Tana Incorporated

History

Tana Inc. was born from the decisions of the Tura and the efforts of the Torchbearers and was done to secure the future of the family and its endeavors both legal and illegal. After Coronada Station was destroyed by the Vong and all the Garconian spice veins dried up as a result of Vongforming, the Consortium was left with no income, no assets and deeply in debt. Teru Alex d'Tana made the decision to dissolve the Tana Consortium, a move supported by Psyko and the Tura. With the dissolution of the Consortium itself, came the dissolution of the Consortium’s affiliates.

In the end the dissolution of the affiliate companies was sort of a backhanded blessing. It was hard to see some of the families most cherished names evaporate into nothingness but the affiliate companies had become too numerous and unwieldy. Acting too independently they had become counter productive to their original mission of acting as a cover for the families illegal activities. In many regards they were drawing unwanted attention to the family. So it was decided the new Tana Corporation would have subsidiaries rather than numerous front companies.

Tana Inc. was structured so that the current Teru would serve as Tana Inc’s Chief Executive Officer and President of the Board and all Teru would serve on its board of directors. Since Tana Inc. is the families only front company the front itself has to be flawless. So the Tana Crime Family has structured all of its illegal activities to revolve around and support its spice trade. The Spice itself is mined, processed, refined and packaged within its base on Kessel, which was designed to be an impregnable fortress as far as security is concerned. Only time will tell how effective the new business model is.

Coronada Fortress

The d’Tana family’s new base was constructed by Etah d’Tanas Thrice Damned Swoop Club on the notorious prison world, Kessel. It was carved out of rock by large construction lasers and slave labor. It was built to house the Thrice Damned Swoop Club and to mine, process and refine spice for sale. Once it was clear that the Coronada Station no longer existed and the d’Tana Crime family no longer had a safe central base of operations, the Sakiyan offered his newly constructed Fortress to serve as the crime family’s new base and home.

The first level is a freighter bay with ten different pads and the beginning of a ten floor warehouse. The second level is a security level that ensures that no one not meant to be in the fortress can gain entrance. The third, fourth and fifth levels include living quarters for d’Tana Family members and the Thrice Damned Swoop Club. The sixth level of the fortress is for spice refinement and the seventh and eighth levels of the fortress are for ore processing. The ninth and tenth levels of the fortress are comprised of holding cells for the forced labor. Every level below that consists of a myriad of mine shafts, each with multiple veins of spice flowing through them.

Organization

Mark of Rank: All members of the d’Tana Crime family from the Teru to the newest Mogani are branded with symbols on their forearms beginning just below the elbows to indicate their standing within the family. They are added too as rank is gained. They are branded to the arms utilizing the Dark Side of the Force and the process is very painful. There is a process for removal of the Dark Side brands should someone be expelled from the family or demoted, but that process is even more painful. Only Teru know the process for applying these Dark Side brands or removing them.

Teru

This is both a rank and a position. There is only one Teru in the position at one time, but once you have held the position that is your rank forever. There are three current Teru: Psyko and Phoenix who both served as de facto Lords of the family in the past and Alex who is the current Teru of the d’Tana Crime Family. The word Teru means father in Huttese and that is the Teru’s relationship with the rest of the family, its firm but loving father figure.

Tura

This is the Capo or Underboss of the Crime Family and simultaneously, it’s made men. At this level one is not just a valued employee or retainer of the family, but a well respected member. Tura are either former Brothers or Sisters from the days of the Consortium or served time at subordinate ranks within Tana Inc. before proving themselves to the family. The word Tura means brother in Huttese but is non-gender specific as the Hutt’s themselves are androgynous.

Bosi

A Bosi is a Sergeant or crew leader. They are below a Tura but hold authority over the Mogani. Most are not force sensitive but are generally valued retainers of the family having served the d’Tana’s for many years. Prospective Tura serve as a Bosi for a predetermined about of time. The word Bosi means leader in Huttese.

Mogani

The Mogani are the street soldiers of the d’Tana Crime Family and more specifically Tana Inc. They are more like employees of the family than members. One must serve as a Mogani before being accepted into the ranks of the Bosi, including force sensitives who are meant to work toward becoming Tura. The word Mogani means warrior in Huttese.

Subsidiaries

Tana Management Company

Legally this subsidiary is in charge of contracts and is the point of contact for all Tana Inc. customers and vendors and oversees all levels of quality control for the company. Behind the scenes this company is the front for all espionage related actives conducted by Tana Inc. Orv d’Tana serves as the current Senior Manager of the company.

Coronada Mining Corporation

Legally this subsidiary is in charge of mining, refining and processing new metal ore deposits found on the planet Kessel which are then sold to companies in need of raw materials. In reality it mines, refines and processes new spice veins found on the planet Kessel and is then distributed to buyers across the galaxy. Etah d’Tana is the current Executive of the company.

Coronada Transportation Company

Legally this subsidiary transports Tana Inc’s equipment and personnel and specifically distributes the ore mined by the Coronada Mining Corporation. If Tana Management is the intelligence staff of Tana Inc., then Coronada Transportation is the logistical specialists of the Corporation. Behind the scenes it is the primary means of transporting Tana Inc’s highly illegal product. Rho d’Tana serves as the Commodore of the Transportation Fleet.

Tana Security Corporation

This subsidiary not only secures Tana assets but behind the scenes works as the bruisers, enforcers and assassins of the Crime Family. Tana Security is the largest company in Tana Inc. and is the most useful cover. It is currently being led by Captain Du Maurier d’Tana.

Tana Consortium

History

Voranyan didn’t set out to create a Crime Family. In the beginning all he meant to do was create a vehicle to mine, produce and distribute Garconian Spice for a hansom profit. But sometime in the interim a family was born. In the process of creating that family an ever expanding criminal Empire necessitated the formation of a Corporate Empire. The Consortium was created to ease pathways to legal income and to serve as a cover for illegal means of income.

It was determined by the Baron’s of the family during the formation of the Consortium that each member of the d’Tana family that ranked Brother or higher would design, build, own and operate their own affiliate. This was a common practice among Dark Jedi Brotherhood families as exhibited by the Entar family. Each affiliate company performed a different service for the Consortium and provided the family with a different cover.

At the height of the family just after the induction of the Torchbearers, Coronada station was a lively place to be and Garconian spice was freely finding its way across the galaxy. After an agonizing decline was punctuated by the drying up of Garconian spice veins and the destruction of Coronada station, the Torchbearers, guided by Alex d’Tana decided to dissolve the Consortium and move the family forward. That is how the Tana Consortium gave way to Tana Inc.

Coronada Station

Coronada station was an amazing achievement for the family. Utilizing their front companies flawlessly they constructed a spaceworthy space station that operated perfectly for over a decade. Coronada station also served as a cover and home for the Tana Consortium. For most of its history Alex d’Tana served as its Captain. He seemed to revel in the hedonism and excess that was a daily part of station life. This station was your average galactic way station with starship repair facilities, bars and whore houses. But it was more than that.

In addition to a normal stop over Coronada Station also hosted slave trading, underground gladiatorial fighting, illegal weapons, any drug you could dream of and other black market items, among other things. Coronada Station was a center for any way the d’Tana Crime Family could make money or amuse themselves. The station was originally placed in the Dajorran system but after the d’Tana exodus from Arcona, it was moved into Hutt Space. It was a sad day for the family, when the station was destroyed by the Yuuzhan Vong.

Organization

Lord

The Lord was the patriarch, commander and principle authority of the Crime Family. There was only one official Lord of the d’Tana family, Voranyen himself. After him Psyko, Phoenix and then Alex served as de facto Lords of the d’Tana family.

Baron

A Baron was a day to day leader of the family and emissary of the Lord or de facto Lord. The original Baron’s were the brothers Alex, Psyko and Gavin. After Gavin’s death, Phoenix became the fourth Baron.

Brother/Sister

This was an informal rank among the family. Below the Lord and Baron’s were the made-men, the front line leaders of the Crime Family. Etah, Rho and Orv were three Brother’s in the d’Tana Crime Family.

Associate

This was also an informal rank. Associates were the ground level, street soldiers of the Crime family that did the bidding of the family.

Affiliates

Santhe Mining

A d’Tana front company operated by Debric during his tenure with the family. After Debric left the family, the company was taken over by Alex.

Olkyssagh Shipping and Transport

Was a d’Tana front company originally ran by Malidir and named Trepidus Shipping and Transport, it became Olkyssagh Shipping and Transport when Phoenix d'Tana became its CEO. It was utilized for illegal distribution.

Prefect Arms

A d’Tana front company specializing in small arms was ran by Koskian d'Tana. Was one of the very first affiliates, outdating the Consortium itself.

Dahl Plating

This front company was started by Gavin d'Tana. It made bulkheads and other components for Coronada Station. After Gavin passed away and Etah began running the company, it began building entire hull's for space fairing vessels. Was one of the very first affiliates, outdating the Consortium itself.

Maurier Security Services

This front company was a private security firm ran by Du Maurier d'Tana.

Dessrx Services

This front company was originally a property management company under the leadership of Selene d’Tana called Selene Staffing. It became a private intelligence and espionage company under the leadership of Orv Dessrx.

Ozrei Destructive Applications Company (ODAC)

This front company is a private army firm fielding mercenaries and bounty hunters. It was led by Rho Ozrei d'Tana.

Vyran Industries

This front company specialized in shield and armor technologies before expanding into a myriad of other technological fields. It was lead by Talos d’Tana.
