelings of hatred and violence. The riots were intense in a particular sector of the city but have spread like a wildfire across the city. An explosion rocked the city that had destroyed a hospital. Terrorist attacks were a common occurrence across the entire city. A battle drags on with a Dark Jedi Knight pinned down by blaster fire behind a battered wall of duracrete. His head was torn apart by a blaster bolt before he could even make an attempt to pull out his light saber. He was identified to being a member of Clan Arcona.
Meanwhile... In the Headmaster's Chambers within the Shadow Academy
The headmaster received a message through the holoprojector from Grand Master Ashen. Other Members that were in the discussion were the Herald and the Justicar who all were in discussion that there is a situation that was gaining urgency and concluded that assistance to be sent was required to contain the issue.
Castle Tarentum On Yridia
The leadership of House Tarentum was in the command center when they were approached by a group of seven Journeymen with blasters aimed at the elders. The Journeymen were feeling a great deal of distrust and betrayal of their leadership. The Journeymen wanted to regain their powers of the force as they lost it, while the elders were still connected to the force. The Journeymen led by Erskin Finn fired their blasters in an instant towards the Quaestor Anshar and other elders of Tarentum that remained to have their ability to use the force. The elders deflected blaster fire as they escaped into the control room to seal themselves in to prevent the infected Journeymen from gaining control of the castle. The plague would not infect the elders with their strong connection to the force as the journeymen suffered through a horrible death on the other side of the blast doors. Many other journeymen were revolting throughout Yridia which led to Fremoc to look for the Master At Arms Korras for his evacuation back to Antei. The revolt of the Journeymen remains unclear with many warriors left to wonder how to proceed with the problem. Korras was unfounded and Fremoc confirmed that the so-called “Scourge” has spread across the Tarentum Castle among a majority of the Journeymen were not well attuned to the force. The water environment of Tarentum has allowed an easy spread of infection. With Korras most likely off world, Fremoc left the system before he could be infected any further than he directly was.
Dark Hall On Antei
Most of the houses and clans have lost their Journeymen to the infection with a few equites starting to show symptoms. It has been confirmed that the plague started in House Plagueis. Violence is spreading to other systems as the madness is threatening the collapse of the brotherhood leadership structure. Korras contacted the Grand Master to explain that he massed up a naval fleet, but couldn’t get allies until more information was provided. The details of the nature of this infection were obscure and still investigated. Halcyon determined that the Journeymen acquire extraordinary power with the force to lose connectivity completely, followed by a horrid death. All the leaders came to a decision that the situation needs to be controlled and ended before it is too late.
