Syntari Bastiayn is a Krath Adherent and the former apprentice of Shikyo Keibatsu. A member of the Night Hawks, she has earned the title of Mystic while in service to Clan Naga Sadow and has sworn what loyalty she has to House Marka Ragnos.
Character History
Note: Due to the "life saving efforts" of Naga Sadow's resident "doctor", Calenhad, Syntari suffers from amnesia that effects the bulk of her memories. Very little of her early years remains intact, while her time within the Brotherhood is essentially non-existent; what is known about her life has been gathered from a series of uncompleted holo journals. While the details found within those journals are recorded here Syntari herself remains blissfully unaware of the details.
Early Life
Born in 10 ABY to an Umbaran mother, the young Syntari found herself abandoned on the planet Nar Shaddaa. According to a recovered holo journal she grew up in the care of a non-Umbaran father she doesn't care to remember. Her youth was spent in various stages of neglect and abuse until the age of 10 when she met a Zeltron by the name of Cyril Omega. Under her influence Syntari attacked and killed her father with his own vibro-blade. From here what memory she has is hazy; it is unclear if the lack of memory is a result of amnesia or of an intentional desire to forget.
A Life Among the Stars
Four years after her father's murder Syntari and Cyril stowed away on a vessel departing for the core worlds and found themselves as bounty-hunters-in-training in the care of Kratus Vahillus. Cyril would leave for Brotherhood space less than a year after encountering the Arconan while Syntari would stay, spending the next six years aboard his vessel. She would eke out a minor reputation as a bounty hunter in the years to follow before answering a request for aid put out by the very same Zeltron she had once called a friend. In doing so Syntari would end her life jumping from system to system and would soon find herself neck-deep in Brotherhood space. (Note: none of these details have been recalled by Syntari Bastiayn as of yet. Her past remains a mystery, as Kratus himself has vanished, it seems, for good.)
Dark Jedi Brotherhood History
The request from Cyril Omega, who had remained MIA for the majority of six years, turned out to be a turning point in Syntari's life. The reasons behind Cyril's abdication remain unknown, as Syntari was not privy to the details of her friends' desire for freedom. The result of her aid in this is also unknown; whether Cyril lived or died was never clear, and Syntari would never have a chance to find out. Instead the Umbaran would take Cyril's place within Clan Naga Sadow and it is there that she has remained to this day. Her life in the Clan would be filled with betrayal, heartbreak, a never-ending thirst for knowledge and the power she had lacked throughout her life, and ultimately a craving for revenge she wold never have.
Apprenticeship
Not long after arriving in Naga Sadow space Syntari Bastiayn would gain the attention of none other than Shikyo Keibatsu. Her apprenticeship to the then-Herald would be an interesting one, as his various duties as Herald would interfere with her training and result in delayed ascension to Knighthood. She proceeded to spend the better part of a year "languishing" as a Huntress after relatively quick ascension to the aforementioned rank, spending an "ungodly amount of time" (as she would later arrogantly rant in an unfinished holo journal) "...laboring in the Archives striving to give myself the skills he wouldn't teach". Despite her best efforts she would pick up a variety of habits and quirks during her apprenticeship, including a penchant for secrecy and a distaste for authority, which she holds to this day, and a hatred of lightsabers that took botched brain surgery to break.
Note: Syntari used to brag about her apprenticeship to Shikyo, however it didn't take long for her to quiet down about the details of her apprenticeship. Chief among them was a paranoid desire to avoid unwanted attention, but currently amnesia has wiped these memories of Shikyo's tutelage and it's imagined that is preferred either way.
