- "For my tribe... for the Clan!"
- ―Faehtal
Faehtal was a Massassi Warrior and the first of his kind to be born on Karufr. Faehtal was a member of the Derriphan Tribe of Massassi bound in service to the Dark Jedi of Clan Taldryan. He was widely considered to be the first of a new generation of Massassi, whom many had believed were extinct. A natural and cunning warrior, Faehtal quickly gained recognition and honor and became the youngest Tribal Chief of the Derriphan. Like most of his kind, Faehtal had a natural Force sensitivity, though no practical training in its use. However, he spent a great deal of time training against members of Taldryan and eventually formed a friendship with Aidan Kincaid.
Biography
Early Life (25 - 37 ABY)
- "He is the first of his generation. A herald of the union between the Massassi and the members of Taldryan."
- ―Jac Cotelin, remarking on Faehtal's birth on Karufr
Faehtal, a male Massassi, was a member of the Derriphan, a tribe that had once served Marka Ragnos on the Sith World of Ziost. Faehtal was born in 25 ABY, the first child of the tribe born since they were put in stasis millennia before. Faehtal's ancestors were stolen from Marka Ragos and bound to Okemi, an outcast Sith Lord and rival of Marka Ragnos who sought to steal power from the Dark Lord of the Sith. After binding the Massassi to his will, Okemi fled to Antei to amass his own army. The short-lived Massassi served on Antei for generations.
Faehtal, unlike the rest of his tribe, was not yet born when Okemi placed the tribe in stasis five thousand years ago. He was born after the awakening. The first generation of Massassi born on Karufr, Faehtal was especially loyal to the Dark Jedi of Taldryan for he had served no previous master. From a young age, Faehtal served at the side of the Dark Jedi, learning the ways of war and training in the jungles of Karufr with his tribe. Faehtal was a member of the warrior caste, his formidable size and strength quickly placing him amongst the strongest members of the tribe. He was a skilled warrior, hunter, and tracker, and rose through the ranks of his tribe to become a tribe leader at the age of twelve—considered a young adult by Massassi standards.
Physical Appearance
Faehtal was a Massassi, a subspecies of the ancient Sith, twisted by the Force into abominations of war. His skin was a dark crimson hue and he had small, glowing yellow eyes—pupil-less, as was common to his race. Faehtal was marked by several sharp bone spurs, but he was easily identified by the two large protrusions from the back of his head. He spoke in a deep, guttural voice, though his Basic was otherwise impeccable.
He was a large and intimidating creature, even amongst his own kind, towering over others with his nearly seven-foot height and weighing almost three hundred pounds. Like his ancestors, Faehtal was built for war. His every movement was one of power and finesse, comfortable with his own hulking mass. His massive presence was more than just physical as he also exuded a powerful, innate presence in the Force.
Personality and traits
- "J'us valia krajoti."
- ―Faehtal, cursing in ancient Sith
Faehtal was a loyal and honorable warrior of the Derriphan. Unlike his ancestors, he never served under several masters. His allegiance was only to his tribe and Taldryan, which resulted in him being an especially faithful servant to the Clan. He was proud to serve the Dark Jedi and keen to prove himself.
Massassi were bred for war and Faehtal was the personification of that breeding. Strong, powerful, and exuding deadly grace, Faehtal was a gifted warrior and spent much of his time training with other members of his tribe and the Dark Jedi of Taldryan. He enjoyed war, but could not be described as bloodthirsty. He liked the thrill of combat, of meeting a strong foe and overcoming them with his own abilities. He prided himself on his strength and was often eager to show it off, as the young are wont to do, but this excessive desire was more to prove himself a worthy warrior rather than to show off his skills.
Despite the fact his race were known to be primitive, Faehtal was highly intelligent. Raised having constant contact with Dark Jedi, Faehtal quickly learned to speak and understand Basic in addition to the native Massassi language. He also had a keen grasp of battlefield tactics and strategy, able to quickly adapt to any foe and form a counter-strategy. These traits made him a trusted member of the tribe and a valuable asset to Clan Taldryan. His elevation to Tribal Chief was as much a result of his gifted intellect as it was his fighting prowess.
Weapons
Lanvarok
- "These weapons may be new, but they honor our past."
- ―Faehtal
Faehtal's weapons of choice were his custom-crafted, dual lanvaroks. These weapons were designed by the Massassi smiths of the Derriphan and built based on designs of the ancient weapons the Massassi once wielded in battle. The lanvarok, typically a two-handed polearm, was shortened and balanced to be wielded with a single hand—a feat made all the fiercer with Faehtal's massive strength. The blade of the weapon hid a projectile launcher which released sharp, poison-covered discs used for attacking prey at a distance. The poison could be deadly given enough time, but it was mainly uses to debilitate opponents so they were easier to finish off in melee range.
Behind the Scenes
