The New Taldryan Navy is one of two major branches of the Taldryan Defense Force, forming the clan's space force. It is currently tasked with its preservation and security of Taldryan. It was previously commanded by High Admiral Tak Vordin, but upon his death and the destruction of the former Taldryan fleet, it was subsequently reorganized into a new, diverse fighting force. It has three separate battlegroups - Task Force Xesh, Task Force Yiry, and Task Force Zerek - and is currently commanded by NPC
Taldryan's Navy is home to two operational branches since it's re-organization - the fleet itself and starfighter corps - with the dissolution of the Marine Corps and 1st Combat Aerospace Regiment falling under the command of the New Taldryan Army. The new navy had a consolidated command structure.
History
Taldryan Naval Service
Beginning with the Independent House Ektrosis, and continuing on within the confines the greater Clan, Taldryan earned one of the deadliest armadas within the Dark Brotherhood. Growing from an individual ship, to a Fleet that could rival that of the Pre-Exodus Brotherhood’s, Taldryan’s fleet was the envy of the all the Clans. With it, and the growing size of the other military forces granted to the Clan, it became necessary to create a new organization in order to help with the day-to-day operations.
Consul Kir Katarn was tasked with the creation of such a force, ensuring that Taldryan’s martial forces would always be ready to answer the call, and help lead the charge into the fray. The Taldryan Security Service was the answer to that, and at the forefront, the most backbone of the Service was the Taldryan Naval Service. Serving Taldryan since 22 ABY, it weathered the storm of the Third Brotherhood Civil War, and finally ended up taking severe and almost catastrophic losses during the Yuuzhan Vong war. However, the Dark Council saw fit to funnel funds to the Clans, offering reparations for the ships and men lost serving the Brotherhood's call. Using these funds, and the connections that the Council had made in Operation Tempest Bravo, Taldryan's Fleet grew once more to be the foremost of the House Navies.
Taldryan Navy
Following Tempest Bravo, Taldryan purchased a new fleet and accompanying ground forces to exert its will and reorganized the Taldryan Military into the Taldryan Expansionary Force. The new fleet was state-of-the-art, featuring a Relentless-class Star Destroyer among several other power vessels, most notably the CSD Justice. This new fleet served the clan for several years, and had three separate branches to serve it. The fleet survived several different Great Jedi Wars and crusades, standing the test of time and handling anything that was thrown at it.
And then the breaking point. One of the clan's own, a former Consul and Grand Master - Jac Cotelin - wiped the Taldryan Navy and her fleet from existence above Karufr under the impression that his home and brethren had been hiding Jedi in their ranks. For the longest time it was believed only the Dark Prophet II survived the destruction, the last surviving vessel of the entire Taldryan Expansionary Force and on the run from the Iron Throne.
Reorganization into New Taldryan Navy
Under the command of now Consul Major Rhylance, Clan Taldryan was able to procure stolen vessels and acquire additional ones to suit it's needs. Subsequently, the Chiss ordered the reorganization of the Taldryan Navy, this time under a reformed Taldryan Defense Force. The new navy had a streamlined command structure like the rest of the new force, and its primary goal became its self preservation, hoping to avoid what had happened over Karufr.

Former Taldryan Navy
Organization
The Taldryan Navy is Headquartered on Karufr, in the naval wing of the Expansionary Force HQ. As one of the branches of the Taldryan Expansionary Force, it falls under the command of the Strategic Operations Council. It is represented on the council by the Admiral of the Fleet, TBA.
Command Structure
When it comes to Operational command, Taldryan’s Navy is led by High Admiral Tak Vordin. Based off the Galactic Empire’s Naval Structure, each ship of the line is commanded by an Officer of at least the rank of Lieutenant Commander, supported by their Executive Officer. Tradition dictates that the Captain of his or her vessel is the highest authority aboard their own ship. Though the ships will often work on separate patrols, every ship in the Taldryan Navy is assigned to either a Battle Group, or the Home Fleet.
Battle Groups are led by a Battle Group Commander (BGCOM), and on a separate ship the Battle Group Executive Officer (BGXO). The reason for this is so that in the event of catastrophic loss, and the death of one commander or incapacitation of the Flag vessel, leadership can seamlessly transfer to the secondary command ship.
Battle Group I
- Main article: Taldryan Battlegroup I
Taldryan’s First Battle Group, nicknamed Vanguard, is the premier task force of Taldryan’s Fleet. Vanguard, is as it's nickname suggests, primarily tasked with being the tip of Taldryan's spear in naval engagements. Within it resides Taldryan’s Flagship, the CSD Justice, and is personally commanded by High Admiral Tak Vordin, the Commander of Taldryan's Navy. Acting as the Battle Group’s Executive Officer, and Third Officer of the Navy, is Rear Admiral Shalla Arundel, commander of the BAC Dark Prophet II.
Battle Group II

Taldryan’s Second Battle Group, nicknamed Vigilance, is the secondary flotilla within Taldryan's forces. Generally tasked with missions that involve interdiction, and support, within it you'll find the more versatile ships of Taldryan's Navy. The Battle Group Commander, and Executive Officer of Taldryan's Navy is Admiral Raif Slaxton who keeps his flag on the BSD Relentless. The Executive Officer, and Fourth Officer of the Fleet is Commodore Kyle Takan, commander of the MJHC Compulsor.
Taldryan Home Fleet
- Main article: Taldryan Home Fleet
Taldryan's Home Fleet is tasked with the defense, and security of Taldryan's home systems. Generally, the home fleet can count on the support from either one, or both of the two Battle Groups, and as such is the smallest of the three fleets. The majority of action that the Home Fleet sees is in inspecting and interdicting incoming traffic to the planets in system to defend against threats. In times of war, the Home Fleet is the final bulwark that prevents Taldryan's home from being invaded. The Home Fleet, as it consists of mostly Starfighter Commands, is led by Colonel Ark Lassik, commanding from the Cardan III Class Space Station Archanis' Redoubt.
Starfighter Corps
The Taldryan Starfighter Corps is a separate, but embedded entity within the Taldryan Navy. Consisting of its own unique chain of command, it is however always intrinsically linked to the fleet due to their combined purpose, in protecting and dominating the skies. The Starfighter Corps is represented on the Taldryan Strategic Operations Council by Air Marshal TBA.
Command Structure
The Starfighter Corps is divided up into smaller units, starting at Flights (2 wing pairs), Squadrons (3 Flights), and Wings (3 Squadrons). Individual Squadrons are led by Squadron Leaders, and each Wing is commanded by a Wing Commander, who is responsible for the operational orders of each of the Squadrons under his command. On ships that house multiple wings of fighters, an officer will be appointed to the position of CAG (Commander, Air Group), acting as the overall Starfighter Commander for their vessel. The overall operational Command of the entire Starfighter Corps falls to Air General Kayla Norvin. However due to the special nature of the Corps, CAGs will generally report to their ship's Captain, before the Air General.
Wings
- Main article: Taldryan Starfighter Wings
Within Taldryan's Starfighter Corps, the most common operational group is the Starfighter Wing. Generally consisting of three or more Squadrons of fighters, it is commanded by a Wing Commander, who reports to the home ships CAG. Wing Commander's very often do double duty as both an overall group commander, as well as the commander of an individual Squadron.
Though Wings are for the most part based on the Navy's ships, due to the advanced nature of Taldryan's Starfighter Corps many of the Squadrons are capable of executing missions away from their home vessels for days or weeks at a time.
Elite Squadron
- Main article: Hyperion Flight
In the glory days of Clan Taldryan, House Archanis' Elite Squadron, Hyperion Flight won the rights to the only custom starfighter in the Dark Brotherhood, the Hyperion Class Starfighter. Though Archanis is no more, this Squadron still defines the standard for the Taldryan Starfighter Corps. Only the most skilled, and dedicated pilots within Taldryan earn a billet with this Elite Squadron.
Marine Corps
Since the days of ocean bound navies, the Marine has held an important role within armed forces throughout the galaxy. These soldiers are trained primarily in close quarters fighting, the kind that they would face while participating in boarding actions or defending their ships. Though they are nominally an infantry unit, the special link of these marine contingents to their ships means they are stringently, if not stubbornly, navy men.
Command Structure
The Marine Corps is divided up into shipboard units. Each ship contains its own contingent of marines, representative to the size of the vessel that they are tasked with defending. Below you'll see a general guideline for the size of the units per ship class. Each Unit is commanded by the appropriate level officer for their ships, and reports to the ship Captain. The Marine Corps is represented on TalSOC by Captain-General TBA.
