A Battleteam formerly (retired) within House Galeres of Clan Arcona
Mission
- "Our blows forge Arcona's Destiny"
- ―Battleteam motto
The Black Hammer Brigade was a heavy-armoured company made up of two combined-arms fire teams of infantry and armor, commissioned shortly after the Ninth Great Jedi War as part of the Arcona Armoured Division attached to the NSD Invicta. The main application of Black Hammer was to penetrate enemies’ defensive lines through use of forceful maneuvering and heavy firepower. Due to the logistics required, Black Hammer mostly only encountered combat in important theatres of war and for the most part, spent its time in training for such an occurrence.
Obelisk Assassin Juda Kodiak Erinos was chosen as the company’s Commanding Officer, sporting a Mandalorian heritage and having served Soulfire Strike Team for the most part of his Brotherhood career, the Templar was given the rank of Lieutenant and took the position with extreme confidence and immediately pushed the Brigade through intensive combat training, adamant in creating the unstoppable machine that is the Black Hammer.
History
The Black Hammer Brigade was designed to be a heavy fire support unit based with armoured vehicles. The brigades' tank's would push forward during a conflict and destroy any resistance before the ground units moved in to take care of the rest of the enemy forces.
Their primary purpose was to provide devastating ranged support for our ground troops against the enemies of the clan. This also led to the use of cover fire while the ground troops would rush our enemies from either flank during combat.
The Black Hammer Brigade has been decommissioned and has henceforth ceased to be a unit. This was due to Arcona losing it's Clan status at the time. It's legacy shall live on thoughg in the heart and souls of its surviving members that now move on to better opportunities and new missions with their new teams and units.
Military Campaigns
Great Hunt III
During the third Great Hunt, the Black Hammer Brigade succeeded in its attempt to capture a Terentatek. The process was deemed a classified mission and therefore most details of the catch are only speculated, but what is known is that the brigade succeeded with examplary honors.
The brigade also had the privilege to participate in the Arconan arena where they fought many clan members for great glory.
Roles
The Black Hammer Brigades primary roles in combat was as an armoured vehicular unit. Their many vehichles would push forth during combat and obliterate the opposition which stood in their path. Few could come close to the brute force that this exemplary unit showed on the battlefield.
Armory
Ballistic Combat Armor
Ballistic Infantry Armor (BIA)
Based on the Rebel Special Forces armor, the Ballistic Infantry Armor was a rugged personal protection system, composed of an electromagnetic flight suit and duraplast plating which was mixed with a titanium weave to allow for maximum mobility and also added protection.
The armor is matte black, as was the helmet, with hints of the crimson flight suit in between the shoulder, chest, and leg armor as each plate was individually attached. A crimson visor sported a Heads-Up-Display with a team-wide comlink, targeting reticule, and various vision modes. The HUD also displayed the wearer's biometrics as well as the ammunition left in their primary weapon. The rank of each soldier was displayed in the center of the chestplate and on the dome of helmet.
Ballistic Heavy Armor (BHA)
The Ballistic Heavy Armor incorporates many of the Infantry Armor's features, but to a lesser extent. The Ballistic Heavy Armor was more of a Mandalorian design; heavy iron encorporates extremely protective plating and a ‘T’ visor helmet with a targeting system wired in. However, while the biometrics display was still there, vision modes are cut out and only a Squad-wide comlink channel was found in the helmet. Adding to the Mando’ade flair was the intel-receiving antenna that, it says, able receive new intel about target buildings. Furthermore, the targeting system could track heat-emitting targets including people and vehicles.
Perhaps the most unique touch of the armor was the recoil stabilizers that runs in a criss-cross fashion across the shadow-black armor and were activated by recoil and blow-backs that are trademark of Heavy Infantry weaponry; PLEXs, grenade launchers, etc. These stabilizers kept the Heavy Soldier from being blown back and made vulnerable in the field of battle.
Identical to the BIA, rank insignia was worn on the dead center of both the helmet and the chestplate and a dark blue shoulder guard was found on the left, indicating the second-type of infantry of Black Hammer and the right guard is grey with the medi-chip hardwired inside. Finally, the BHA was full black with only the black ‘T’ visor and various aesthetic markings that the Heavy soldiers may choose to add.
Finally an ammunition backpack could be worn that carries PLEX ammo, grenades, a repair kit, and other weapons. The backpack was not mandatory but much encouraged by the Black Hammer command. As such, it was suggested that the Heavy Infantry find and set up shop in an easily defensible place where they could unleash the most damage while staying safe as their heavy load out doesn’t allow for much mobility.
Ballistic Tank Armor (BTA)
The final Ballistic Combat Armor was the Tanker variant, designed for tank operators and gunners. This armor, except for the helmet, resembles nothing of the BIA and the BHA. The chest plate was light armor, black in color and resembling a vest with no sleeves and plenty of pockets to store various items that the crew may need. The vest bears rank on the left and right shoulders and instead of shoulder guards, a red cord is hung from the left shoulder and holo-tags were worn around the soldier’s neck to display medical info.
Stripped down Ballistic Infantry Armor was used for the leggings and boots and a very complex helmet that requires special training to use was given to each “tanker”. Not only does the BTA helm display the soldiers vitals, it also gave a reading of the tanks ammo, shields, mobility, power levels, and mileage, making the HUD a very confusing and confined space.
Ultimately, the BTA was the lightest of all the variants, due to the mobility needed to move from the tank’s various key structures (cockpit, guns, repair console, etc.) but that’s not to say it couldn’t protect a soldier in dire circumstances as the vest was waterproof, fireproof, and can stop low powered energy bolts and the leggings, boots, and helm could stop the equivalent of what a BIA would.
Awards
Canderous Hammer:
Essentially a bludgeoning weapon fitted with a small gravity generator, the Canderous Hammer was awarded to members of the Black Hammer Brigade who have excelled in combat and proven their worth as an indispensable asset of the Battle Team.
