The Dark Fire Brigade is the oldest and arguably most well-known battleteam in House Dinaari history. It has since its inception in a time long forgotten grown to a legendary status not only in Dinaari but in the Brotherhood as a whole. Most of its past leaders have grown to hold important positions all over the Brotherhood, many of them having served the council in one way or another. It was named after the group of secret assassins who originally formed House Dinaari.

The current Battleteam leader is Obelisk Sergeant Tyre Arvalis.

Further information: House Dinaari

Records of the Battle Team go to as for as 17 years after the battle of Yavin. The leader of that time was a Jedi Hunter by the name of Swiper. Swiper would continue to lead the battle team until at least the end of 17 ABY after which a Dark Jedi Knight by the name of Incandescence took over. His leadership of the Dark Fire Brigade was however short lived as Shaithis Var'rek would take over leading the Brigade from early till end 18 ABY. Early 19 ABY leadership shifted again this time to Mordin "Apo" Malchia Taldrya Mordin would however not lead the Battle team for a long time.

Post-Exodus

During the start of 19 ABY not long after the Exodus Benevolent Taldrya Whiner took over the reigns as Sergeant. His leadership would last until 21 ABY after which Aticus Arjin would take over as the new Sergeant. After Aticus came Fire-Knight in the year 22 ABY. After a steady year Kraval Novir was appointed as the new battle team leader. Michael Arkarso became the leader of the Dark Fire Brigade after Jedi Hunter Jaysen followed then Deputy Grand Master Kir Taldrya Katarn to Clan Plagueis and took on the position of Quaestor. Michael lead the Brigade only a few months before it was officially dissolved. It took over a year until the Brigade reformed once more and opened under Krath Pontifex Seraine "Erinyes" Ténama. Upon her elevation to Quaestor of House Dinaari, Dark Jedi Knight Michael Arkarso temporary took over the reigns of leadership once more. During an assault on an Imperial Warlord while leading the Brigade, Michael disappeared, leaving the Brigade temporarily leaderless. Jaysen, leading Dark Avatar Circle during that same mission took on leadership of the Brigade for another term as well. Needing time away from leadership, Jaysen resigned from his position. A veteran leader was brought in to guide and lead the newer members of the Brigade, in the form of Combat Master Halcyon Rokir. Halcyon led the Battle Team for several months when the leaders of Dinaari decided to re-evaluate the role of Battleteams in general. After much discussion Dark Fire Brigade was closed leaving Old Folks' Home Brigade the only Battle Team remaining in the House.

Current History

After the Rite of Supremacy the need for a new battle team drove the house summit under leadership of Quaestor Voden Arjin to reopen the battle team. They appointed recent newcomer Tyre Arvalis to lead the battle team into a new age.

Information

Recruitment and Admission

The battle team has an on and off history with many forms of admission and recruitment. At times one would need to apply for a position when at other times a group of less-experienced dark jedi were placed in the squad to train them for future leadership positions. In its most recent incarnation it follows the latter pattern, numerous low ranking dark jedi were put into the squad and as such the battle team has taken up a role of serving as a support the younger members and train them for future leadership positions.

Role and Training

Despite its frequent usage to guide new comers into leader positions it has always retained its status as an elite battle team inside House Dinaari. With each leader personally having a hand in the training of his subordinates in various areas of expertise. These areas range from physical trainings which include, conditioning and strengthening of a subordinates body, training in various forms of hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, melee weapon training. To other fields of expertise with examples such as leadership, covert ops. and the dreaded lightsaber training. This all leads to members of the brigade to being prime examples of Dinaari’s strength and ambition to succeed. Under its newest and most recent incarnation with the highly technological powered battle armors the recruits spend the first and foremost part of their training in conditioning and strengthening their bodies to handle the dangerous battle team armors with everything else being held for a later time. Once the recruit has advanced enough to be able to handle the stress that comes with wearing the battle armor they spend half their training time in the armor to grow accustomed to its use. The other half of the training is spend outside of their armor to give them a fighting chance should the armor seize to function or under circumstances where the use of armor is unsuitable.

Armor

The Dark Fire Brigade has recently been granted the use of a new generation powered battle armor which features design elements from the Echani culture and draws inspiration from the battle suits worn by the original followers of Dinaari. It includes spiked shoulder pauldrons, with the Dinaari Claw displayed proudly on the right pauldron and the Dark Fire emblem on the left. The purpose of using aesthetics from the Echani culture was to instill fear into enemy soldiers while the design elements taken from the suits of the early followers of Dinaari show an amount of pride in their heritage and dedication to the Dinaari banner.

The outer shell of the armor consists of multiple interlocking duranium plates over a flexible duranium nanocomposite bodysuit. Where in the past micro-hydraulics were used in powered battle armor, recent developments have led to the rise of Force-Multiplying Circuits. These circuits are located troughout the armor and provide the operator with an impressive strength enhancement. The armor can take significant punishment and is nearly impervious to small arms fire. Perhaps the most impressive feature about the armor is that through the use of the light weight Duranium the armors gross weight, weights in at a light 13 kilograms, which is 75% the weight of conventional power armor.

The underlying duranium nanocomposite bodysuit is durable yet extremely flexible and provides an additional layer of defense against shrapnel and energy based weaponry. The skintight makeup of the bodysuit protects the agent against hazards of a more biological nature. It is known to grant a measure of protection against polluted water and poisonous air. The bodysuit it furthermore coated with a heat resistant material to disperse heat that could originate from the experimental force-multiplying circuits in the outer shell. Another innovation on the armor is the introduction of powerful electromagnetic weapon holder strips located on the legs, waist, and back of the suit and is used to hold any equipment with a magnetic property. It was conceived to hold the durasteel katana along with the anti-armor attachment on the back. The legs would hold the blaster and sniper attachment while the waist would hold the DC-17m and a pair of pouches for resource packs. The helmet contains equipment to protect and aid the user in hostile conditions. This includes: filters to remove toxins from the atmosphere, a supply to provide air to the wearer in low oxygen environments, thermal and motion sensors, communications, solar-powered lighting, and imaging and video gear. The vizor of the armor holds a yellowish hue from the internal HUD. However with all the advantages provided by the heavy duty armor there are also numerous disadvantages. The foremost being the due to the nature of the armor it is known to limit the use of Force powers that are used to augment a Jedi’s physical abilities such as, but not limited to, burst of speed and force jump. The armors experimental force-multiplying circuits make hand-to-hand combat easier, but also make the armor difficult to adjust to; a slight motion can be translated into a potentially harmful one if not conducted correctly, for this reason DFB agents are put through an extensive training period to adjust to the armor. The circuits wreak havoc on an untrained operators body frequently leading to broken bones, even trained operatives complain about muscle aches and cramps from time to time. In order to power the suit an adequate power cell was designed, however due to the limit on dimensions for the power cell it can only power the suit for a maximum of 3 days straight before needing a recharge or quick field replacement.

Weaponry

Long Range

The Dark Fire Brigade is known to frequently make use of the DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System (DC-17m ICWS). A weapon system made popular by Republic Clone Commandos. The DC-17m is smaller and lighter than its predecessor the DC-15A Blaster Rifle and more versatile due to the fact that it could carry a number of different weapon attachments.

  • Blaster Attachment: The main weapon is a rapid-fire ion pulse blaster rifle that uses power pack clips which hold 60 rounds each.
  • Sniper Attachment: Features an electromagnetic scope with 2 zoom modes, x10 and x20. The scope also provides an x-ray vision effect if desired to target vital organs. Each magazine comes with 5 rounds. Upon firing an IPS rifle round it becomes encased in blaster energy.
  • Anti-armor Attachment: Features a dumb-fire warhead that provides a large area of fragmentation and damage. Each attachment of this kind comes with a single warhead which means that the whole attachment has to be replaced after fire, with the size of the attachment limiting the amount one can carry.
  • PEP Laser Attachment: Features a deuterium fluoride laser to stun targets into submission without inflicting permanent harm. Its primary use is to bring back targets alive with only minimal damage to their being.

Melee Range

As a melee weapon all agents are supplied with standardized Durasteel Katana. But in the end the choice of melee weapon, if they decide to bring one at all, is entirely up to the agent himself.

Resource Packs

The Dark Fire Brigade also holds a number of resource packs for various purposes. The most common items in these packs are actually power cells for use in their power armor though additional ammo packs, food and water packs and medical packs also frequently find their way into the hands of agents.
