Who We Are

The d'Tana Family has its roots in Clan Arcona, but has since flourished into multiple Clans across the Brotherhood. Built up in the manner of a criminal organization, the members are those who crave profits, adventure, and generally upsetting the system. Despite all of this, there are few who are as loyal to the Brotherhood as those who bear the name d'Tana. Started by the venerable, and retired, Voranyen d'Tana, the Family has never portrayed itself as particularly 'honorable' or 'trustworthy' in matters that don't involve credits or political gain.

With a diverse membership, the d'Tana Family covers aspects of drug running, weapons and starship manufacturing, and have dabbled quite a bit in slave trading. Assassination and Bounty Hunting are the chosen professions of several Family members, while politics and espionage are the trade of others. All who are named d'Tana know that they can trust no one, except each other. The Family has organized it self in a rather traditional way, the youngest and most inexperienced at the bottom despite standing within the Brotherhood.

Originally Voranyen lead the Family as the Boss, a Godfather like position of power, and his original recruits, the Three Brothers, Alex, Gavin, and Koskian were his Underbosses. This power structure still stands, though with out the Boss himself, who has long since retired. The Underbosses are in a silent competition with each other for power, to see who should lead the Family now. Beneath the Underbosses are the Capos, members who have responsibility over certain Family operations. Most of these have aligned themselves behind a chosen Underboss to add to the power base.

Some of the Capos have announced their own choices, others remain silent, but still doing what they can for their chosen liege.

What We Do

Originally the d'Tana Family focused on illicit activities to benefit House Galeres and Clan Arcona in general. Over time it became apparent that no one would miss a few thousand credits a month, garnished from the spice mining operations that the Family oversaw, organized, and basically started for the Clan.

As political and financial power grew for the Family, and they expanded their membership, they expanded operations. With Dahl Plating, a starship building company based off Nar Shadda and Nal Hutta, and Prefect Arms, another company focused on weapons production on Nar Shadda, they diversified the income of the Family. Dessrx Services has further ingrained the Family into the underworld, offering 'solutions' for 'problems' regarding information handling, acquisition, and possible target elimination.

One of the more public operations is the Ozrei Destructive Applications Company, or ODAC, which has recruited a strong following of mercenaries and bounty hunters who've signed substantial contracts with the Family. Maurier Security Services handles all the security for the Family businesses, and is the only real common factor linking the companies. Santhe Mining has control over an impressive number of mining worlds and locations, as well as refineries and facilities for processing ore into metals to be used in construction.

Olkyssagh Shipping and Transport moves the materials of all three manufacturing companies within the Family operations. With all of these businesses based off of Coronada Station in the Charros IV system, it can be more legitimately explained as to why they partner in so many ways, as it's simply convenient. The Underbosses directly control the drug trade portion of the Family still, not trusting even their loyal Capos with such an important portion of income.

The Family Recruiting Policy

A potential d'Tana is told simply to "dress up" or "get dressed." He or she is taken to a private place and seated at a long table, right next to the lord. Other d'Tana Mafia members who are present will join in and recite oaths and promises of loyalty. The inductee must then hold a burning piece of paper as a simple of burning away all other things that . In the d'Tana family, the new member is paired with a more experienced Mafia member who will act as his guide to lead him into Mafia life. The inductee must Vow that he will be a member of the family for life, and then a drop of blood is drawn from his trigger finger. The prospective member must also show a penchant for making money or at the very least a willingness to commit acts of violence when ordered to. Usually, the new d'Tana must pass a test before he will be considered for full induction, and this test is commonly rumored to be some sort of participation in an act of deception or violence.

The Process

  • For a new member to join the family there must be a personal invitation issued to the one who is being considered.
  • The one being considered can not be below the rank of Knight
  • A Request from an individual to join the family will automatically be denizzled; no questions asked.
  • Along with the recommendation from a family member, the one being considered must have passed in a short 'application' letter stating what they are going to bring to the family.
  • There must be a vote held after the recommendation has been made - and the ultimate result is determined by the family consensus.
  • There must be a degree of personal friendship and interaction between the majority of the current members and the one being considered.
  • There must be a waiting period of at least eight (8) weeks from the time the invitation was accepted and the person being considered takes the d'Tana name to give a chance for the current members who might not know this 'recruit' to get to know them better before the next step.
  • After the person being considered has taken on the family name, there must be another 4 weeks trial period to make sure the person who joined is going to stick around and contribute to the life of the family. If they do not, they will be removed, no questions asked.
  • All requirements are subject to change.
