Ballista was a Victory-Class Star Destroyer once under the jurisdiction of the Clan Plagueis Naval Command. She had been there since being acquired after the Eighth Great Jedi War, but would be destroyed to safeguard a Plagueian retreat during the Orian Incursion.

Ship Information

Construction

The Ballista began construction at the Kuat Drive Yards at Kuat in 1 BBY. She was built to replace another Victory II that been severely damaged in a previous battle under the command of Grand Moff Tarkin. She was simply another ship off the line.

Command Crew

Commanding Officer

Cpt. Terrance Young

  • Species: Human
  • Birthplace: Kapsina
  • Height: 1.92 M
  • Weight: 99.7 Kg
  • Eyes: Green
  • Hair: Brown

Terrance was a member of the Jusadih Defense Corps when the newly formed Clan Plagueis decided to use Jusadih as its new base of operations. He immediately joined their Navy and was stationed on the M/STRKC Atrum Pars. There he served under the current CO of the CSD Cotelin. Rising through the ranks to Lieutenant Commander during the Battle of Antei, he was one of a few survivors from that battle and returned to Jusadih. He was promoted to Commander and served as Executive Officer to Alaris Jinn on board the Ballista. Upon Alaris's appointment to Quaestor, and subsequent promotion to Brigadier Admiral, Terrance received a promotion to Captain and still serves as XO on board the Ballista.

History

Among the last of its class to be built by the Empire, the Ballista was sent to Grand Moff Tarkin as replacement for another Victory II undergoing a retrofit at the time. The ship arrived just in time to participate in the Atravis Sector Massacres. Although the assignment was meant to be temporary, the untried crew acquitted themselves well during the campaign, gaining the favor of Tarkin through the zealous pursuit of their objectives. The merciless destruction of two surrendering refugee ships, as ordered, ensured their permanent attachment to Tarkin’s forces in Oversector Outer. The death of Tarkin at Yavin brought Scourge Squadron under the command of other, less capable commanders, and it would be relegated to patrol duties in non-critical sectors. Eventually, the vessel was retired and mothballed as part of the disarmament that occurred after the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War.

In mid-20 ABY, the ship was to be sold off to for scrapping. The Dark Council quickly seized the opportunity to purchase the warship using the funds resultant from Operation Tempest Bravo. It was then brought to the Xa Fel shipyards until the rest of the new fleet was assembled. Ballista, and its full complement of support craft, was placed under the banner of Clan Plagueis in the aftermath of the Yuuzhan Vong sweep through the Brotherhood’s domain. The ship would eventually be destroyed after crashing into Sepros in order to cover the Plagueian retreat at the conclusion of the Orian Incursion.

Ship Designation

Ballista served on Task Force Oberon as part of the Offensive Designation, serving on the same line as the Atrum Pars II.
