Evant Taelyan (born 7 ABY) is a Sith Warrior currently serving in Scholae Palatinae as Fleet Admiral of the Fleet of Scholae Palatinae. After many years as a successful officer in the Imperial Navy he has now dedicated himself to the Dark Side. Now with The Force as his ally, he dedicates himself to a supportive style of leadership and combat where he continues to find success.
Early life and career
Evant Taelyan is a human male, born on the hot and stormy capital of the Corporate Sector, Etti IV. His father was an engineer at Cybot Galactica, one of the largest droid manufacturing companies in the galaxy while his mother stayed at home to take care of him and his younger twin sisters, Alma and Zoey.
Growing up in the middle class meant a good education, and no financial trouble. The first years of his life were rather routine, with a growing boredom as he effortlessly excelled in his studies. Even though the Galactic Civil War ended just as he entered his early teens, tales of starfighters and heros of the New Republic still stirred in the classrooms of the busy Corporate Sector among children. Like many other kids, he gained a passion early on for piloting starfighters.
He entered into secondary education at the University of Mondder in the capital city of Etti IV, where he intensified his studies in astronomy, mathematics and science, knowing he would need all those skills to be a successful starfighter pilot. Never at the top of his class, he still earned high enough marks to continue his studies in higher education. By the time that he had graduated in 25 ABY, the New Republic had begun to lose control of the galaxy and the Yuuzhan Vong War had begun, so he turned to the stars for opportunity.
Applying for a commission with the New Republic as an officer and pilot at the local office was met with rejection, failing in the physical examination. Shortly after he was approached by a recruiting officer for the Imperial Navy, and offered a commission and chance to fly for the Imperial Remnant.
Imperial Navy
After scoring within the top two perfect on the entrance exams, Taelyan was accepted into training at the elite Imperial Naval Academy. The full training took over two full years to complete while in the end ranking near the top of his class and was assigned to a training as a pilot taking the final steps towards fulfilling his childhood dream.
Vampire Squadron
In 27 ABY, he got his first assignment flying a TIE Interceptor in Vampire Squadron of the Imperial II class Star Destroyer Pestilent. However, as the Imperial Remnant remained neutral in the conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong his ship operated inside Imperial Space on internal affairs.
These limited combat engagements gave Evant the time and real world training required to gain confidence as an ace pilot. Consistently performing tasks with great success saw him quickly elevated to the position of executive officer. He was a natural in his new leadership position and quickly the successes of his squadron became well known in the rest of the fleet.
Bane Squadron
In 28 ABY, the Battle of Bastion destroyed the Imperial capital of Bastion and pulled the Imperial Remnant into the conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong. The Pestilent was called into participate in the Battle of Borosk, and Evant promoted to Commander and assigned as the commanding officer of Bane Squadron, set to fly and lead a squadron of TIE Defenders in the coming battle.
His performance in the battle was exemplary and saw him greatly rewarded for his efforts in the battle. Following the Pestilent was reassigned in support of the newly formed Galactic Alliance where he continued to see action in the conflict against the Vong.
The biggest rewards came following the Second Battle of Coruscant, where the Pestilent engaged the Yuuzhan Vong fleet above Coruscant as part of the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet. Present on the conflict were countless Jedi and commanders who took note of not just his raw talents as an ace pilot, but in his connection to the Force.
The Dark Side
Following the victory, while the rest of his squadron was celebrating, Evant was approached by a hooded figure aboard the Pestilent and asked a series of questions alluding to his Force sensitivity. Ultimately he was left with a datapad containing instructions if he wished to further explore this unlocked potential. After a night of distracted partying with his fellow pilots, with a deep passion to better allow himself to protect those under his command, he made the life changing decision to resign his commission with the Imperial Remnant. In the early hours of the morning, he boarded a shuttle which departed for Dark Brotherhood space.
The shuttle docked on the Khyron-class Star Destroyer Arcanum which was temporarily housing the Shadow Academy.
Clan Tarentum
Following his initial graduation from the Shadow Academy, the Acolyte Dark Jedi was assigned to House Tridens of Clan Tarentum where he became the apprentice of Lyze Kiel. Despite his skills as a veteran pilot, he had little experience or formal training in ground combat. As such, nearly all his early training under his new master was focused on these skills. Favoring the use of the training saber as a symbol power in the hands of the Dark Jedi to protect his brothers and sisters. This early training under his master along with his formal Imperial Academy training allowed quick accent to the rank of Guardian.
In 30 ABY, his first combat experience would come quickly as the Dark Jedi Brotherhood was planning to retake Antei from the Yuuzhan Vong. His Clan was assigned with setting up a Central Command and landing zone to facilitate incoming reinforcements, and he had done well to command the troops assigned to him on the battlefield. He had gotten his first taste for what the powers of battle meditation could do to a group of soldiers. Following just how effortlessly the Force could heal the wounded physical body.
Along with the eye opening real world experience using the Force in battle to lead those under his command, the conflict came with another test, the Jedi. The light side practitioners were fervently working to convert the Dark Jedi they encountered in battle, specifically targeting those less trained in the Force. However, when the Jedi ordered their droids to kill the soldiers under his command, it reinforced the passion deep within allowing him to avoid conversion and find success on the battlefield.
Evant returned back to the Yridia system to see himself elevated to the rank of Jedi Hunter. The year following saw continued minor engagements and time commanding his team including opportunities to once again get into the cockpit of a starfighter. It was a year of immense growth and focus under the guidance of his master Lyze Kiel shaping on what type of future Dark Jedi he would become.
Trials of Knighthood
In 31 ABY, his master Lyze Kiel decided that Evant was finally ready to undertake the Trials of Knighthood. He struggled at times but managed to completed all trials set before him and with his newly constructed lightsaber in hand had attained the rank of Dark Jedi Knight.
Trial of Skill
Specifically designed by his master to test his skills, Evant was sent on for the Consul Anshar Kahn Tarentae. It was specifically geared to highlight his strengths as a commander and leader of a squad while also presenting him with a significant hurdle to overcome. He successfully lead a small elite team of pilots in space engagement with a pirate force at the edge of Yridia space. Following the team landed, and staged a successful assault of the base acquiring their supplies for Clan use while losing no members of his team.
Trial of Courage
Evant was quickly sent him to an unknown planet, with limited time to prepare. He quickly found himself surrounded by mountains and lakes of molten lava, Yridia V, with the task to attain the components necessary to construct his lightsaber. It was a test of his courage in the face of the unknown, to persevere and find success. He managed to do so under much duress alone having focused considerable training and effort on supportive skills, but was successful in this task on his first attempt.
Trial of Flesh
This next trail was the the most devastating. Sent on another mission with a team to Yridia IX to confront an agent there on his decision to stop providing reports on activities on the planet to the Clan [[Summit]. Yet when they arrived they were overwhelmed and everyone under his command was killed around him. He was powerless to stop it. Watching as the lives of those under his command were torn from them. Following he himself took several non lethal blaster shots and left for dead. Struggling with the Force to sustain him, but almost unable to find the will to live. Eventually returning to report his failure to determine it was staged infuriated the young Dark Jedi.
Trial of Spirit
It came without really noticing it. The days in Castle Tarentum reflecting on his past and who he was. His master had intentionally give him a fully week alone with no tasks switching between seething and moments of intense meditation. Evant slowly figured out what he had become, what he could be, and who he was. It was a trying week of self-discovery that he would emerge from a stronger and more determined Sith than he had ever been.
Trial of Insight
Having tested both his skills and courage, and then suffering defeat and coming back again, all that was left was to truly see beyond what he could see to what really was. As such, he was sent to the Judecca in the Cocytus System to visit a rival clan, and met with Xen'Mordin Vismorsus the newly appointed Aedile of House Acclivis Draco in Clan Scholae Palatinae. The trial was arranged to give insight to both sides, to other Dark Jedi within the Brotherhood who could be considered allies as much as fierce enemies.
Family
After only several missions as a newly appointed Dark Jedi Knight, Evant received a troubling note from his mother back home on Etti IV that his father had become terminally ill. He went on an extended leave of absence which he would not return from. Only weeks after his return home his father had passed, his supporive side compelled him to stay and look after his mother and twin sisters above all else.
To help financially he had taken up a position with local law enforcement, and although he needed to mask his true identity as a Dark Jedi, he quickly found himself caught up in his new lifestyle. Even though his vigilante style of justice often caused internal conflict for his department the ends always seemed to justify the means to his superiors. The sector of Etti IV where he was stationed saw a drastic drop in criminal activity since he joined.
While not actively out working, he spent his time at the gym working on his physical fitness and strength, or at home studying medicine or practicing the healing arts of the Force. It was only in the deep heart of the industrial sector in abandoned warehouses where he would pull out his lightsaber and work on his lightsaber form. Finding himself more comfortable with the weightless blade every day in multiple forms.
House Scholae Palatinae
In 34 ABY, when visiting a bar to check in with several of his contacts, trying to get a feel for rumors and ongoings in the area, he ran into Warlord Thran Occasus who immediately recognized his connection to the Force and approached him. Uncomfortable at first discussing the Dark Jedi Brotherhood so openly after so many years, after a few drinks they began to more easily discuss their pasts and philosophies on life. As a result of the actions that night, he moved his family to Ptolomea where he would be under the protection of the House, and chose to accompany the Warlord back and into service of House Scholae Palatinae.
Immediately thrust into battle as the House was engaged in an invasion, the Dark Jedi Knight quickly found opportunities to prove himself as a leader. Upon the combined forces returning to Cocytus System he was given command of his own squadron of TIE Defenders.
In 35 ABY, with his successful record of command in the past, he was given control of one of the two Battleteams as well, as Commander of storied Caliburnus. Along with his squadron of fighters, now with an elite team of soldiers under his direct command and the Force as his ally, he finally found himself truly comfortable with his skills and began to shine as a commander on the battlefield.
In 36 ABY, he was sent as part of a special task force to retake the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Avenger II adrift in The Shroud. Paired with several Jedi from House Odan-Urr including his former master Lyze Kiel his team was successful in completing their objectives and helping the Dark Jedi Brotherhood to take the ship as its own. Upon his completion of the mission he was given a promotion to Sith Warrior into the Equite ranks for his participation in the attack. Following the attack he has helped his House to engage the One Sith in a series of planets as part of the Dark Crusade, finally helping his team to achieve victory on Korriz and claiming their first planet in the crusade.
Now currently working move Caliburnus to Ft. Lance on Ptolomea, joining the Scholae Palatinae Fighter Corps already stationed there. Concurrently working to replace the government in power with one more stable, and ensure a safe environment for his family currently living at an undisclosed location on the planet.

Appearance
Evant Taelyan is a human male from the planet of Etti IV. He is short for a human at only 1.75 meters (5 foot 7 inches) and below normal weight at only 56.7 kilograms (125 pounds). Few would notice his small build however under his robes, but when removed he wears his armor tight and close to his body size for easy movement and comfort. His face looks very young, hardly touched by the years of combat he had seen, but all the years show in his bright emerald eyes tainted by the Dark Side. His dirty blond hair has silver streaks starting to show as he ages, worn an inch or two long and mussed with little regard for it.
