Marakith is a skyhook that originally hovered over the government district of Seng Karash, supported by its own repulsor engines. Marakith was formerly the official residence of the Governor of Aeotheran and his staff. The Skyhook was guarded by soldiers of the Dlarit Special Operations Group and served as the home of House Ludo Kressh. It's current whereabouts are unknown since it was stolen after the Invasion of Orian in 23ABY.
History
Marakith was constructed in 19 ABY. The city of Seng Karash had started life in 13 ABY as a small prefabricated structure which quickly swelled following the Exodus in 15 ABY. Seng Karash had always been intended to be an isolated settlement and its original construction included little in the way of defense.
After Governor General Xanos Zorrixor started having nightmares of the galaxy on fire, he initiated a widespread program of fortification to prepare the city for the coming threat. In addition to the typical planetary shields and surface based turbolasers, Marakith was designed to serve as a defensive screen over the city. Future Governor Malisane de Ath oversaw the construction.
In 23 ABY during the Invasion of Orian, Marakith was captured by the True Brotherhood who used it to hold the city of Seng Karash hostage. The True Brotherhood used Marakith's weaponry to destroy a significant section of the residential district. The city was liberated after Trevarus Caerick and Darth Vexatus infiltrated the Skyhook and fought their way to the control room.
Marakith was first stolen by it's owner, Malisane and afterwards it was stolen from him by unknown force users and taken to an unspecified and unknown location.
Description
Despite its size the Skyhook boasts discrete lighting, compensating for the shadow such a large floating structure ought to cast over the city. Marakith also boasts hangars for small to medium ships.
Access to the residence was highly restricted, visitors only by appointment when summoned by the governor. These visitors are further restricted to only a small portion of the Skyhook designed for official entertaining and accommodation for visiting diplomats and business associates.
The rest of the Skyhook was out of bounds, even to the Dlarit Police and the Mayor of Seng Karash. Inside, security and maintenance was purely droid operated, for this is the home of the members of House Ludo Kressh. Along with the apartments and offices of the Quaestor and Aedile are rooms decorated for the personal taste of each member, training facilities, laboratories, recreational facilities, and a private hanger for members' ships.
The security of the skyhook, or simply Marakith as it was known to the members, was essential to the Houses and Clan. The official reason for the high security is that it contained many of the senior executives of the Dlarit Corporation and is for their safety. In fact, it was to conceal the presence and nature of the clan from the general population. Though members of the Clan do visit the public areas of Marakith, the wearing of robes or the carrying of lightsabers in these areas was forbidden for obvious reasons.
It was rumoured has it that if necessary Marakith can leave the atmosphere in an emergency and has basic hyperspace capability. This drastic action would only be used in the likelihood of the planet Aeotheran being overrun by a hostile force. It is also rumored to have extensive defense capabilities though the nature of these are highly classified.
Following the theft of the Skyhook by unknown force users it appears the rumors of its hyperspace capabilities were correct.
