History

Early life

Childhood: The Early Years 8 ABY - 20 ABY

Zoso was born to colonist parents, Xala and Phelo Quinn, in Tanduran during the year 8 ABY. The birth was just one of many that happened and passed with relatively little notice outside of her own family. Their small, modest home was barely large enough for their recent addition, but her parents doted on their first and what would be their only child. Zoso was a happy child, serious, but happy.

As the girl grew up, she found that the world was much bigger than she knew. Exploring her quiet neighborhood, searching for new places to hide from her parents. This behavior became a game between her parents and the roguish child: she would hide and they would invariably find her. Closed doors and locks never held much sway over the child’s curiosity, leading her into trouble with both local sheriffs at times. The antics of the young Zoso drove her parents to the brink and then some, each day being a whole new adventure. The young Mirialan attended a small school close to her home in the city of Tanduran, where she met a young human named Kara. The young human was a calming influence on Zoso for the most part, insofar as she was dragged to every bit of trouble the Mirialan could find.

Kara was an unusually quiet child that avoided confrontations, her temperament leading to other bullying the young Human. In and out of school, Kara spent her time attached to the larger, confrontational Zoso who began to look after her smaller friend. Headstrong young Zoso led the pair into trouble like a staggering sailor from cantina to cantina. Breaking into their school for fun, hiding from the local sheriffs afterwards, running afoul of the Tanduran Commandos at one point which resulted in both girls being punished by their parents. As the two girls grew older, their mischief also grew in proportion and frequency. Kara would always attempt to curb the exuberance of the Mirialan to no avail and get inexorably drawn into Zoso’s troublemaking.

Adolescence: Enclosed Happiness 20 ABY - 26 ABY

Zoso was a precocious child and became even worse as she grew older. As she entered her adolescence, she discovered others and her proclivities became even more exacerbating for her parents. She was brought home by the civilian police for breaking curfew, by the military police for being too inquisitive as an outpost. At the age of thirteen, she began training in Teras Kasi. She excelled at the style, her speed and raw strength helping her to be an apt student. By the age of fourteen, she had achieved her first tattoo signifying her skill in unarmed combat.

Around this time, she had also begun to notice the opposite sex, finding them quite interesting. The next several years would prove informative to the young Zoso as she navigated the landscape of dating and other activities. Heartbreak, pleasure, pain, these would all hold a special place in the woman’s heart years later as she learned what she was looking for during those times. Zoso learned of love, lust, rejection and denial.

By the age of eighteen, Zoso had achieved more tattoos depicting her abilities of intellect, resolve and sheer endurance. Her talents increased exponentially as she aged, the young Mirialan found herself outpacing all of her classmates and friends in nearly every area she chose.

Clan Odan-Urr

Adolescence: Rise of the Solider 26 ABY - 32 ABY

Shortly after her eighteenth naming day, Zoso enlisted into the Kotahitanga-Unity Defense Force. She showcased her talents in several skirmishes with the natives and rose quickly through the ranks of the Defense Force. Commendations for Valor and Bravery came hand in hand with promotions and new skills being learned. By the time she had reached her twentieth naming day, Zoso has achieved notable skill in interrogation, athletics and bladed weaponry. During this time, Zoso became noticed by her superiors and was eventually offered a chance at being an officer herself. The young woman jumped at the chance, accepting the offer as soon as she was able. By her twenty-first naming day, she had already been sent to officer training.

Again, the young Mirialan fulfilled her expectations to impress, earning multiple commendations in the defense of the colonists. Her abilities with tactics became evident, earning her another tattoo. As the years passed, Zoso rose through the ranks reaching the rank of Captain in the KUDF.

By the end of her time in the KUDF, Zoso was promoted to the rank of Major and returned to her home in Tanduran, where she accepted a commission into the Tanduran and Dac Unified Commandos.

Adulthood: TDUC Ranger 32 ABY - 36 ABY

Upon her return to Tanduran and her entrance into the Tanduran Commandos, Zoso was initially placed with Fourth Platoon. During this time, Zoso learned more of close quarters combat and urban assault. Her previous tenure within the KUDF added to her deadly repertoire of skills, making her shine above other Rangers. Zoso continued to become a decorated soldier, earning commendations and medals for her valor and bravery. Death and destruction followed in her wake, turning the tide of battle in many skirmishes. Through it all, the young woman continued to smile as though nothing was wrong, finding ways to just let all the bad she had seen roll away from her. A few years after her return, the young Mirialan was transferred to First Platoon and sent to live in the woods.

Her tenure with First Platoon was the first in a long time where she was forced to learn something new. Zoso had grown up in the city and her knowledge of the forests was next to nothing. Even during her time in the KUDF, she was only ever stationed near cities and open fields. To say that Zoso was discomfited by her assignment was an understatement at the start, but the Mirialan was adaptable and soon the forests became a second home. She learned what plants were edible, what animals to steer clear of and how to build a shelter in the event one was needed. She learned tracking and hunting, these skills also being noted on her body as she gained proficiency in them.

In 36 ABY, New Tython fell to the New Dawn and their leader, Cy Thuron. Zoso was captured on an expedition and imprisoned in the places where she would find her future.

Adulthood: Prisoner of War 36 ABY - 37 ABY

Nearly a year of hell awaited the Mirialan. The Mad King had sent Zoso and many other loyalists to Odan-Urr to an unnamed prison. Zoso, like many others, was classified as extremely dangerous and placed in the maximum security section of the prison. She was given two hours a day of sunlight, four hours of sleep and the rest seemed to be dominated by extensive torture and interrogation in order to learn troop movements. The Mirialan had been trained for a decade to resist interrogation and torture. Day by day, her smile began to fade, life became more serious within the prison. She had the pleasure of meeting other confederates during her time outdoors, faces that she would see on many occasions over the next two years. The Mirialan soon lost track of the days she was imprisoned and after a year, she was transferred to a new facility, Purity Rock. The woman’s future seemed bleak and faces around her were haggard and downcast, many disappearing, many of them overnight. The interrogators kept her alive for one simple reason: she had information they wanted.

In 37 ABY, Zoso was moved to Purity Rock after its construction as one of the first internees. The camp filled quickly with those who stood against the Thuron Monarchy, defiant faces on both Harakoans and colonists. Torture and interrogations continued, but the woman remain obs even in the face of certain death. She vehemently refused to give up her fellow soldiers and her interrogators eventually lost interest.

As the year passed, torturous and deadly, many of the prisoners were summarily executed during their time at the camp. Quinn, however, remained ever vigilant and soon saw the end of Purity Rock. During the last few months of her incarceration, Zoso met V'yr Vorsa, a proud, defiant woman who would eventually shape the course of the Mirialan’s life.

In the final days of internment, Zoso met the rather enigmatic Turel Sorenn, a Jedi with no qualms about appreciating her figure, a man who for one reason or another had gotten himself locked away. Soon after, Purity Rock began its fall as concerted forces from the Clan descended on the camp. When the internees rose up against their captors, Zoso found a small group of KUDF soldiers and rallied them to the fight, leading them in a charge against those that had detained and tortured them.

As the Mad King’s reign came to a bloody end, the Mirialan retired from the fighting and nursed her wounds sustained over the last two years. Fate would intervene as word of her actions as a soldier and her defiance while a prisoner of war reached a Zabrak named Durzo Es-Piera.

Adulthood: SenNet Operative 37 ABY - 39 ABY

Zoso was approached shortly after returning home and was pulled into the Sentinel Network. Her previous training and experiences had made her a prime candidate. She agreed to the posting and once more followed the waves of her life, becoming ever more dangerous. The Mirialan spent a few months in a rigorous training regime, bringing her strength back up to par and learning the ways of covert operations. Since the invasion of the Dark Jedi and the reign of Thuron, the Network had become an operational force dedicated to the prevention of such incidents. Zoso agreed with this philosophy wholeheartedly and strove to do her part.

The months of training passed quickly for the woman and she earned her place among the Operatives of the Network. She was assigned to her hometown of Tanduran as a sleeper to insure that the city could be protected against another threat. After the devastation, Zoso used her down time to assist in the rebuilding of the more destroyed parts of the city. The woman used that as a cover for her real intentions, watching for remaining dissidents of the King’s reign. She managed to apprehend a few of the malcontents, but she remained vigilant against any other possible threats. The city was large and there were bound to be other operatives, but she never met them. All communication was done through dead drops and encoded messages.

After two years of service, Zoso left the Network and found herself once again going home. She was tired of war, or death, of brutality. She aspired to a quiet life and wanted nothing more than to turn in her sword for a plowshare. The invasion of the O'reenians came and went without Zoso raising so much as a hand. She felt that she had done her time and that fighting was best left to those younger and more exuberant.

Adulthood: The Agent 39 ABY

Zoso rested for a few months and enjoyed her time drinking and reading. Her mood had become brighter over the years since she had returned from imprisonment, her smile coming back at anything that caught her attention. The wounds on her back from the lash had healed into thin lines of scar tissue, the effects of torture and interrogation nothing more than bad memories of time spent during physical rehabilitation and quality time spent immersed in bacta.

One evening at a local bar, a woman from her past approached her, a fairly impressive escort standing closely beside her. The Neti sat down beside her with a smile and an offer. Protection for those that could not help themselves. No killing was required for this job, except in extreme circumstance, and it struck a chord deep within the Mirialan. Details of the job were always kept in the dark, but Zoso was always given the name and holo of those she needed to protect. Those that held significant promise for the good of the Clan and her home planet.
