"I want the strength to crush anything that threatens me. That tries to hurt me. I want... power."
Veil Arcana[5]

Veil Arcana was a young, Human Force Disciple bound to the Clan of Naga Sadow. He was banished from his village at a young age for what he believed was a cursed power that brought him nothing but pain. Left to wander the Galaxy as an outcast, he was eventually picked up by a mediocre scoundrel named Cav Vorka. Under Vorka's tutelage, Veil learned the ins and outs of a variety of criminal enterprises, making use of his mysterious powers at the direction of Vorka to help pull off schemes and petty cons to earn credits.

Veil came to learn that the cursed power he had been born with was actually a rare and powerful ability called Force-sensitivity. During a heist gone wrong, he was betrayed by Cav Vorka and had his first encounter with another Force-sensitive that resulted in his entire gang being annihilated. The Brotherhood's Inquisitor gave Veil a choice: hunt down and kill his former mentor, or die like the others. Veil made his choice and was rewarded with an induction into the Brotherhood as an Initiate.

During a life or death struggle on the shattered world of Jedha, Veil finally came to terms with the power within himself and put aside the traumatic events of his past. By harnessing his latent Force-potential, and his own unique style of combat, Veil managed to triumph in battle over a powerful member of the Children of Mortis, defeat his rival Dark Jedi, and complete his first official mission for the Clan. He returned from Jedha and was rewarded with Knighthood by his Consul and Proconsul. At last, Veil began walking path of the Force Disciple.

Biography

Early Life (27 to 37 ABY)

"Monster! There's something wrong with you. Something evil!"
―Horace Arcana, exiling his ten year old son, Veil

Veil Arcana was the third-born child of Horace and Syl Arcana, farmers from a small village in the wetlands on the planet Sorgan. Born in 27 ABY, he had two older brothers and younger sister. The Arcana family belonged to a small, closely knit tribe of predominantly Humans that lived far on the outskirts of civilization. Apart from the rare run-in with smugglers and raiders, the village was a quiet, peaceful, and isolated place to grow up.

Sorgan

As a child, Veil began to help work around the farm, completing simple tasks and chores alongside his brothers. It was around this time, that he began to experience strange and often unexplainable abnormalities in both body and mind. He would often speak about things he should have no way of knowing, or react faster to events even faster than the adults. His family were the first to notice these oddities and they attempted to keep them hidden from the rest of the village by separating Veil from the public eye. Oftentimes, when playing with his siblings and the other children, when games of physical prowess became intense, he would demonstrate feats of speed or strength far beyond the capabilities of a young boy.

Over time as he grew, these abnormalities became more prevalent and more talked about among the villagers. Whispers would soon begin to follow Veil wherever he went in the village as a growing sense of unease and distaste began to be aimed toward him. In 37 ABY, after years of unexplainable incidents, Veil became completely isolated from the rest of the village, the only one still willing to spend time with him being his younger sister. Even his older siblings began to distance themselves from him, while his parents became distressed by how the family was being shunned because of their youngest son.

Unnamed village on Sorgan

Eventually, the village came to fear the strange powers Veil possessed as a malevolent curse. After experiencing a series of horrific, highly-realistic nightmares in which he saw the village engulfed in flames and death, Veil tried to warn the adults about the impending danger he had foreseen. Warded off as a demonic creature, his warnings went unheeded. Not long after, the village was assaulted by a particularly vicious raid. The raiders broke through the villager's defenses easily and stormed into their homes to pillage, kill, and kidnap. One raider broke into the Arcana house and injured Veil's oldest brother in attempt to kidnap his younger sister who had been savagely knocked unconscious. Veil picked up his brother's fallen weapon and attacked the raider. With preternatural speed and a seemingly prophetic sense of timing, he managed to avoid killing blow after killing blow and ended up striking the raider so hard the large man was sent flying through the wall of the house dead.

After the raiders disappeared with their spoils the villagers banded together to put out fires, heal the wounded, and gather the dead. The devastation wrought was nearly crippling to the small village, but instead of focusing their rage towards the raiders, all their vitriol was aimed towards Veil. Instead of lamenting the fact they had ignored his warnings, they blamed his accursed existence for bringing destruction to their village. His incomprehensible words and actions, his uncanny predictions, and his ability to kill a full-grown raider—everything they had ever feared about him came to a head and the mob of villagers finally turned against him. Veil's father led the charge saying there was something wrong with him. That he was something evil. A monster. Together, his father and the villagers banished the ten year old Veil, exiling from the village for the rest of his life.

Outcast (37 to 42 ABY)

No Place to Call Home

"Come with me, kid. I'll teach you how to live!"
Cav Vorka to a young Veil Arcana[1]
Ord Mantell

Exiled from the only home he had ever known, the young Veil was forced to survive on his own as he traveled the harsh wetlands of Sorgan. Despite cursing his strange powers, he was forced to rely on them to avoid the dangers of man and beast. Eventually, his aimless wanderings led him to a small settlement, which included a common house that served as a hub for visitors to the planet. There, the proprietress took pity on his situation and, sensing he was barely clinging to life, put in a word with a group of smugglers she trusted to take him off world. She told Veil that leaving Sorgan and experiencing a more civilized world would be good for him. Fortune favored him for once, and the smugglers agreed to take him on in exchange for running errands and doing chores for them. Their destination was the planet Ord Mantell in the Mid Rim, a beacon of civilization in comparison to Sorgan.

After being awed by his first experience aboard a starship, Veil was completely overwhelmed by the industrial world and its towering buildings, vast junkyard fields, and immense population. The change from the small village he had lived his whole life was incredibly jarring, as was the swell of information that crushed his highly-attuned senses. With no experience with life outside the swamps, Veil stuck close to his new smuggler comrades whom had warmed up to him during the trip and saw him as a serviceable grunt to have around. Veil eagerly helped the smugglers with their business, hoping to ingratiate himself to the first group of people who didn't treat him with suspicion and naked hostility.

But the Galaxy once more seemed determined to crush all hope from him. Veil accompanied the smugglers to an exchange, helping to move cargo via gravsled to earn his keep. As the exchange took place, a sense of dread once more informed him of impending danger.

Cav Vorka

Unable to interrupt the meeting, and unwilling to risk being seen as an accursed existence, the young Veil sought a place to hide only moments before a group of heavily armed and armored bounty hunters arrived to assault the exchange. The sounds of battle and screams of death frightened Veil has he remained hidden, simply praying for it to all end. A long time after the sound of the last blaster faded, he crept from his hiding place only to discover that the smugglers and their buyers had been massacred.[1]

Once more, Veil found himself alone—this time on an unfamiliar world that seemed to be teeming with dangers. Forcing himself to move, he scavenged through what remained of the gear and equipment the smugglers had until he came across a container he felt an uncomfortably familiar pull from. Within the container was a weapon, a cylindrical hilt that emitted a glowing beam of energy so fierce it took his breath away. Veil looted the weapon then fled the site.[1]

Without a guardian or a real understanding of the planet he found himself lost on, Veil wandered the streets aimlessly. To survive, he copied other children he saw—street urchins—who lived by stealing and begging. His dark powers came in handy once again, as he used them to manipulate his own presence and safely secure food from the vast amount of market stalls. He even managed to find shelter from the elements by seeking a place bereft of lifeforms. But the use of his power didn't go unnoticed. One day after another successful hunt for food, Veil returned to his hideout only to be accosted by a terrifying-looking alien. The man was a Weequay named Cav Vorka who offered to teach Veil how to live.

Lessons In Scum and Villainy

"That power of yours ain't meant for scams and schemes."
"I learned a lot from you."
"But not how to be greedy.
"
―Cav Vorka and Veil Arcana talking about parting ways[5]

Vorka made good on his promise and taught Veil the ins and outs of the seamy underbelly of the criminal world. Veil soaked up every scrap of knowledge he could, learning more about the Galaxy at large, the highs and lows of society, and how to pick and choose a mark. He learned that the best way to live life was to take it easy and to follow the path of least resistance when it came to moral quandaries. Vorka taught Veil how to be a small-time crook and scoundrel. After a crash-course in minor thuggery, the pair departed Ord Mantell for greener pastures—Nar Shaddaa.

It was there that Veil was encouraged to make greater use of his powers. Vorka instructed him on ways to manipulate people and events in their favor, earning some quick credits by reading the emotions of opponents in high-stake gambling dens and altering the rolls of dice in games of chance.

View of Nar Shaddaa

Together, Veil and Vorka swindled the elite of Nar Shaddaa and began to live it up on their crooked credits. Vorka taught Veil how to enjoy the finer things in life.[1] Of course, their streak of luck couldn't last forever. The targets they'd scammed eventually sent their personal guards to hunt the duo down. For the first time in his life, Veil drew the old lightsaber he'd discovered for proper combat, utilizing the powerful blade to clear a path for their escape.

Vorka ended up using their stockpile of credits to book an emergency shuttle off planet to avoid getting tied up by security. Deciding it was time to expand their operation, Vorka began recruiting members to his unfortunately-named Vorka Gang. He even began to teach Veil some simple blade work to improve his lightsaber-wielding skills. Veil enjoyed the various escapades the gang got up to, from the dizzying highs to the crushing lows, ever adding to his knowledge and skills. But, as with every other part of his life, the good times were short-lived. After a string of failures, the Vorka Gang lost all of its credibility, which was further compounded by their leader's violent and rash temper. Eventually, the members of the gang decided to call it quits. Veil, too, felt he had learned as much as he could from Cav Vorka and came to realize he wanted more out of life than just being a petty crook.[5]

The Price of Avarice

"Sorry, kid, but I know exactly what you're capable of!"
"You don't know
everything I can do."
―Cav Vorka taunts Veil Arcana moments before his death[5]

When Veil and the others gathered to inform Vorka of their decision to abandon the gang, their leader was obviously shaken. Veil was forced to defend a member of the gang from Vorka's wrath, only to get injured instead. This helped to calm Vorka down and he apologized. Understanding that they could no longer continue as they had been, Vorka suggests one last scheme for a mysterious new client that was guaranteed to pay them well.[5]

Veil, using his burgeoning stealth skills, led the infiltration. By utilizing his ability to conceal his presence and sense the locations of others, he and the team managed to successfully navigate the compound and recover the relic requested by their client. For once, in a long time, they had pulled off a heist successfully. Still, Veil wasn't surprised when Vorka announced a plan to double-cross their client and liquidate the relic themselves, potentially increasing their take several-fold.[5]

Na'ala Shen confronts Veil and Cav Vorka

The rest of the gang agreed unanimously, and Veil was dragged along by Vorka to meet with the client's representative not far from their headquarters on Nar Shaddaa. It was there he met Na'ala Shen—a Dathomirian Knight of the Children of Mortis. She immediately saw through their lies and threatened the pair, igniting her lightsaber. For the first time, Veil had met a being that was similar to himself. When he called on his power and drew his own lightsaber, Shen was shocked to discover a masterless Force-sensitive wandering the Galaxy. It was the first time Veil had heard the term. Shen offered Veil a chance to abandon Vorka and join the Children of Mortis. He refused and the two dueled, but the difference between a trained and untrained Force-sensitive was like night and day. Shen drove Veil back with ease, but was forced into retreat by Vorka's well-timed toss of a grenade.[5]

Veil and Vorka fled the scene and returned to their hideout to report their failure to the rest of the team. However, Vorka assured the others (who had already begun to celebrate) that he'd be able to easily sell the relic. He told them to relax and continue to party while he dealt with some stuff. Veil watched him go with a sense of unease. Once more, his powers—his connection to the Force—was telling him something terrifying approached.[5]

Their hideout was attacked by a powerful explosive. A band of mercenaries invaded, firing upon the half-drunk gang before they could react. Veil was the first to counterattack, slicing through the lead mercenaries' armor with terrifying ease. But the onslaught was overwhelming, and he was slowly pushed back and forced to defend. Despite the chaos, Vorka didn't appear and the gang dug in to repel the invaders. Fate had other plans. A terrible malevolence approached, crushing Veil with the sheer malice he could sense. A man appeared wearing black, form-fitting body armor, hidden behind a long, black cloak. The man ignited his crimson lightsaber and unleashed utter hell on mercenary and gang member alike.[5]

Forced to flee, Veil was practically dragged away as their hideout became the site of a massacre. He and one other survivor made it through a secret passage to the hangar bay, only to discover the shuttle—and Cav Vorka—were gone. He'd betrayed the gang to their deaths. The monster in black, having dealt with the others, appeared from the secret passage and struck down the final gang member who had taken a stand to protect Veil. Veil drew his own lightsaber and tried to attack, but was grabbed by the wrists and lifted helplessly into the air by his opponent's sheer strength.[5]

Mysterious Inquisitor

Veil was tossed aside as he cursed Vorka for betraying them. Believing he was going to die, Veil was surprised when the monster spoke, giving him a chance at life. All he had to do was help the monster track down Cav Vorka... and kill him. Veil, consumed with rage and fear, agreed to the man's terms and the pair set off to hunt Vorka and the relic down.[5]

Upon arriving at Vorka's hideout, the monster let Veil take the lead. Drawing his weapon, Veil launched his assault on Vorka. He parried the low-powered bolts of a holdout blaster instinctively, then slashed through the gun. Vorka, believing he knew the limits of Veil's abilities was cocky, drawing on a hidden vibroshiv in an attempt to slice Veil's neck before he could raise his blade to defend. But, Veil created a Barrier, blocking the attack, then thrust his own blade through Vorka's chest. In the aftermath of the battle, the monster entered and recovered the relic he'd been searching for. Pleased with Veil's accomplishments, the monster offered a boon—the chance to join The Brotherhood.[5]

Force Disciple (42 ABY)

The Shadow Academy

"Then I welcome you, Initiate. To the Brotherhood!"
―Monstrous, cloaked High Inquisitor, recruiting Veil Arcana[5]
The Shadow Academy

Following his recruitment, Veil was sent alone to Arx, the seat of power for the Brotherhood. There he was introduced to the Shadow Academy, a massive facility for the training of new members and a repository of knowledge housed safely within the archives. Amongst a handful of other Initiates, Veil took his first Trial—the Trial of Identity.[6] He was able to prove his sensitivity to the Force through a variety of simple tasks and joined the Order of Force Disciples as he felt ambivalent towards the narrow-minded preaching of the Jedi Code and the utter malevolence of the Sith doctrines. Despite the hardships he had faced, he committed himself to a neutral path to power.[4]

Upon completing his first Trial, Veil was bound to the Clan of Naga Sadow, followers of the ancient Sith Lord, Naga Sadow. Before joining his new brethren, though, Veil had to endure the rigorous Trials of the Shadow Academy to prove he had the power and ability to not only survive in the Brotherhood, but to excel. Having spent much of his early life cursing his gifts, and the latter half using them for petty criminal activities, Veil found himself falling far behind the other Apprentices taking the Trials with him. Doubt began to eat away at him. He was younger, smaller, and weaker than most of the other Apprentices and struggled to manifest his powers in a meaningful way since killing Cav Vorka.

The Temple of Sorrow on Sepros

Due to his incredibly humble and rural upbringing, and the horrific events that led to his induction, Veil found it difficult to interact with the others. He had once again become an outcast. It wasn't until he began combat training classes that he formed a bond with another student, a senior Force Disciple named Nyla Chambers. Nyla took the—unnecessary to Veil's mind—role of an annoying older sister, helping to guide him through his difficult early days on Arx.[1] Slowly he began to make progress, often completing Trials by the skin of his teeth, but he was moving forward. Other students were not so indulgent of the young Veil. A powerful Sith Acolyte named Jaeger Drell made it his personal mission to taunt and harass Veil at every opportunity. Like Veil, Drell was also promised to Clan Naga Sadow, and the two formed a heated rivalry that drove them to further and further lengths to get the better of one another.[7]

Mission to the Shattered World

"I want you to experience a world shattered; a world that, even in death, has a strong connection to the Force. I believe you may find a key to unlocking your potential there."
―Instructor Dale Morlan to Veil Arcana[7]

Months after joining the Shadow Academy, Veil finally managed to complete his Apprentice Trials and was finally sent to join his Clanmates on Sepros, the heart of Clan Naga Sadow's dominion hidden deep within Sith Space. The transition proved to be as difficult for him as the one from pirate to Initiate. Drell, who had advanced ahead of him, had already spread rumors about his lack of ability and Veil took to keeping his distance from the rest of the Clan. The only time he mingled with others was during the special training for Force-sensitive Journeymen in the training halls of the Temple of Sorrow.

Veil training under the tutelage of Dale Morlan

This special training was conducted by a semi-retired Elder, Instructor Dale Morlan. Veil continued to struggle connecting with the Force and received a great deal of guidance from Instructor Morlan. It was also during this time that Veil became well-acquainted with a medical droid attached to the training hall, T0-T0, due the number of wounds he accumulated during sparring. Frustrated by his lack of results, Veil grew more and more isolated, taking to training late into the night when the rest of the Clan had retired for the night. He continued to push himself in secret, not realizing he had drawn the watchful eyes of his Consul and Proconsul who, unbeknownst to Veil, had commanded Instructor Morlan to constantly increase the difficulty of his training without letting him know.

A chance to test his fledgling abilities on the battlefield came when the Brotherhood received intelligence about the remnants of the Children of Mortis, a dangerous foe the Clans had fought in the what become known as the Sixteenth Great Jedi War. Despite his misgivings over his own lack of talent, Veil was instructed to join the rest of the members of Naga Sadow and head to the shattered world, Jedha to help confront the Children of Mortis.

Cursed again with his abysmal luck, Veil was assigned to a party with Jaeger Drell and a detachment of soldiers from Echo Squad. They were given the objective to locate a mysterious artifact in the Ruins of Cadera. En route to the mission location, Drell assaulted Veil, forcing him to abandon the shuttle midair. Seemingly guided by the Force, Veil free-felled only to land in the shuttle of an enemy force of scavengers. Reacting instinctively, Veil crushed the enemy with a combination of martial, mystical, and lightsaber prowess that shocked even himself. Despite overcoming this trial, Drell's ship targeted the scavenger vessel and blew it out of the sky.

Veil finds an entrance to the Ruins of Cadera

Veil survived the crash, making use of the scavenger pilot's body to cushion his fall to the earth below. Vowing to complete the mission and avenge himself on Drell, Veil liberated a speeder bike from the scavengers and chased after Drell and Echo Squad. When he finally caught up to them late in the night, he discovered their base camp had been overwhelmed by an enemy attack. The soldiers left behind to serve as guards had been brutally struck down by the blade of a lightsaber. Realizing the foe he might soon face could be a Child of Mortis, Veil mentally prepared himself for a fight unlike any he had faced before.

Following the trail into the ruined catacombs of Cadera, Veil hatched a plan to make use of his specific talents, rather than brute force, to win the battle and complete the mission. Coming upon Drell, who was locked in deadly combat with a more powerful foe, Veil cloaked himself in darkness and manipulated the battle from the shadows. Eventually, he maneuvered the duelists into a vulnerable position and attached a set of flash grenades to Drell's belt that exploded with enough force to serious debilitate both Drell and the Child of Mortis. Veil used this opportunity to strike, slaying the Child of Mortis and knocking Drell unconscious. Along with the surviving members of Echo Squad, Veil retrieved the mysterious artifact and Drell, and returned to the forward camp held by Naga Sadow.

A Knight Rises

"You have been judged... and found worthy."
Lord Darkhawk Sadow, bestowing Veil Arcana the rank of Knight[8]

Lightly wounded, but having completed his mission successfully, Veil was sent ahead back to Sepros with the other wounded. Instructor Morlan had been correct, and the life-or-death struggle on Jedha had properly awakened Veil's full connection to the Force. Given a clean bill of health, Veil immediately continued with his training.

Veil dueling with Jaeger Drell

Before the rest of the Clan returned, however, Veil was accosted by Jaeger Drell in the training halls. Humiliated by Veil, Drell succumbed to his rage and attacked Veil with his armory lightsaber, not the training lightsaber they usually dueled with. He attacked with a ferocity neither had shown during their previous spars. Veil took on Drell's raw strength with a desperate tenacity, using every part of the dueling arena and every trick he knew to keep Drell's blade from his flesh. By launching a surprise attack using the hall's advanced training droids to distract Drell, Veil managed to force Drell into submission by cutting off his dominant arm. Declaring the duel over, Veil withdrew only for Drell to tackle him into a wall. The fight was suddenly interrupted by Instructor Morlan, whom neither had sensed. Morlan separated the two, sending Drell back to medical to treat his wounds, and informed Veil that he had been summoned by the recently returned Clan Summit.[7]

Filled with trepidation, Veil walked through the reconstructed halls of the Temple of Sorrow towards the Audience Chamber. Within, he came face-to-face with his Consul, Darkhawk Sadow and Proconsul, Muz Ashen. Fearing he was to be punished for the unsanctioned duel, Veil was surprised to find himself a part of an ancient ceremony. The Lords of Sadow declared him worthy of the rank of Knight. After months of pitiful struggles and relentless self-doubt, Veil had finally taken his next big step forward as a Force Disciple.[7]

Physical Description

"Hah! No matter how I look at you, all I see is a stupid, little scurrier."
―Jaeger Drell, mocking Veil's slim build[9]
Veil in the midst of combat

Thoroughly average in both height and weight, Veil Arcana was, to his mind, cursed with a small build unsuitable for the rigors of martial combat. He was slim and had only started to develop a bit of muscle after joining the Brotherhood and training daily. A lifetime spent fleeing from danger had given him a lithe figure, more naturally suited to running and acrobatics rather than feats of strength. He often hunched his shoulders when in uncomfortable or awkward situations, though when immersed in his connection to the Force he tended to take on a more graceful, balanced posture. Veil favored his right side, wielding his lightsaber in his right hand and leaning more heavily on his right leg. His hands, like the rest of him, were small, though relatively dexterous.[2]

Veil believed he had rather plain features, though others might not have agreed with that. He had a small, oval face and narrow pointed chin. He possessed sharp cheekbones, a straight nose and a thin, narrow mouth. His cheeks were completely smooth, nary a wisp of scruff showing on his pubescent face. His black, medium-length hair was messy and naturally layered to cascade down the sides of his head and just graze the back of his neck. He often brushed his long, spiking bangs to hang over his eyes. Despite the rest of his unassuming features, Veil had an intense gaze. His gray, almost silvery eyes were incredibly expressive, whether he was projecting wide-eyed fear or a sharp, piercing glare.[2]

Despite his strict training regiment, and his early adventures in piracy and smuggling, Veil had little visible scarring to show off as proof of the hardships he had endured. His fair skin remained relatively unblemished due to a combination of an overly protective gang member and, later, a liberal use of the Brotherhood's top-notch medical facilities. The only demarcation from this were his tattoos. Veil's back was Force-imbued with the tattoos of the Inquisitorius, although these remained invisible to the naked eye under most circumstances.[4] Veil also acquired a set of alchemically rendered tattoos on both forearms, depicted as interlocking tribal cuffs. The cuffs represented the ancient Sith ritual used by Bentre Sadow to bind an ancient spirit to Veil's flesh. The tattoos were usually a faintly luminescent silver color, but turned crimson when the spirit actively struggled against its bonds.[9]

Personality and Traits

Veil's life had been a series of betrayals before he joined the Brotherhood, which left him with a deep-seated distrust of others.[5] Unable to bring himself to offer trust, he tended to isolate himself even from members of his own Clan. He preferred to work and train alone even when it put him at odds with his peers. Throughout the many Trials he faced, Veil developed a strong resolve and determination to overcome any challenge he encountered with his own ingenuity and sheer force of will.

Before he was inducted into the Brotherhood, Veil often found himself at the mercy of cruel and unfeeling twists of fate. In the depths of despair rose an irresolute goal for himself: survival. When chance delivered him into the arms of the Brotherhood, Veil vowed to survive the tyrannies of the Galaxy at any cost. His goal was to gain power strong enough to overcome the relentlessly crushing absurdities of life.[5]

After growing more comfortable in his new home, Veil's affected subservience faded to reveal his real personality. Sarcastic and a little unruly, Veil was a teenager and, like most, was consumed by teenage angst. He often talked back to those he should treat as his betters, or made snide, pointed comments about others when he felt they were acting stupidly. Though some measure of self-preservation allowed him to respectfully, if not completely obediently, deal with his direct superiors. Despite his prickly demeanor, Veil often dealt with overwhelming self-doubt. He took to brooding in isolation, taking to hiding in the depths of the Temple of Sorrow that few chose to explore.[9]

Powers and Abilities

Veil's connection to the Force manifested at an early age. However, because he grew up in a simple farming village far from civilized space, his power was viewed as a cursed, wicked thing. Veil grew up hating the power within him and forcibly tried to suppress it. Unfortunately, this caused his power to manifest in surprising and, often, inconvenient ways.[1]

Like other Force-sensitives, the young Veil's senses were sharp, sometimes overwhelmingly so. He could react to stimuli faster than the adults around him, and could pick up on the muted reflections of people's emotions. As he grew, this power increased, becoming a painful debilitation he couldn't properly control. At Cav Vorka's suggestion, Veil started to hone his power in order to manipulate marks and alter odds in their favor. Regularly using his power began to ease Veil's trepidation towards them somewhat.

After he joined the Brotherhood, Veil received extensive training in proper lightsaber Forms and in wielding the Force. He was regularly made to spar with more advanced students and slowly began to develop his latent abilities. Though his martial skills were middling at best, Veil made up for them with his quick wit and reaction time. During the events on Jedha, Veil finally connected properly with the Force and unlocked his full potential allowing him to more easily wield his power as he wanted, which further increased his capabilities.[7]

Veil preferred indirect methods of attack, utilizing the entire battlefield and his talent for cloaking himself in the Force to stealthily engage opponents or throw them off-balance by appearing and reappearing throughout the fight. In combination with his heightened senses and precognitive powers, Veil cobbled together a style of combat that suited his unique strengths. He continued to train diligently in this style as he sought to master the Shadow Discipline and become a peerless assassin.[2]
