Ran Arnet was a male Etti originally from Bonadan in the Corporate Sector. He started life as an Espo in CorpSec's Security Police, serving in the picket fleet of the Corporate Sector Authority, or CSA for short. In 18 ABY, he jumped at a more promising opportunity in the recently formed Kaldex Transport Inc on Etti IV as a security guard.
Kaldex was in fact a front for the Dlarit Corporation which was currently in the act of occupying the Orian system just outside the main Corporate Sector itself. Having proven his credentials, Ran was head-hunted by the Dlarit Navy to be put in charge of a contingent of navy troopers aboard the Nebulon-B frigate Foresight. During the Fall of Antei in 27 ABY, Ran was one of the few men able to get off the Foresight before the frigate was scuttled. Following the battle and the reorganisation of part of the Dlarit Navy into the new Special Operations Group, Ran was among those short-listed to join the new unit. But for reasons Ran strangely was never able to remember, he failed to make the grade and remained in the main navy. In fact, his memory of the Sith involvement in the Battle of Antei had been erased due to his inability to pledge his allegiance to the Disciples of Sadow, hence his failure to join DSOG.
Relegated to a desk job at Kar Alabrek, Ran's bitterness towards the Corporation festered, made even worse by his inability to understand why he had not been good enough. He was approached by the now discredited former mayor of Seng Karash, Sylus Vega, about a new opportunity to join Sylus's new corporation "Vega Incorporated", which the ex-mayor promised would one day become a far more attractive paymaster than the corrupt Dlarit Corporation. Having always been driven by money, Ran cast aside his loyalties to Dlarit as easily as he had turned his back on the CSA a decade earlier.
Come 29 ABY, Ran was fully behind Sylus's decision to throw his lot in with the Peace Brigade and a rogue Vong faction under the command of Varesh Shai. When the Hunter Bur'lorr Amnan was sent to the Orian system to plant the seeds for an invasion, with Sylus's help and contacts Ran assisted the Vong with infiltrating the ranks of the Dlarit Army. Ran helped secretly divert resources to the wreckage of Platform Obsidian in northern Tarthos for the Vong to set up a hidden outpost, while on Aeotheran Sylus had offered their other spy, Ona Amnan, use of Vega Incorporated's refuge in one of the abandoned mines.
Trivia
Ran will feature in an upcoming Clan Naga Sadow event later in Summer 2009.
