Onyx orbits the planet Tarthos in the Orian system. The platform serves as the main repair and refuelling station for the Dlarit Navy. The Onyx also provides orbital fire support for the garrison city of Kar Alabrek and Alabrek Castle on the surface below.

In addition hangar space on the Onyx is always reserved for emissaries from the Dark Council and there are special quarters kept separate from the main Dlarit Navy should representatives from the council be onboard.

Platform Onyx fought valiantly against the VSD Dark Fusion along with Platform Obsidian in the Invasion of Orian. Platform Obsidian was destroyed but Platform Onyx survived.
