Validus Nocta was the only current Battle Team of House Caliburnus of Clan Scholae Palatinae. The battleteam is now closed.
Battle-Team History
In 30 ABY, chaos had taken hold of the Souls of Darkness Battleteam. Many of its senior members had left for greener pastures, and the leadership dwindled into obscurity. Those left degraded into nothing more than a well-armed rabble, and displayed little or no real focus during recent engagements, notably against Clans Arcona and Plagueis. The Quaestor of House Caliburnus at the time, Brent Ligur Victae, saw the battleteam as an appendix, and an outdated one at that. The concept that had originally been put forth for Souls of Darkness was tainted and spoiled with needless and unwarranted changes. Souls of Darkness as a concept and a unit needed to be excised from the body of the House.
Brent approached one of the more active members of the House, Jack Okason, who had displayed a keen knowledge of martial matters, as well as an insightful demeanour. The Quaestor spoke at length about the Souls of Darkness and how the original vision had been altered to an unacceptable length. He acknowledged that the concept had been fundamentally flawed, but that flaw at been ripped out and replaced with dozens more.
He pitched his new idea for a team, one which Jack would lead. The men spent many days hammering out the problems and ideas for the new team. Finally, the men had come to an agreement. However, before their plan could be put into practice, Brent was replaced as Quaestor. His replacement, an old Sith by the name of Dakari, was against the ideas at first, believing that the Souls of Darkness could be salvaged in some way, even in its current state.
Jack resisted, and was aided by the Aedile at the time, Scyrone. After many lengthy discussions, the trio finally managed to reach an collective decision: remove the diseased Souls of Darkness, and bring in a new team, with a fresh idea and ideal. The name of this team would be the title of the original concept for Souls of Darkness: Validus Nocta, the Sword of the Night.
The Battleteam was short-lived, however, as House Caliburnus fell under the might of a revolutionary force which swept across Ptolomea, so did Validus Nocta. Its members left for the other Houses, and the name of Validus Nocta disappeared into forgotten tomes and archives.
Concept
- The team is made up of Dark Jedi of excellent martial prowess, tactical understanding and a full and undying loyalty to the House and to the Clan.
- Members are kept anonymous as this might cause undue attention from exterior forces. This attention was not best for a team such as Validus Nocta
- Members are required to wear dark, non-descript clothing, preferably combat related/rated. Any weapon is allowed, as long as the user can use it to its full potential.
- Members are expected to protect the House and the Clan with their sweat and the blood, their lives even.
