Opening blurb. The Kr'Tal System was a five-planet Star System in the Expansion Region that served as the base of operations for the Dark Brotherhood House of Taldryan. Of its ten planets and moons, only one planet was actually habitable―Karufr. Initially discovered by the Jedi of Taldryan shortly after the Exodus of 19 ABY, the primitive indigenous population was quickly conquered.
History
Ancient History
- wild land were beasts roamed. Only a few early attempts to settle that ended in failure due to the aggressive gundarks
- eventually settled by zeltron colonists with technology that could keep the beasts at bay (think thousands and thousands of years ago)
- originally a tenuous part of the Old Republic
- remained in the Empire due to fear/corrupt government
- Governor Archibald Busch given control of Karufr, and thus the entire Kr'Tal System
- influx of imperial citizenry
- station a tie factory in the mountains of Taruma
- after battle of endor, refused to join the new republic
- relatively unknown system, few outsiders came across it
- Governor, post-endor, styled himself as a dictator
From Beyond the Hammer
- Tal moves in post-exodus.
- The sudden arrival of the broken Tal fleet threw the planet/governor into a panic
- ambassadors from Taldryan negotiated with the governor and, by feeding his avarice, were given rights to settle on Karufr
- the dark jedi of Taldryan quickly established themselves throughout the government and took control
- Busch was too late to discover the truth--that the new settlers were Dark Jedi--and was given the choice of being a puppet or a corpse. He wisely chose the former.
- Tal made use of the abandoned tie fighter factory to repair damages to their fleet after the battle of Karana
- they expanded from Karufr to install facilities on the other, non-habitable, planets. Includes starfighter training grounds through the asteroid belt, etc.
