DJBWiki:Featured article

From Wikipedia of the Dark Brotherhood, an online Star Wars Club

The featured articles of the wiki are articles that represent the best DJBWiki has to offer. This is not a way to showcase the articles of your favorite characters, spaceships, or the like.

So just what makes a featured article? Well, we've prepared a list just in case someone should ask that, and it is as follows.

An article must…

  1. …be well written and detailed
  2. …be unbiased, non-point of view
  3. …not be the object of any ongoing edit wars
  4. …not be tagged with any sort of improvement tags (i.e. more sources, expand, etc)
  5. …have a succinct proper lead that can be used for the front page featured box
  6. …have a reasonable amount of red links; use common sense
  7. …have a complete, detailed biography if it's a character article
  8. …not have been previously featured

For more information on what makes a featured article, see Wikipedia:What is a featured article.

How to nominate:

  1. First, nominate an article you find is worthy of featured status, putting it at the bottom of the list below; see criteria above.
  2. Others will object to the nomination if they disagree that the article is good enough; they will then supply reasons for doing so, and ways to improve the article (errors, style, organization, images, notability, sources).
  3. Supporters adjust the article until the objectors (with reasonable objections) are satisfied.
  4. The article is placed on the featured article list and added to the front page queue.
  5. Also, if, at least a week after the article's nomination, that article has 5 supports and no objections, it will be added the queue, and will be officially known as a "featured article".

How to vote:

  1. Before doing anything, be sure to read the article completely, keeping a sharp eye out for mistakes.
  2. Afterwards, compare the article to the criteria listed above, and then either support or object the article's nomination.
    1. If you object, please supply concrete reasons for doing so, and how it can be improved.
  3. As stated above, any objections will be looked upon by the nominator, supporters, and anyone willing to improve the article, and action will be taken to please the objectors.
  4. Once all objectors' complaints have been solved (or the article has 5 supports and no objections after at least a week), the article will be added to the queue and be officially known as a "featured article".

Also remember to add {{nominated}} at the top of the article you are nominating.

Every Sunday the next article in the queue will be highlighted on the Main Page as featured, marked with the {{featured}} template and removed from the list of nominations. The beginning of the article then appears on the Main Page via the {{featured article}} template. Nominees that are inactive for a month will be eliminated from the nominations list.

Aabsdu di Plagia Dupar al'Tor

Nominated by --Tron 17:35, 13 February 2007 (Mountain Standard Time)

  • Weak Support - Vladimir 09:12, 27 February 2007 (MST)
  • Weak Support - Macron- needs a lead pic- 23;56, 7 mar 07 (EST)
  • Weak Support - Without a character pic it's just not "complete" 21:14, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
  • Support - Solid article. Image unnecessary to visualize the detail given. - Oberst 00:54, 28 March 2007 (MDT)
    • Needs a pic. It's a requirement for Featured Articles. 16:06, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
    • Pic is being made, at least so I'm told. In case anyone cares. Btw, thanks for the compliment Oberst, heh Aabs 20:18, 11 April 2007 (MDT)

Drodik Va'lence al'Tor

Nominated by --Drodik 07:21, 20 February 2007 (Central Standard Time)

  • Weak Support - Vladimir 09:17, 27 February 2007 (MST)
  • Support - Nice article and an interesting read, but could do with fleshing out at the end as it sort of trails off - Kieran 22:17, 16 April 2007 (GMT)

Sith Alchemy

Nominated by--Macron 11:06, 06 March 2007 (EST)

House Exar Kun

Nominated by -- Dismal Visutor al'Tor 20:35, 19 March 2007 (EST)

  • Weak Oppose (This article would benefit greatly from the addition of images to accompany the text). - Vladimir 07:25, 22 March 2007 (MDT)

Kieran Kodiak Falor

Nominated by Kieran 22:00, 27 March 2007 (GMT)

  • Weak Oppose There are no force sensitive Mandalorians. Also you used an image of a Gil Hibben (copyrighted design) blade for a vibroblade and a tazer gun for some kind of blaster. -- Shin'ichi Endymiron Keibatsu 22:39, 29 March 2007 (EST)
    • Fix The Vibroblade image has been removed and shall be replaced with a more appropriate one (please forgive the infringement as I was unaware of that), yes it is a tazer, however it is documented that the blaster in question are usually modified by the owner thus I thought it was an appropriate image, Mandalorians typically adopt orphans into their clans and thus the possibility of there being force sensative Mandalorians has yet to be disproved in the SW Universe, and since the only race that cannot be force sensative are the Yuuzhan Vong your comment is unfounded. -- Kieran 09:04, 2 April 2007 (GMT)
  • Strong Support A article full of detail and interesting to read. Also there is no information anywhere to my knowledge which stipulates that "Mandalorians" cannot be Force sensitive, as previously mentioned they readily adopt into their culture. Plus most of them are base line humans anyway. Welshman
  • Support – The article is detailed, easy to read and has interesting illustrations. Also just to reiterate what Welshman said, most Mandalorians are baseline humans and there is no cannon (movie or EU) that I am aware of that supports Mr. Shin'ichi’s statement ~ Etah
  • Support – This article is rich with information and pictures of the character's background and history, great to look at and an intresting read. -=Juda=-
  • Support - Abundant information, excellent use of images, and overall good content give this article my vote. Hel-Pa Sklib 22:00, 15 April 2007 (MDT)

Braecen Kunar

Nominated by Yadar 5:37 PM EST, 5 April 2007

  • Oppose Missing picture, character history still in progress -- RevengeX Palpatine 16:30, 5 April 2007 (MDT)
  • Oppose (No pics whatsoever, article not even complete) -- Vladimir 16:46, 6 April 2007 (MDT)

Xayun Erinos

Nominated by Welshman 11.21, 11th of April 2007

  • Support - Juda
  • Support - Karel-- A well written article.
  • Support - Archean
  • Support - This would stand as a really good textual example of concise writing in both the fiction and non-fiction form. Through judicious word usage, you learn more about the character than you do through an overly effusive and flowery use of language (e.g. Hemmingway, Rich, Proulx). - Oberst 11:55, 11 April 2007 (MDT)
  • Support - While small compared to other featured articles it is by no means less worthy, written in such a manner that allows the reader to mentally picture and understand the character, big props! Kieran
  • Support - Concise and well written, and to the point. I say feature. Timeros
  • Support - I wouldn't have nominated this article if I did not think it worthy of being a featured article. Whilst the article isn't huge like some others you get exactly what you want to know. Isn't that the point of a wiki? Welsh
  • Support - Malidir-- A truly well done piece of work, that reminds us all of where we come from, while hinting at where we are going in the future. Splendid!
  • Strong Opposition - Kaine Mandaala-- The article does not adhere to the standards of what is expected in a Featured Article. Unless it's cleaned up I have to veto this one despite it's support. Nominate articles based on their content and formatting, not their subject. Support listed above Oberst is not really supportive either.
    • Article has been updated, though I still say previous support wasn't very helpful. Because you think someone is cool isn't grounds for nomination. -- KM
      • I find it ironic you write that here...when almost all 'support' here (including for articles already up and in the queue for featuring) is exactly that. -Timeros
        • Other than StormRaven I don't see any others who are in support with things like "(person) is awesome!!!". I want people to put more thought into their actions but this is not the place for a discussion on the matter. -- KM
          • Understood. I've started a discussion in the Talk page. -Timeros
  • Weak Oppose - Just don't really like it. Doesn't seem detailed enough. That's just my opinion. Aabs 20:24, 11 April 2007 (MDT)

Sashar
