“The Flesh is Weak, The Machine is Tempermental…”

- Ophelia Delacroix 37 ABY

Ophelia is a human Juggernaut of Clan Plagueis and currently serving as the mentor and advisor for the Battleteam Disciples of Dreypa. She is a human with advanced cybernetic replacements, cold, brutal and efficient she gets the job done without a care for who or what gets in her way.

Character History

Beginnings

Born, as most are, to a loving and rich mother and father Ophelia grew up content and happy. The young girl, even at an early age, was considered a beauty and this beauty only developed as she grew in years. As her beauty developed as did her ego and her vanity, men would buy her trinkets and young suitors would line the streets hoping to catch her attention and take her hand in marriage, making an honest woman and kept woman off her. The problem was her vanity was so great it kept her from any of them, her own thoughts advising her none of them were worth her time or effort.

Unbeknownst to her, or her family, Ophelia was force sensitive and a prime candidate for the Empires training regimes which would of taken her from her family and turned her into a member of the Emperor’s Dark Force users. However, more by luck than anything, her family owned a Galactic Circus which travelled from planet to planet putting on great shows for the entertainment of the crowds. Ophelia herself was an animal trainer and acrobat and found delight basking in the praise of her adoring fans as well as training and looking after the animals she considered a second family and the only ones who understood her, or at least in her head she believed this to be the case. Due to her family's nomadic existence she managed to always stay one step ahead of Imperial recruiters who had no idea who she was.

Jedi Praxeum Era

In 14 ABY Ophelia was discovered and approached by a member of the New Jedi Order, who was on their own mission from the Yavin 4 Jedi Praxeum. After much persuasion and battering down of defenses Ophelia agreed to leave her family’s safety and security, as well as money, and join the Jedi at the Praxeum and begin her training.

The training didn’t go as smoothly as she or her instructors wished. he natural acrobatic ability has her ace the tests that required her physically challenged, and she was a rather intelligent woman so she was able to keep up with her Lore research, the problem came when she was challenged about her immense vanity. She complained constantly about other students being given special privileges, how she was better than him or her and how she was so much deserving of more. The instructors attempted to keep their patience with her but more often than not they would send her away from them or to meditate just to get a five minute break before attempting to tackle her again.

Despite their reservations Ophelia proved herself ready and even managed to control her outbursts, instead she kept most of it bottled up and to herself, which would become her downfall later. She was sent out on missions under her instructor and performed admirably well. By the time she went rogue she had proven track record of apprehending criminals, and at one time managed to hold her own against a fallen jedi until her instructor turned up and helped her subdue the rogue. The main issue by this time the Jedi Praxeum had with her was her tendency to exert too much force and it reached a logger head when she slew a Rogue Jedi on Corellia simply because she could. When asked why she hadn’t subdued him like the ones in the past her answer was so full of self-righteousness she was banned from going on further missions until she had meditated upon and come to understand what she had done wrong.

She tried and tried yet saw nothing in her methods that could be constituted as wrong, in fact the more she thought on it the more she began to realise how weak her instructors were. After all they saw everything covered in layers of rainbows and fluffyness and this was not the kind of person she wanted to be. In truth she knew she deserved better, no was deserving of better. She made up her mind and approached her trainers, advising them she fully understood what she had done wrong and wished to make up for her mistakes by partaking in a humanitarian cause where she could do some good and come to better understand what it meant to hold her hand and think with her head and heart in difficult situations. Her trainers agreed and so it was she was sent to the outer rim alongside her master to provide aid and support, however on the way they stopped upon Nar Shaddaa to undertake some side work, and whilst there she simply vanished into the underworld. Losing her master in the vast network of passages and underworld scum, she had achieved what she wished and had effectively gone rogue.

One Sith Era

Nothing much was heard about Ophelia after this, she cropped up now and then as she took jobs for crime syndicates or ran into Jedi from her past but she always managed to evade any pursuit they gave. Though she slew underworld scum indiscriminately she would not raise her saber to an innocent, and especially not towards one of the Jedi, even though they were fools. However something changed as the years passed and the next time Ophelia reared her head was in the year 37 ABY as a One Sith Squad Leader.

She partook in operations in direct opposition to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, she was present at Rhelg, Bhargebba, Kalsunor and finally Ziost where she directly engaged with members of the Dark Brotherhood and members of House Plagueis and Clan Arcona. She was a terror on the Battlefield, wading into combat without regards to who or what was around her. Lightsaber carving through opponents like a butcher hacking at meat, her whip arcing out from her and catching the unlucky few leaving them easy prey to her attacks or suffering as their air circulation was cut and they were strangled to death.

Her final moment came, or so she thought, when she managed to pick a fight with a Arkanian Krath Sorcerer by the name of Deimos d'Tana. During the combat in his field lab the Arkanian managed to knock her to the ground and as she fell she brought a large tray of chemicals down with her which covered the left side of her body and began to eat away at what it came into contact with. In agony and driven berserk by the pain Ophelia pounced upon one of the Arkanian’s underlings, the Arkanian himself had fled, and proceeded to smash his head in with the hilt of her saber, crushing his skull into a bloody pulp. She fled the scene as her flesh was eaten away and managed to control the agony and pain long enough for her to get far enough away that she lost any pursuers and collapsed to the ground, writhing like a grotesque marionette.

Help came in the form of the most unlikely candidate. A Plagueis patrol came upon her, noticing the marks of the One Sith and her dire situation they moved to remove her from the picture completely however seeing she was still alive the patrol leader decided to have her disgracefully dragged back to their camp and kept alive long enough to drag as much information from her as possible. Whilst in the camp a medicare examined her condition and explained that the chemicals had wasted most of her left side, including her leg, arm, side of the face. The only way she would be of any use after the interrogation was if they needed a Slave to feel pity upon. The raucous laughter was broken as another figure entered the room Ophelia was kept in, by the way silence swept across the gathered figures Ophelia could only assume the figure was someone important. He asked her questions to which she answered, after all she wasn't getting out of this alive. She explained what had happened to her and how her only regret was she would never have the pleasure of ending the life of the Arkanian who had disfigured her and removed her beauty.

Clan Plagueis Era

Somehow she awoke days later, floating in a Bacta tank. She panicked and assumed she had died and this was some form of watery punishment in the next life but she was quickly reassured by the medical droid that she was safe. After being removed from the tank and seeing her heavily disfigured form she was worked on by surgeons who replaced the damage stumps with cybernetic replacements, her eye was replaced and wires and circuits weaved up and across the left side of her face as they did their best to provide her with what she needed. When they were done she was able to see herself and how she hated. A monster, her beauty gone replaced by wires and parts. In her anger she denied them when they advised they needed to paint on the synthflesh and instead advised she would keep them uncovered as a reminder of her weakness, they could do nothing but agree.

She awoke again in the bacta tank, and this time she was introduced to the reason she was alive. The one they called the Dread Lord approached her and explained he had spared her pitiful existence only if she swore to serve him and his House. She had next to no choice and agreed, swearing fealty to the Dread Lord and House Plagueis. She was allowed to recover before being assigned to the House Plagueis armed forces, where she proved herself time and time again by undertaking missions, capturing slaves and even taking the time to train those less experienced that her in the ways of the Dark Side. She however developed a reputation as a cold hearted monster. Troops would watch in horror as she would manoeuvre them and slaves in front of her to absorb incoming fire. How she would offhandedly slay those that questioned her. She developed a few psychological problems due to the trauma she had undergone, the need to consume flesh was one of these. Believing she was less than human she undertook grizzly rituals on and off the battlefield. Her commanders let it slide as it seemed to calm her down and even enhance her combat focus but the rank and file often felt disgusted by such acts.

When the House was given the honour of reforming into a Clan Ophelia put herself forward to work within the upper Echelons. Though reviled her experience and skills had not gone unnoticed and she was assigned to the training of the new Plagueis Sithlings. Teaching them and developing their skills in the Dark Side alongside a Dark Jedi by the name of Taranae Rhode. Together, and as part of House Ajunta Pall they developed the Training division named The Disciples of Dreypa where she acts as the Instructor, as well as Master to her new apprentice Kythar Jakan.

Characteristics

Appearance

At first glance Ophelia appears an any normal human would, normal amount of appendages, two legs, two arms, two eyes and whatever else comes with the standard human package. Her hair cascades down her back flowing with multiple colours and it curls down past her right hazel eye and resting just above her chin.

She holds herself with contempt, her pose threatening and uninviting. An uneasy presence emanates from her and you certainly would not wish to approach her for a hug or any bodily contact at that. Mainly due to the reason she stands different from the main human template.

Due to what can only be described as an ‘accident’ the entire left side of Ophelia, leg, arm, side, and parts of her face have been replaced by cybernetic replacements. Going by her nature she has decided to not cover them with synthflesh, in fact the simple fact she can see the replacements daily drives her anger and contempt and heighten her position within the Dark Side of the Force. The cybernetics are custom made for Ophelia; Ancient script flows across the parts and the hand and foot both end in crafted five claws instead of normal fingers and toes.

Her dress style is whatever she sees fit. She happily wears anything that will show of her cybernetics as she is well aware of the fear some close-minded mongrels have for those who have undergone cybernetic surgery, be it purposely or not. Though as it stands her current Brotherhood attire generally involves slit dresses, evening gowns, high boots, long gloves and anything else that gives her an air of refinement. Though no matter how much finery you slap on a monster it is still a monster.

Fighting Style

She is a lightsaber combatant through and through. She is wild and untamed in combat and will go into combat with a wild fury that she hopes will quell her opponents before her. Should she become separated from her saber, for whatever reason, then she is more than adept at hand-to-hand combat and using the environment to her advantage.

Ophelia has a special connection with creatures, so much in fact she has befriended one that fights constantly by her side. Together they cut a swathe of destruction across the battlefield, her unbridled fury matched by the primal fury of her bestial companion. They both rip into their foes with devastation and without mercy that it is often hard to tell which one is the real beast. However this comes with a downside as unlike humans she cares deeply for her companion and should it fall her focus is lost which can lead her wide open in combat scenarios, sometimes with deadly consequences.

Personality

Uncaring, cold, brutal. Three words to use Ophelia which wouldn't even begin to describe exactly what she is like. She has dedicated herself to being a weapon, getting the job done and killing as much as she can as she does. She wades into combat like a butcher and comes out dressed head to toe in whatever matter came off the opponent. She has a few psychological problems, the main one being her tendency to devour flesh. She also happily sacrifices those under her if they get in her way, as there to her is nothing more important than herself and the mission. Due to the trauma she underwent with the cybernetic replacements she finds herself less than human now and this enrages her it is for this reason she leaves the metal uncovered so as to remind her of the weakness and drive her into greater frenzies.

She is curt, she hates small talk and is not one for jokes. She gets annoyed if someone attempts to pull her into any form of idle chit chat and is more than happy to just keep her mouth shut and stare someone down till they shut up. She lords over the slaves, house and clan military forces like a wild animal that’s only being held back by a piece of string and she adores seeing the revulsion and fear in their eyes as they skirt around her.

She is loyal until death to the Dread Lord, and by proxy the rest of the Clan summit. She despises Arcona for what one of theirs did to her on Ziost and will personally seek out wipe out any Arconan forces they comes across.
