Isergess is a small volcanic planet in the Caperion System. It is the planet closest to the star, Caperion. Its constantly shifting and violently active surface has made attempts to establish any bases of organic life on the planet incredibly difficult.
Astrological
Isergess is the closest planet orbiting the star Caperion, at a distance of 53 million kilometers. At this distance it has an average surface temperature of 325 Celsius. It is a small planet, only 5100 kilometers in diameter, with roughly a 2/5s standard planetary gravity. It completes one orbit of Caperion every 67 standard days, and completes a full planetary rotation every 37 hours.
Isergess has a single moon, Xejtrok.
Physical Geography
Isergess is a volatile terrestrial world, composed primarily of large volcanos along with rivers and lakes of molten lava. Scientific studies of the shifting surface have led to the conclusion that the planet is comprised of over 120 different tectonic plates, constantly in movement along the planet. Of these only 5 are large enough to maintain a semi-stable presence on the top of all other plates, estimated to have been on the surface for over 100 million years. The rest of the plates vary in age from 60 million to as recent as 5 million years.
History
Ownership of Isergess has been in dispute for many generations by the local population. This dispute has been largely between various corporate entities instead of the major political powers of the planet. While it is rich in many minerals, the ability to easily mine the planet’s resources has been hindered by the planets largely volcanic surface. None of the ruling parties of Seraph have had the resources to invest in building long term mining facilities.
The various corporations of the system have tried over a dozen times to establish a permanent base of operations on the planet. None have succeeded. The remains of these facilities can still be found by the more adventurous who dare visit the planet’s surface, though several have been largely destroyed by the volcanic activity while a few still have their shielding, relying on geothermal energy to stay functional.
