Zepar II is an icy comet captured by the gravitational pull of the moon Zepar, which orbits Iblis, under the dominion of Scholae Palatinae, residing in the Cocytus System.

Description

Caught by the intense gravitational forces of the moon Zepar, Zepar II is a large comet formed from ice and rock during the beginnings of the Cocytus solar system. The topography of the comet's surface has never been fulled mapped due to the constant changes of ice and the differing intensities of Imperius' solar radiation.

The inside, however, remains constant, and is mostly formed from iron and barium rich rock. Obsidian in color, the rock resists most laser and ion blasts, with only the most powerful cutting lasers being able to make an impression.

Natural caverns formed by melting ice in the comet's surface have been used by Scholae Palatinae as a prison for some of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood's worst criminals. Both Jedi and normal prisoners are housed here, though the Dark Jedi are kept separate from the population to keep them from forming bands of mindless minions or committing any other destructive acts.

Notable Landmarks

Kavinn Maximum Security Prison

The need for a larger facility outside of the Antei solar system became all too apparent during the recent war against the Jedi Master Omancor Crask when prisoners broke out of the Codei Prison on Antei and ran amok amongst Scholae's legions. A request for a facility location went out to the Clans, and Thran Occasus, the Consul of Scholae Palatinae, answered the call.

Designed by the main military leaders in Scholae Palatinae, Archangel and Dante, the prison is considered a Super Maximum Security facility of the highest order. Spending an entire year building the multi-level complex, the designers employed the newest force field technologies to create cells that, when coupled with the natural strength of Zepar II's rock, prove to be nigh inescapable.

The main complex can house up to 15,000 inmates in high-security vaults of 1,000 in each. There are three other facilities separate from the main complex: the administration offices and guard barracks, the Jedi complex, and the mines.

The administration offices and guard barracks are located near the surface of the comet. This facility is constitutes the offices for the wardens and guards, as well as housing for all the guards, wardens, troops and Dark Jedi. Likewise, a large space port has been installed on the roof for transportation and logistics. Because this port would be an escapee's first destination, it is a part of the enclosure system of the entire complex. Thus, any escapee would have to go through the entire administration area before reaching the space port, giving guards and troops time to find and apprehend them.

The Jedi complex, the deepest of the facilities, is where rogue Dark Jedi and Light Jedi captives are held. Watched over by Imperial Sentinels from the Holocron of Vengeance as well as a group of Dark Jedi wardens, these prisoners are often harshly treated and tortured frequently to keep them demoralized and impeded from a pure connection to the Force.

The mines, located in the midst of the division between ice and rock, are where prisoners are expected to 'exercise'. The majority of the guard population is located here, and maintain strict control over the inmates as they mine the ice and softer, water-worn rock for use on other planets in the Cocytus System.

Outlook

Political

Zepar II is a military installation and prison, and therefore has no political views other than those of the current Emperor.

Military

Head Warden: Kael Fayne

Captain of the Guard: Captain Delius Salaaf

The formal military presence on Zepar II is limited to a platoon of highly trained Marines and a flight of four TIE Fighters. However, the guard and warden complement number over 500 men. These guards, generally considered paramilitary or militia, are well trained and equipped, and prove to be more than a match for most criminals in the prison.

There is, however, a need for a Dark Jedi group to be stationed here, both for quelling the population, and for punishment and interrogation of prisoners. Only the head warden is there by his or her own free will.

Commerce

No commerce is present on Zepar II, as it is a military installation. However, the facility must import its foodstuffs and other necessities in order to function.
