The ship arrived just in time to participate in the Atravis Sector Massacres. Although the assignment was meant to be temporary, the untried crew acquitted themselves well during the campaign, gaining the favour of Tarkin through the zealous pursuit of their objectives. The merciless destruction of two surrendering refugee ships, as ordered, ensured their permanent attachment to Tarkin’s forces in Oversector Outer. The death of Tarkin at Yavin brought Scourge Squadron under the command of Ardus Kaine, who would go on to found the short-lived Pentastar Alignment as a warlord. The ship was assigned to the defense of Seswenna Sector, where it remained throughout its tenure with the faction. With the Alignment’s later absorption by the Imperial Remnant, Ballista found itself transferred to the Kwymar Sector to reinforce the Instigator’s mission there.
