House Reinthaler named after Erich von Reinthaler, was established in 32 ABY following the dissolution of House Cestus, House Gladius, and House Tridens. However, its presence was short-lived after a coup left Tarentum's numbers thin, forcing the house to close in 33 ABY. Its brother house was House Kaerner.
Main Base
Location
Situated in the southern hemisphere of Yridia III near the foot of the secondary mountain range, the Pyramid is a pyramidal unit that once served as Reinthaler's complex at the edge of the densest vegetation. Almost fading into the shadows of the forest, the obsidian building is a menacing yet unobtrusive structure. Formerly the site of an Imperial research outpost, the House base has expanded the former complex, which continually undergoes maintenance from a small detachment of droids due to rapid native growth. One main hangar is operational and pilots wishing to land there must undergo specialized training to navigate the approach corridor through the dense canopy.
Natural defense elements and weather patterns were the primary considerations for the complex’s location. Distant enough from the ever present hurricanes to avoid unnecessary hardship, wedged among mountainous terrain, enveloped by immensely dense forests, and surrounded by apex predators, the complex does not fear ground invasion by conventional means. Although the remoteness is not sufficient enough to avoid detection from a discerning enemy, it is also not so obvious as to attract attention without warrant.
Above Ground
The pyramidal structure contains two floors. Communications equipment and personnel occupy the upper level completely. Amplification devices have been installed due to interference from the planet’s rapidly changing weather patterns.
The lower level is comprised of the central lobby and many additional rooms, which offer logistical support for visiting delegations or returning land-based expeditions. Considerably austere, decorations are only displayed for formal visits at this time.
Below Ground
Beneath the tip of the obsidian iceberg lies four subterranean levels.
Floor B1, accessible by way of a single lift tube, is the security center. Despite the presence of various security personnel around the entirety of the complex, their main site of operations is kept physically separate and serves as the coordinating brain of the units.
Floor B2 is dominated by the main hangar bay. Despite the designation as the second basement, this level is not incredibly far underground. Starships ranging in size from shuttlecraft to corvettes are currently able to be stored within the complex. Larger ships are sent to the Throne World.
Floor B3 is the primary level for Tarentum operations. A central courtyard functions as the main gathering place for House addresses and business involving the majority of the membership. Otherwise, it is a multi-purpose area.
Section B3-East contains the Krath Laboratories, ran and overseen by its director, which focus heavily on native species and their future uses to benefit Tarentum. It also contains the secondary security center, comprised mostly of offices, and low-level conference chambers. The medical facility is also located in this section, connected with the Krath laboratories and inspiration for stories of experiments with “mortally wounded” patients.
Section B3-South comprises barracks for non-Force personnel and Dark Jedi. A weapons cache contains a variety of arms, ranging from training lightsabers to small firearms.
Section B3-North is the location of the Battle Team barracks and also the access route to the restricted area, located one level below. Information concerning the restricted area is closely guarded, as only summits and respected leaders are allowed to enter.
Section B3-West serves as the control center and access point for the battle arena on the lowest level. Additionally, the armory is placed in this section for logistical support of live training exercises as well as the containment of the lowest level should a crisis arise.
Floor B4 is comprised entirely of the battle arena or restricted area, depending upon how one enters it. The battle arena rivals the hangar in sheer size, but serves a very different purpose. Whereas the hangar protects its contents, the arena is a place of destruction: the weakness of training members, captured enemies without value, beasts of entertainment – it matters not.
Battle Teams
- Main article: Black Phoenix
The first battle team to open in House Reinthaler. It was established shortly after the House itself by Severon Vercingetorix. The primary focus of this team was Force use and support of Zurhidon, which acted as the primary infantry of the House. Members of this Battle Team had the highest access to the House laboratories and holocrons. The team was closed in 33 ABY, along with its sister battle team, Zurhidon.
