Driftan currently serves as the Praetor to the Master-at-Arms, the Aedile of House Arcona, and the Magistrate to the Deputy Grand Master. His aloof and determined demeanor, along with his notable strategic expertise and cunning, mark him as a man not worth crossing. A loyal, albeit ambitious, member of Arcona, Driftan continues to seek out more areas to expand his influence and expertise.
A life-altering event during his elevation to Sith Warrior has marked and changed the man's physical appearance and his personality. Once a gregarious, out-going member of Arcona, Driftan has found himself turned inward towards his own studies and improvements. Time will only tell if the changes brought out during the Transfiguration will lead to the ultimate reward or his eventual demise.
Character History
Life on Kuat
Born to Devon and Lusian Housan of Kuat in 4 ABY, Driftan was brought into the galaxy during a tumultuous and dangerous time for the planet of Kuat. The Second Battle of Kuat welcomed Driftan into life, and the Third Battle of Kuat reminded Driftan at even a young age that this is a dangerous galaxy where only the strong and cunning thrive or survive.
Driftan's father was a machinist and supervisor with Kuat Drive Yards, specializing in custom ships for wealthy patrons. Because of the trust and prestige of Devon's job the Housan household lived comfortably, enabling Driftan to receive a private education that was above what others in his social class may have achieved. From a young age Driftan's father was mentoring him to take his place as a supervisor within the Drive Yards, but even at a young age Driftan had dreams of his own.
Red Hawks
Into the Arms of the Brotherhood
Following a mission he had just completed for the Red Hawks, Driftan was led by an unknown Dark Jedi to the planet of Arconae Primus. Once there, Driftan and his crew were captured by three members of House Qel-Droma. Three of Driftan's crew were immediately executed, with Driftan being given a deadly choice of whether to live or die. It was at this point that Sanguinius Tsucyra, one of the Dark Jedi holding Driftan captive, gave him a choice to either kill his crew member and join the Brotherhood or die at the hands of the Jedi. The decision was obvious for a man who grew up looking out for himself, and at this point Driftan made his descent into the Dark Side of the Force.
The Journeyman Years
Driftan was often noted for his ambition and determination in his desire to find favor with his masters. Whether it was in the field of battle or completing various quests and projects for the House and Clan Summits, Driftan was often selected to prove his worth within the unit. It was here that he caught the attention of Sashar Arconae and Celahir Erinos, two men who would prove vital to Driftan's continued growth and developing as a Dark Jedi.
The Transfiguration
As the Quaestor of House Qel-Droma, Driftan was sent on a mission to figure out why a mass exodus had occurred within Clan Arcona. Sent on the mission by Consul Sashar Arconae and Proconsul Celahir Erinos, the Dark Jedi Knight was eager to prove to his superiors that he was ready to enter into the ranks of the Sith Equites.
Downsizing and Rebirth
Personality and Skills
Lightsaber Forms
Since the Transfiguration, Driftan has experienced a sort of rebirth in his combat styles, preferring to eschew his previous defensive style in favor of a more aggressive and offensive-minded form. To that end, he has worked tirelessly in his quest to master the duelist form of Makashi while also delving into the Force-centered Dun Moch.
Makashi
The finesse and style of the Second Form is what persuaded Driftan to begin learning this somewhat limited form. It fits well with his personal philosophy of seeing combat with non-Force users as below him, and lends itself to protecting himself against those who would find him a bit too ambitious for his own good.
Target Weapon: A preferred move by Driftan because it allows him to emasculate his opponents before finishing them off in battle.
"Clear the Pat": Another move that Driftan has mastered. It is especially useful when in a crowd or when he needs to put his opponent on the back pedal for one reason or another.
Dun Moch
The raw power and use of the Dark Side that is the cornerstone of Don Moch fits nicely with Driftan's post-Transfiguration personality.
Mid-Strike Hand Change: When Driftan prefers a bit of flare in battle, he likes to use this move in conjunction with the Reverse Grip method found within Makashi Mastery.
