The Rites of Combat are guidelines to be enforced throughout the Brotherhood for all major competitions and weekly MP nights to provide a sense of fair play and consistency to how we deal with combat. If you choose not to follow these rules, you will be accused of cheating as cheating is defined as violating accepted standards or rules. Cheating is dealt with by the Chamber of Justice.

The Rites of Combat (ROC) are the standard gaming rules for all official Brotherhood gaming activities, to include normal gaming, Tournaments and Vendetta’s. All members should familiarize themselves with the general gaming rules, as well as the rules for their platform(s) of choice.

Of course, not all members who play will know these rules. New members especially will not be used to having rules enforced on them. If you encounter a person who isn’t following the rules explain it to them and point them towards the Rites of Combat. It would also be good practice for Quaestors and Aediles to point new members to the RoC when they first join a House.

All competitions will follow the rules of the Rites of Combat unless the person(s) running the competition specifically opt to not use certain parts. Any alterations must be made clear prior to the start of any such competition and enforced throughout the entirety of the event.
The goal of the ROC is to provide a sense of fair play and consistency in how multiplayer competitions operate. Violations of these Rites falls under the jurisdiction of both the Chamber of Justice and the Fist.

Rules:
To be able to participate in a competition you must be in the channel that the competition is being hosted from. No hiding in clan or other channels to exclude people from getting matches. If you are not present in the channel but are reporting matches they will be discounted. The current channel for competition is #DBGaming.
If you encounter a member who isn’t following the rules or displays questionable behavior while competing in a multiplayer platform, direct them towards the Rites of Combat. It is also good practice for leaders to point new members to the ROC when they first join a Clan and/or House.

To refuse a challenge you must have a good reason, which you will have to verify with the person in charge of the competition in question. If you’re playing during a competition but deny certain people matches you will be disqualified from said competition and the Chamber of Justice will have a talk with you about sportsmanship.

All MP matches in the DB will follow a basic "Soft Cap" ruling. We will allow 6 games maximum per person you play but normally we would like it to remain around 3 games. At times you may find that not everyone is up for 6 games, so this rule will not come into play. Feel free to play as much as you like, but only the first 6 submitted games will gain you credit. We prefer the rules to be flexible in the Brotherhood to allow everyone to enjoy there time here and have fun; not be hampered by rules and regulations.
All competitions will follow the rules outlined under the Rites of Combat unless the person(s) running the competition specifically state otherwise in the details of an approved competition. Any alterations to rules or guidelines must be made clear prior to the start of any such competition and enforced consistently throughout the entirety of the event. Any changes made during the course of a competition must be transparently made available to all participating members.

A note about fictional activities and competitions within the Dark Brotherhood: Due to the varied nature of such activities there are very few accepted standards when it comes to writing. Each competition should state its own requirements for your entry to be counted. If you can’t seem to find a list of such requirements, talk to the person running the competition directly to find out what’s going on.

a. To participate in Brotherhood Gaming for  Vendettas, and Tournaments members must be present in the DB Gaming Matchmaking Channel on Discord.

Multiplayer Gaming Forfeitures: All Gaming Platforms
b. For PvE and PvP outside of a vendetta, presence in DB Gaming Matchmaking is strongly encouraged but not mandatory.

*What is forfeiting: When the opponent has or is experiencing technically difficulties or has other items that have come up, causing him to leave early in the game, without returning and making an effort to finish the match..
Section 2.2 - Setting up Gaming Matches and Events
*What is not forfeiting: When your opponent quits because he is losing, a forfeit will probably be granted, but you may not submit the forfeit on your own. These are conduct issues that must be documented and addressed by the Event Organizer. You will most likely be awarded the forfeiture, but the event organizer needs to be the one to give it to you, since it was due to a blatant rules violation. See below.
a. During Vendettas and DB Wide Gaming Tournaments members must use the “party create” functions on Discord unless specific competition rules say otherwise.

*Submitting/Requesting forfeiture: If you are in the middle of the game, and the other person has the issues without returning and making an effort to finish the match., you gain the win. Submit that Game only as a Forfeiture.
b. For normal gaming outside of a competitive event, members are permitted to set up matches and events in any way they choose.

*If you have agreed to more games with the person, give them time to come back later on. If you leave the event early then the subsequent non-played matches will not be considered forfeits since both parties did not return or they missed each other. If you are around for the entire event, and the other person doesn’t show back up, you are allowed to submit the rest of the games as forfeits, up to 3 games max
c. Members may play as many games per day as they wish, with the understanding that Clusters of Earth and Fire are managed using a Daily/Weekly cap function.  For all Star Wars Games, there is a maximum of 50 Clusters of Fire for PvP modes and 50 Clusters of Fire for PvE modes per day, for a maximum of 350 CFs and 350 CEs per game per week. For non Star Wars games, there is a maximum of 30 Clusters of Fire for PvP Modes and 30 Clusters of Earth for PvE modes, for a maximum of 210 Clusters of Fire and 210 Clusters of Earth per game per week.

*In cases of people wishing to quit the game early for unsportsmanlike like conditions, you will need to ask the event organizer and or his staff. The decision could range from allowing no forfeitures, to allowing three forfeiture matches, to a recommendation to the CoJ for misconduct.
d. During a Great Jedi War or Rite of Supremacy, members will follow all competition specific rules for each competition.  If competitions do not have specified rules, members will follow the guidelines in Section 2.2(a) of the Rites of Combat.

Section 2.3 - Setting Up During Clan Feuds and Cooperative Events
General rules of Conduct
a. The Rites of Combat are still enforced, along with additional requirements, during Clan Feuds and Cooperative events.  Each of these events is unique and may have additional changes to the rules, beyond what is listed here.  These details will be listed with the information for each Gaming Competition, so be sure to refer to those rules and guidelines as well.
Conduct in Gaming Nights and Other Events
In all Dark Jedi Brotherhood events, members are expected to give their best behavior. Complaints will arise from time to time, but it is important to keeping order and good sportsmanship to keep those issues out of the public channels. If you have a complaint, please send a private message or email to the Tribune of the event. The leader will work to end the issue and give out warnings to members. If the issue persists, members will be kicked from the channel or server. Continued violations will result in members involved on both sides of the issue will be banned from the event until there is a resolution to the problem. Keep in mind that both parties involved with laming, cheating, or any other activity deemed as a problem will receive the same punishment since both parties are equally guilty. If you have been attacked during a match, or had your matches interfered with, inform the Tribune for the event and the issue will be handled as soon as all possible.
b. In a joint or vs. event between two (or more) clans, all gaming participants must use the “party create” functions on Discord unless specific competition rules say otherwise.

Acting out on your own in any form will land you the same punishment as the original offender.
Article 3 - Rules by Game Type
Laming: Laming is usually spamming the same move time after time to gain an advantage over you're opponents. It can also be abusing the Force powers in a non-force match. With laming each person has there own definition, but it boils down to how you treat the other opponent, and vice versa. Random attacks by people running by will not be tolerated and will be treated as Laming. If you are messing around on the server, please keep away from those that are involved with personal matches.
Section 3.1 - 1v1 PvP Rules
Cheating: Cheating is a big offense. It includes using any kind of alternate program allowing an advantage. This can be aiming bots, or Hacks. Cheating complaints will be dealt with in the strictest fashion. If you feel that you have an opponent cheating with any of these issues, bring it to the Tribune, Justicar, Grand Master, and Deputy Grand Master's attention with your reason. Please supply proof.
a. Each 1v1 match will be played until one player reaches three (3) points, or best out of five (5). Exceptions to this rule are listed in Supported Games.

Punishments for infractions of the rules
b. In combat based PvP, members may not kill their opponent as soon as they respawn.

We usually try to avoid being harsh or too strict. However, if you have continuously disregarded the rules you’re punishment can range from being kicked from the Server or Channel, to being banned from the Server or Channel. Furthermore if the actions continue you will receive a trip to the Justicar and his hands of justice. There decisions are final and which can lead to being banned from Gaming Nights, Sunday Invitational Tournaments, and Vendettas all together. So please remember that we try to give everyone a chance, but those that choose to not listen will be dealt with on a firm basis.

Examples of match dodging include but are not limited to: abruptly ending a party when a certain member joins, leaving a party when a certain member joins, and creating a new party for the same game/mode of another active party with ample open slots.

b. Exceptions to the match dodging rule can be granted by the Fist and Justicar for special circumstances such as an ongoing Chamber of Justice mediation. Such exceptions will be issued in writing by the Justicar for particular members and kept on file with the Chamber of Justice.

d. Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in an initial warning, and may be followed by a ban if it continues.

e. Please note that warnings may carry over from event to event; members are not entitled to multiple warnings simply because you are gaming in a different competition or Vendetta.

f. If a member feels the need to drop out of a current match because of such conduct, they should notify the Fist immediately about the matches that will be reported and the reasons why you felt you needed to drop out of the match.

g. If the actions continue after a gaming ban issued by the Fist, the Chamber of Justice may seek further action.

h. Although unsportsmanlike conduct is prohibited, this policy is not meant to encourage members to report minor infractions. Someone being a sore loser (or winner) is not the same as being unsportsmanlike, and healthy competitive language is not penalized.

Section 5.7 - Gaming Bans
a. PVE/PVP Gaming - No CFs or CEs will be earned for the duration of the Gaming Ban.  The member who has been banned will not count as a second member for others to earn Clusters with when grouped.
